Rex POV
Five Years Later…….. “You are late.” Those were the first words that I heard at the moment I walked into the mansion. Tilting my head to look into the living room, I saw my mother sitting in the dark, waiting for me. Like a creep. “It is also two o'clock in the midnight, and you are just getting in”. She said with a scowl. The same scowl that is always present on her face whenever she was talking to me. Ever since Elena left. No, ever since I told her to leave. “I told you, I have things to do,” I said as I turned to leave. “Did you find her?” She demanded, with her voice cold. I can't help but wince at it. I get it. I messed up. And I am trying to make up for it by searching for her. I have been chasing her down every year, whispers, suspicions, or sightings of her but it has all come to nothing. Just like tonight and every other night. “No, mother. I didn't. It was a false lead, I didn't find any clue to her whereabouts”. I answered. She sniffed with disdain as she got up to her feet. “Five years. She has been away from home for five years and you still haven't found her. Maybe it is true after all”. She said with spite as she walked towards me. “Maybe you should stop looking for her. You don't deserve her after all. If you did… if you truly wanted her back you would have found her by now.” “Mother!” “Don’t mother me! I warned you, didn't I?! I told you to go after her. That you would regret it. I said put a tail on her at least, but no, you are the Alpha. You know best. You and that disease of a thing that you called Maya. Do you have any idea how many lives you have ruined? All because of that witch?!” “I know Mother! I know! I messed up. And I am trying to get her back-” Another scoff from her cut me off. “Get her back? You would be lucky if she even wants to see you or even forgive you. Get her back, my foot! Don't get your hopes up. You had a good woman, a treasure, an ordained mate and you scorned her for trash. Where is she now? Your previous Maya?” She scoffed at me before she left the room. Maya is dead. I killed her with my own hands. It was the best thing to do after her betrayal- no. It was never a betrayal, it was a scheme. She had come back into my life for just revenge. Revenge for choosing my mate over her. So, she had planned to infiltrate my pack, while selling information to one of my enemies. Now if only I could find out who it is exactly she was talking to, then it would have solved a lot of problems. But I can't. Because I killed her. And oh, yeah. The pregnancy… that was a lie. Something that she had created an illusion for with the help of a witch. “Damn! My goodness! I have been such a fool!” With tired steps, I walked up to my room. I would have gone to Elena’s but Maya had made sure to have every inch of her whereabouts scrubbed out. Not even a trace of her scent remained. Is this how my life is going to be? Living it without my mate? Do I even deserve a second chance? Wouldn't it just be best for me to just let her go? I can't lie there on my bed, with all of these thoughts going round and round in my head, till my mind wanders back to the day I had met her. ****FLASHBACK**** It was a normal day really. I had gone to her pack for a business meeting with her Alpha, without Maya. It was common knowledge then that Maya was my fiance and the woman I was set to marry since I couldn't find my mate. Imagine my surprise when my wolf started going crazy, and restless. Two words that he was never described as. I had taken a break from the meeting to go for a run so as to calm him when the most delectable smell filtered through my nose. I looked to my side and there she was, Elena, staring at me in gobsmacked shock. It also took me a few seconds to realize that she had run away upon sighting me. Searching for her throughout that day proved futile and I was this close to demanding the Alpha of her pack to call out every member of the pack for me when a knock sounded on my door. It was her. She looked so beautiful and brave staring me in the eyes as she asked, “Are you going to reject me?” “What?” I demanded, confused. “Everyone knows you have a fiance, Maya”. She had explained. “The two of you have been together for years. So, if you are going to reject me, I would rather have it here in private. Now.” So brave. So fearless. The true makings of a Luna. And I will be honest, ever since I had laid my eyes on her, Maya did not even cross my mind. And the fact that she had brought it up and was willing to go through the rejection showed how honorable she was. Even if it did piss me off a little. “Aren't you going to fight for me?” I asked. “Should I? Would I succeed? Do I even have a chance?” “Of course you do! You are my mate!” “And she is your fiance! The way I see it, only one woman comes out on top