Chapter Nineteen

I shivered in the night air, as much from fear as the icy wind whipping through my hair giving me gooseflesh. I was still in the slinky low-cut evening gown, nipples cutting through the fabric as they responded to the chill. Cole kept his hand tightly wrapped around my upper forearm even as we waited for his snipers to get into position, delaying the inevitable showdown between myself and the Alpha I had left behind.

I was so anxious I could vomit.

Without warning, Cole pulled my body against his and the instant warmth of his solid form ignited a curiosity within me. He wasn’t unattractive, quite the opposite. He was handsome in the dark, mysterious way that all girls fantasised about with his black hair, dark olive skin and warm brown eyes, wearing a short stubbled beard that only highlighted his chiselled jaw. I wouldn’t kick him out of bed on a good day. Which was good, considering I’d hedged my bets on him-lies and all.
