“I heard you went to meet Leonora yesterday.” I asked Rosanna as she sat opposite from me, inside a crowded little café of her choosing. “What did you talk about?”

The second Gabriele had seen Leonora coming out of the brothel that she had once called her home…he had gone straight to Donatello’s daughter, to spew out his concerns and possibly to warn her that her rival had returned to take her place.

But from the look on her face Rosanna must have learned a valuable lesson as well. Because she hadn't shown up or called me at all yesterday, and even her usual ‘good morning’ and ‘good night’ texts were missing.