and I don't like to beg. So who would it be?” She flustered me. Challenged me. In that short exchange, she had managed to get under my skin and ruffled my feathers. How could I reject her? ****PRESENT DAY*** And yet. That was exactly what I did. Not only did I reject her and chose the same woman over her but I made her beg. Images of that night flashback through my mind. Images of her on her knees, tears pouring down her face as she held onto my leg, crawling on the floor. Begging me. No pride, no shame, just her naked love for me. And I spat on it. My mother was right. I don't deserve her. Not after what I had done. With a resigned sigh, I got up to my feet and walked towards the intercom, to buzz my secretary. It was time to put an end to this search. But just before my finger could tap it, it rang out. “Now what?” I mustered before pressing a button. “Mr. King”. My secretary’s voice rang out. “Sorry to disturb you at this hour-” “Get to the point, Tobey.” “We found her. We found your Lady Elena.” “What?!” I asked as adrenaline zapped through me, clearing all depressive clouds from my head. “Where?” “New Kingston.” “Have an helicopter ready before the hour is up,” I said, as I moved to end the call. “Sir! One more thing.” “What is it?!” I demand. “I have no time to waste.” “Well… there… we discovered…” “Spit it out, Tobey!” “She has children with her”. She rushed out. “Twins. And from their looks, those kids belongs to her”. The words are like clanging cymbals in my head. They make no sense. “Elena… has children… did she remarry?” “I doubt if that is possible as your divorce proceedings were never finalized.” That is correct. But still… Elena, with children The very reason I had kicked her out was because of the lack of children… And now…. “Find out everything. And I mean every damn details about her and the kids.”Rex POV“What is this I hear about you finding Elena?” My mum asked as she barged into my office.“Mum, you know that you could have at least knocked?” I asked by way of response.“Don't play with me, boy? Where is she?”Boy.Like, what the hell! As if I am still some eight year old kid that broke his vase, oh well.“New Kingston”. I answered as I signed a document, handed it to my Secretary, and then looked up at her.At her fifty five years old, my mother is still a beauty. There were no gray strands of her in her mane of full Auburn hair, beautifully styled and cuffed by the nape of her neck, she had the same color as my eyes but with a tanner skin and no signs of aging.I suppose that was thanks to our wolf genes.“If she is all the way over there, why are you still here and not on a plane?”“Because.”“Because what?”“Because… there are some… things to be cleared on my desk before I go see her”. I answered.“Some… some things to take care of? Rex! Are you listening to yourself? T
Elena POV“I am imagining this”. I muttered to myself. “I have to be imagining this.”I stood with my mouth wide opened in shock as a pair of wolf cubs had made a mess of my living room.Suffice it to say, this was not normal.I mean, for a while now, a lot of things have not been normal in my life, not since the twins were born but this takes the cake.Wolves, werewolves are only able to transform on their sixteenth birthday. This is to allow them to bear the pain of transformation while also having the ability to control their urges. So, why, pray tell, are my four - nearly five - years old children in wolf form? There was no warning, no inkling that they were going into transformation.I had left them asleep on the waterproof mattress and came back only to see the room flooded, glass broken, and two cubs having a tug of war with one of my silk pillows.I got down to my knees slowly, hands outstretched as I called out to them.“Kanu, Kiana, come to mummy now. Come now.”At my voice,
Elena's POV.I couldn't bring myself to believe how Rex had tracked me down. I felt my world pause for a while as all I could recall at that very point was how he had ordered me to leave his pack for good. I felt this hurting pain in my chest as I looked at how he crouched to their level. "Does he know those are his children?" I mumbled within as his gaze was still locked to mine. It was obvious. They had this striking resemblance with him. I groaned even more as I looked at him. All the screams, the laughter of children and the conversations of adults all turned to some low pitched, unclear sound. All my ears could process were the voices in my head. And I could still hear his voice so clear in my head when he had asked me to leave his pack for good. I could still hear the voice of Maya as well. And now, seeing him reopened the old wound I struggled to move over from. "Elena?" Marie called out to me again as she shook me lightly, bringing me back to reality. "Are you alright?"
