Chapter 75: Return of the Lioness
Draco’s P.O.V:
In the last four years…I had often wondered why I was still alive.
What was the point of me still living and breathing if the person that I had love with all my life since I was seventeen, was no longer beside me?
What was the point of living on when the woman I loved had sacrificed her own life to save mine?
That day, fourteen years ago…when I had been beaten to an inch of my life…that was the first day that Regina Milanesi had shown me kindness…shown me the reason for being alive after my mother had brutally killed right in front of my eyes by my own father.
And today…after four years of yet again losing the purpose of my life…I finally found it…the reason why I continued to keep on living…
“Gina…”
She wore a red suite and pants, paired with a black shirt underneat
Chapter 76: IdentityDraco’s P.O.V:“Sire?”“Get back as soon as you can.” I told Rico before he could continue. “Regina is back and I need to know how she ended up as Vincenzo’s daughter-in-law.”Hanging up the phone, I threw it onto the bed, feeling like ripping the world apart in my wake. How did this happen?Leonora Vincenzo?Fucking hell! That woman…no…she can’t…she couldn’t have betrayed me!Regina Milanesi took bullets to her body, risked her life to save me! Even though she was preg-“Fuck!” I gripped my hair in my hands, feeling like my head was splitting into two. “FUCK!”Why hadn't I asked her about my child? Our child? Did it…was it able to survive? Did I lose my child?Fuck it! How was Regina alive and well and how did she end up in Vincenzo’s lair? The last thing I remember was her throwing up at the sight of those women in the container at the port! It should’ve been a tell-tale sign that she had been pregnant, especially when she had been avoiding alcohol all along and
Chapter 77: Waiting for the Other ShoeRegina’s P.O.V:A week later…and Draco and his men had been incredibly silent. No phone calls, no texts and definitely no shadows snooping around the mansion to look for me.“Just because he’s silent doesn’t mean that he isn’t alert.” Enzo warned me. “His men had been keeping tabs on me since I was in Chicago. I’d made a pattern to hide in my mansion for months on end before I appeared in public events. It’s a pattern that had helped me travel under the radar for ages. But Leonardo’s men are well trained, especially his consigliere. Beware of him.”Enzo didn’t need to tell me twice. “I know Gabriele well enough.” I had told him. “He’s like a dog that’ll do anything to please his master, to get his attention. He has some kind of moral compass that doesn’t allow him to leave Leonardo’s shadow no matter how bad he’s being treated.”“Any particular reason for that kind of loyalty?” Enzo had raised his brows in surprise.“That’s what I’m trying to fig
Chapter 78: I was There…Regina’s P.O.V:“Buongiorno, Principessa.” I took a seat opposite the Italian beauty, who had dared to seek me out for a one on one meeting this fine morning.Looks like word travels fast and the Principessa had been the first to react to the situation as soon as I had set foot in New York yesterday. My best guess was Gabriele. After all, Draco would be the last person to send his fiancé to meet his ex. And since the call had been made late last night, after I went back to the mansion in Long Islands after the meeting at my brothel, I had a feeling that it was Gabriele’s men who saw me enter or exit the brothel and then Rosanna had been informed. The entire café had been reserved for just the two of us today and both of us had brought our fair share of bodyguards just in case they were needed. I didn’t know about the Donatello Principessa, but I had full intention of taking out everyone if they dared to even look at me the wrong way.Rosanna wore a pastel pink
Chapter 79: How far this Leads UsDraco’s P.O.V“I heard you went to meet Leonora yesterday.” I asked Rosanna as she sat opposite from me, inside a crowded little café of her choosing. “What did you talk about?”The second Gabriele had seen Leonora coming out of the brothel that she had once called her home…he had gone straight to Donatello’s daughter, to spew out his concerns and possibly to warn her that her rival had returned to take her place. But from the look on her face Rosanna must have learned a valuable lesson as well. Because she hadn't shown up or called me at all yesterday, and even her usual ‘good morning’ and ‘good night’ texts were missing. It hadn't taken long for me to figure out what was going on. It also helped that one of my men had been able to hack into Rosanna’s cell phone and had been keeping track of her movements ever since she landed in New York four years ago.I had hoped that she would’ve given up by now. If she was the one who broke the engagement, then
Chapter 80: Confronting the PastRegina’s P.O.VThis time when I stepped out of the car, I wasn’t as confident as I had been the first time.Draco was armed with the information he needed, at least some of it. I no longer had the element of surprise. He had reserved a very public place for us to meet, which had both pros and cons to it. But for me, it was now mostly cons. I couldn’t make an escape as easily and neither would I be able to be as comfortable sharing our history in the middle of hundreds of strangers. The view of the Hudson River in front of us was stunning, the water glimmering as the rays of the afternoon sun shore from the sky. However, it wasn’t the view that caught my attention…it was the man in the black blue suit and the red shirt underneath. His hair was swept in every direction by the wind, just as it tousled through mine, and it was as if he could sense me somehow…because he turned around to look at me as soon as I walked into his vicinity. His eyes scrutinized
Chapter 81: How Much Longer?Regina’s P.O.VCole opened the door for me as I got into the car, before he shut the door and silently slipped into the driver’s seat.I stayed quiet for most of the ride, letting myself collect my emotions as the fight with Draco played over and over in my head.It hadn't gone how I wanted it to go. I had become far too emotional, far too vulnerable. It’s been four years already… how could he still have a hold on my heart? A heart that I had thought was long dead and buried? The sound of a phone ringing caught me offguard, snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked towards Cole to find him handing me his cell phone.I took it from him and accepted the call, holding it to my ears instantly. “Hmm.” I answered as discreetly as I could.“Just answer with ‘yes’ or ‘no’.” Came the familiar voice from the other end of the line. “Did you have a meeting with Leonardo again today?”“Yes.” I told him truthfully, keeping my voice as low as I could.“Damnit! Vincenzo se
Chapter 82: Naïve little PestRegina’s P.O.VI woke up to a room filled with sunlight and warmth.Snuggling closer to the little bundle of warmth next to me, my little Harmona fast asleep on the pillows beside me, I opened my eyes to look into her angelic face. Her brunette hair was sprawled all over the pillows and her lips were pouting even in her sleep. It made me wonder what kind of dream she was having…was it a happy one? Where she was surrounded by her loved ones at all times and spoilt until she felt like there was no one in this world that was more loved and cherished like she was? Or was she dreaming about something sad? Perhaps a dream where she wanted something and I said ‘no’?A smile spread over my lips as my heart expanded with joy. I had never imagined I could have so much love in my heart for one person, not until I held her tiny form in my hands for the first time. Now, I pushed her hair back from her face, admiring my beautiful baby girl…and reminiscing just how much
Chapter 83: Ending it, Once and For AllDraco’s P.O.V“That was a long visit.”Rico and I watched the traffic camera footage as the Donatello van pulled out of the driveway and headed to the highway so they could go back to New York City.I watched with teeth gritting patience as Rosanna yet again tried to sabotage my plans without even informing me or so much as consulting me.“The exact timing of the visit had been exactly forty minutes and thirty nine seconds.” Rico shrugged. “I doubt that she had been entertained for that long.”“Definitely not.” I sighed. “When was this?”“Just this morning.” Rico said. “We had managed to hack into their nearest CCTV footages only on Friday night. Since then, we had been keeping tabs on all the cars entering and exiting the mansion.”“Then how had Rosanna gotten the knowledge about the mansion and about where to find Gina?” I asked him, even though I already had a clear knowledge of who it might have been.“It’s Gabriele.” Rico told me as the gat
