Chapter 76 Symbol of Challenge

I remember that it was a weekend and I was spending some time with my mother. We were visiting my father’s grave that Ajax had set up to pay respect to him. I did say that I was trying to spend some time with my mother, but in truth, we are barely talking to each other. For me, I am still not used to having a mother, much less a mother who needs to be watched by human nurses all the time. There’s little to no privacy between us, but this does not stop her from trying to ask me questions.

“Did you have any friends when you were young?” My mother asks me while I am busy cleaning the grave of my father.

I thought about her question for a while and could only think of Maxwell as my childhood friend. “I did.”

“Did? Aren’t you two still friends?”

“He’s dead. Even if he were alive, I wouldn’t dare call him my friend. I would rather die instead.”