Rex's POV.I couldn't let go of her beautiful grey eyes. It was impossible falling asleep when finally, my search for her was over. How could I easily forget how beautiful she has gotten within the five years of being away? Her black, wavy hair was now more appealing to me and her scent, still seductive to me. Her slender body mesmerized me further, making me want to have her all to myself again. And I felt more happy playing with her kids as I saw the striking resemblance. They both looked just like me but then, I felt these sharp pains as I was stupid enough to chase her away. If only I was patient enough, I would have spent time with my kids while they were babies.I couldn't help but think about what exactly she must have told them about me. They were smart kids. "Why wouldn't they be?" I shrugged proudly as I complimented their smartness as a quality they had taken from Elena and I."How did you know our mummy?" I could still hear Kanu's voice in my head and the answer I gave
Elena’s POV.I still couldn't stop thinking about yesterday. He was the last person I ever thought of seeing and most especially, I couldn't help but worry how long they have been watching me. “How did he know of my two adorable twin angels?” I scowled agonizingly as I did the dishes. It was completely impossible to think straight right now. I had dropped them off at school an hour ago now, the only thing I could think of was running away secretly again. I wasn't ready to face him yet. “What about Maya?” “Did they break up?” I felt this joy linger within me as I shook it off. “Why was it a thing to be happy about?” I cursed within as I rinsed the plates.“Elena?” Marie's voice pulled me back to reality as I cleaned my hands. “Oh! Marie.” I mumbled as I feigned a smile. “You didn't go to work today?” I questioned as I looked at her. “Work?” She said disappointedly, shaking her head as she rubbed her forehead with her right hand. “What exactly is wrong with you, Elena? How do you e
Rex's POV."Good morning, Rex. Is there any good news?" Alice asked the moment she picked the call."Good news?" I chuckled softly. "Do you think Elena would easily let me back into her life?" I scowled. "I saw her yesterday but then, I could tell she wasn't happy seeing me and she took the kids away from me." I responded as I arranged my hair. "What else do you expect? You caused this. I warned you from the beginning. Better don't get back here without my beautiful daughter in-law and her two little, adorable kids." She said in a threatening tone. "Kanu and Kiana." I muttered with a smile as I had flashbacks of them. "What!?" She asked in a confused tone. "Oh! She named them Kanu and Kiana." I answered with a smile on my face. "They are just 4 years old, and they look too big and healthy." I muttered. It was something beautiful and I wished I had watched them grow this big and smart. It was obvious that she was perfectly fine without me. "And how do you intend to get her back?"
I arrived a few minutes before the school closure for the day as I remained inside the car, scanning the environment with my eyes like I was expecting something to go wrong. And the few minutes felt like hours already as I was growing impatient already. I just couldn't wait to set my eyes on my two little adorable pups. "Hello, little angels." "No, hell no!" I shrugged as I marched the car brake aggressively. "That's boring." I said to myself as I started all over again."Hey, Kanu and Kiana, you both look magnificent in your uniforms. How was school today?" I rehearsed again as I smiled.I repeated different lines as I looked at the mirror at the top of the car."So, your mummy said I can drive you both home and from today, I will be your new driver." I went further."Okay, this is weird now!" I cursed as I slapped my cheeks lightly and shook my head. "Is that how bad of a father you will be?" I shrugged disappointedly as I dragged my cheeks apart in frustration. "Okay, take a d
Elena's POV."What do you mean by you “calling in and saying they are not in school?" Marie screamed at the top of her voice as she looked at me."I just spoke with Mr. Heather and he said a man introduced himself as my brother, and he said he was going to drive them home." I responded as my heart raced fast.I just couldn't find a better positive explanation for this. I couldn't let any harm come to my little angels. "How could Mr. Heather be that careless? Why didn't he call in to confirm if the man's story was actually true? How could he just give out your kids to a complete stranger?" Marie growled angrily. Her heart also raced fast and wild as she paced about in the room. "I don't want any harm to come near my godchildren else, I will break hell loose." She panicked even more."They are an hour late." I whimpered as I stood upright, my eyes fixed on the wall clock and I knew absolutely nothing to do. "What proof did the stranger even show Mr. Heather to make him give my little
Rex's POV.“So, what's your next plan? It's obvious that she doesn't want you back. I think she's still healing from your betrayal.” Clark said as he sat down on the couch next to me.“It's been five years, Clark. And if I never cared, why am I here? Why am I in New Kingston when I have a multimillion empire to worry about?” I sighed as I relapsed on the couch.“You don't expect her to throw herself on you, Rex!!” Clark furrowed. “You have to earn it.”“Earn what exactly!?” I snapped in annoyance and frustration. “You have to earn her trust. You have to at least earn a little of her love and with that, maybe you could be able to convince her to return to Cleveland, to the pack.” He responded as he sipped the coffee in front of me.“Are you being serious right now?” I got up on my feet as I stared sternly at him. “Are you aware that she doesn't even give me the space I need to be able to prove to her that she's the reason I returned to New Kingston?” I sighed as I got up from the cou
Elena's POV.I had come to a conclusion and that was, 'there was absolutely no way I was returning back to Cleveland and to Rex's pack as well.' When I secretly left the pack five years ago, I had to go through so many difficulties and as well as having a hard time being an expecting mother and luckily for me, God had sent Marie my way. I looked at Marie who was busy playing with Kanu and Kiana like they were her own kids. I smiled as I continued with dressing the bed.I stole a glance of myself in the mirror that hung directly opposite me as I smiled."I won't allow him to ruin my beautiful life here in New Kingston. Never!!" I said to myself as I looked at the mirror.Luckily for me, I had a good job in The Eleven and it also came with a good pay that could help me clear my outstanding bills as well as sending them to school as well. And this chapter of my life? I was dedicating it to having the best moments of my life."Hey girl, what are your plans for the weekend?" Marie asked
Logan's POV.5 hours ago."What… what do you mean by Liam is dead?" Alphonso growled angrily. I could hear his heart race fast and wild and I saw the rage in his eyes. "How was that even possible?" He screamed as he punched the wall so hard, leaving a crack on the wall. "You had one duty, one duty Peterson and that was to watch over him. I need answers. I need whoever was behind it, dead." He growled as he pinned Peterson to the wall. His claws were out already as his eyes glistened red as well as his side hairs got much too and his fangs were partially out too."That won't bring him back, dad." I snapped as I tried calming him down. He turned to look at me and for a minute, the man I saw wasn't my father but the beast he has been hiding for years. For years now, he had fallen back as he was now more concerned about the family business and watching after his pack. A man of his caliber wouldn't go about seeking territories because he already had New Kingston in his hands. Almost
Alicia’s POV.Amelia had taken my phone as she scrolled through my Gmail in search of the mail I had gotten from Bohen’s bureau. She literally had access to everything that belonged to me, what was there to hide?“You will be going for the interview during the weekend which is tomorrow. Don’t tell me you don’t plan to go, Amelia.” She scurried away as Madam Cass called her attention to one of the finely dressed Italian customers that just barged in with some of his classy looking friends and their ladies too who had this slender body shape of some runway models. From their looks, I could tell they were some poorly trained kids of a wealthy family from around. I sighed as I looked away, trying so hard to ignore their noise that soon filled the bar. And the girls? I could tell already from the way they threw themselves on the guys that they had nothing serious, maybe just a fling. She quickly took down their order as she returned back to the counter to get the tray all filled up with e
Rex's POV.I yawned, stretching my body as I got up from the bed. It was another day away from Cleveland, away from the King's Real Estate Company and away from keeping up with meetings and also, getting treated like some high school kid by my mother.I looked at the wall clock as my eyes were still heavy and I wished I could sleep for some extra hours but then, I had other important things to get done. I couldn't get my mind off Elena just yet and there was absolutely no way I could ever get my mind off her.Her words still rang in my head and in as much as I tried forcing myself to believe that with time she would return to the pack, that she would leave New Kingston and returns back to Cleveland I still couldn't completely ignore the sharp and hurting pains I still felt when she clearly showed no interest in ever getting back with me.I paced about the bedroom as I couldn't clear my head completely. I glanced through my wardrobe as I was already running out of clothes. "What outf
Alicia’s POV.“What do you mean you got an invitation mail from Bohen’s Bureau?” Amelia stared at me in shock as she held a few of her textbooks in her hand as her school bag hung on her right shoulder.“How do you expect me to know Amelia?” I asked, while I rolled my eyes in disbelief too.She leaned on her locker which was right next to mine as she kept staring at me. “Or did you mistakenly send an application letter to them?” She asked, still looking at me.I could see that look of suspicion going on in her eyes and it was definitely obvious she was thinking I secretly went behind her back to submit my application letter.“Don’t tell me you think I secretly submitted my application letter to them. You know there is absolutely no way I would even go near there. How would I even dream of working in their company? You know how much I despise them!!” I said in defense as I took out my biology textbook from my locker.“Then how in God’s name did you receive an invitation mail from them
Logan's POV. "He is no more, you have to move on as well." I snapped as I looked at Liam. "You did your best but what gain is it trying to have the Alpha pay when you are not yet an Alpha? Fighting powerful Alphas is a risky one because their bites are highly lethal to us normal werewolves." I snapped as I arranged his black suit properly. "You did your best, brother. You tried saving him but then, you couldn't and do you know the only thing he demands from you right now, Liam?" I asked as I held his cheeks. "He needs you to stay alive for him until you avenge his death." I said calmly as I arranged his black tie as I smiled at him, trying to ease the sadness."Today is his burial, you shouldn't wear such a long face at least. He will be present as well to say his last goodbyes to everyone of us before we bid him farewell forever. You don't expect him to be happy seeing you look depressed, so come on, cheer up. Cheer up, Liam." I said as I tapped his shoulder.“Do you expect me to
Logan's Point Of ViewI couldn't stop thinking about the girl from school and I happened to want to see her every single moment. I relapsed on the bed as I kept on scrolling through my phone. “Is she even on any social media?” I scowled as I couldn't find anything about her. I was curious. I couldn't understand why the sudden attraction. Never have I been this attracted to someone before, so why her? I still remember looking at her multicolored eyes. I felt lost in them. But one thing was obvious, and that was, “she was like us. She was a werewolf too.” "Good morning, young master. Your breakfast is ready." Othello mumbled as he walked into my room. I got up from the edge of my table as I walked down to my wardrobe, as I picked up a white turtleneck top and well-ironed blue trousers and then, a thick blue jean jacket. I rushed inside the bathroom as I showered, and I quickly got dressed as I got ready to leave. Othello stood right next to the door entrance as he watched me get dr
Liam's POV "How could you be so careless, Liam? You just lost your beta. And that means you are now alone. Betas are hard to replace. You had just one duty and that was to keep him safe." Alphonso growled angrily as he paced about the room. I could see his rage swelling up and the disappointment that was also setting in. I laid down on the bed as tears swelled up in my eyes. I felt this sharp pain digging in. Mother was right, 'the Alpha came back to end it all.' I groaned as I wrapped my hands in a fist. "I will make him pay!!" I cursed within as I shut my eyes. “How sure are you that the Alpha was responsible for this?” Alphonso snapped as he looked at him.“Then who could it be then? Huh?” I fired back in rage as I looked at him. “If only you had accepted to pass on your Alpha power to me, I would have fought back, I would have been able to defend ourselves.” "How could you be that careless, Liam?" Mother whimpered as she looked me right into my eyes. "What now? Do you think
