ALLISON.
I took a deep breath while I stood in the middle of the crowd, feeling the gust of wind and listening to the loud cheers of the people around me. Their voices thundered across the field as my opponent advanced towards me, her razor-sharp claws ready to tear me apart.
“Not today, Vanessa,” I muttered calmly as I open my eyes and easily dodged her attack.
“Damn it!” she exclaimed in apparent frustration when I swiftly slid behind her and landed a powerful kick on her back, enough to send her rolling to the ground while howling in pain.
“That’s my girl, Allison!” Emily proudly cheered, along with our other pack mates who had been watching the match.
Vanessa coughed blood, her claws retracting as she reverted to her human form. Tears well in her eyes while lying on the ground and unable to move a muscle from the excruciating pain.
My bad, I think may have overdone it. Looks like I almost snapped her spine or something.
“Vanessa can’t get up. That means, Allison is the winner! Better luck next time, Vanessa,” Quinn grabbed my hand and raised it in the air, officially ending the match and proclaiming me as the winner.
“That was quick,” I chuckled.
“Tsk. I’ll get ya next time, Allison. You’re not gonna keep winning forever,” Vanessa hissed when she finally managed to stand up after her humiliating defeat.
“Yeah, right. That was a quick 3-minute win. Maybe, you would stand a better chance if you could last for at least 5 minutes next time,” I chided, smirking.
Vanessa’s face flushed in crimson, her teeth gritting in sheer annoyance. Oops, looks like I’ve hit a nerve.
This isn’t the first time that Vanessa asked me for a duel. Heck, she’s not even the first person to do this. For some reason, ever since Quinn has given me a place in the council as her Gamma, things turned shittier for me. Some people thought I didn’t deserve the honor of holding this position, so they always found ways to take it from me. Quinn is the Alpha of Flower Moon Pack and her words are absolute, so they couldn’t just bitch around and complain in front of her to have me removed. The only way to strip me of my title is through an official duel. If they beat me, then they could have my rank and title.
But here I am, undefeated even after my 25th duel. They’re not gonna take me down easily. I am my father’s daughter, after all.
“Don’t be full of yourself, Allison. You think you’re cool because you won again?” Vanessa spat.
“Uh… yeah?”
“Tsk. The only thing you’re good at is being barbaric and sadistic. That’s probably the reason why you haven’t found a mate at 24!” she mocked. “Honestly, I’m not shocked. I guess even the moon goddess thought you weren’t decent enough to get paired with anyone. You’re going to be alone forever, Allison.”
“You bitch—"
“Enough!” Quinn marched in between and stopped another brewing fight. Vanessa threw me one final condescending look before turning around and backing away.
I would’ve gone after Vanessa and probably snap her spine for good but Quinn firmly held my shoulder, as if she was ready to break my bones if I didn’t contain my rage.
“Show’s over, folks. Now, scram off,” Quinn barked at the other spectators to which they immediately followed. Now, there’s only me, Quinn, and Emily at the field. Quinn heaved a sigh and finally released my shoulder from her ironclad grasp.
“Don’t take Vanessa too seriously, Allison. She’s just bitter that she lost to you for the third time. Girl can’t even last for three minutes without getting flung in the air,” Emily said while stroking my back for comfort.
“Vanessa is a bitch, but I have to admit, she might have a point…” I sighed and shook my head. “Her words stung because, well, she’s not entirely wrong. I’ve won every duel, but I’m still here, mateless and feeling like a permanent loser.”
Quinn gave me a reassuring look. “Hey, you’re not going to be mateless forever, Alli.”
“I don’t know, Quinn. Almost every she-wolf in our pack has found their mate, and I’m just here, still waiting. Do you think I did something to seriously annoy the moon goddess? Like, did I accidentally step on her sacred garden gnome or something?”
“To be honest, you do have a talent for getting under my skin,” Quinn chuckled. “But I don’t think it’s enough to get you cursed with eternal singlehood.”
“Great, I guess my mate is just fond of playing hide and seek from me.” I rolled my eyes and sighed.
“Alli, you may have yet to find a mate but that doesn’t mean you’re a total loser. You’re still an asset to this pack. You’re my Gamma and you’ll always be one of the strongest here.”
Emily nodded her head and threw her arm around my shoulders and smiled. “You can’t let Vanessa’s little meltdown ruin your day, Alli. You’ve got to shake off the bad vibes.”
“Exactly! It’s the last night of the Super Flower Blood Moon Festival. Time to enjoy yourself. Who knows? Maybe your mate is out there, waiting for you to trip over him on the dance floor.” Quinn smirked and wiggled her eyebrows.
I blew a frustrated breath and crossed my arms. "Isn’t there a more exciting way to spend the night, like, I dunno, napping?"
“Come on, Allison. You can’t spend the night napping. The festival’s got music, dancing, and probably a lot of questionable fashion choices. It’s a spectacle you can’t miss!” Quinn urged. “And you know that this festival is the biggest Lycan party—it only happens once every ten years! Tonight’s the Howling Moon when the true beauty of the moon finally shines through,” she added enthusiastically.
“Yeah, this is the last night of the festival. You can’t miss the Howling Moon. It’s like the grand finale of a fireworks show, but more beautiful and lots of howling,” Emily chimed in, sounding even more excited.
If they weren’t the Alpha and Beta of this pack, you’d think that they were just ordinary party girls. By the looks of it, these two won’t stop pestering me until I go with them. Worse, they’d probably just drag my ass out there.
“Fine,” I surrendered.
They exchanged a triumphant high-five before grabbing me in both arms and dragging me to Quinn’s house to get me all dolled up. Well, looks like we’re off to the Lunar Valley tonight.
--
The Lunar Valley is brimming with werewolves from every part of the country—and all from different packs. Now, that’s not something you see every day. Werewolf packs don’t usually mix with each other unless there’s a war or a party. Luckily, it’s the latter this time.
The usual serene expanse of grassy plains has been transformed into a rave paradise for lycans. Lanterns hung from every tree, casting a warm glow over makeshift bars and dance floors. Cottages dotted the valley like little inns and A DJ werewolf was spinning energetic beats that had the crowd in a frenzy.
These people know how to party, alright.
The cool night air was refreshing against my skin as I took in the spectacle of frantic werewolves who seemed to be having the best night of their lives.
“Who wants to get started with some drinks?” Emily offered while holding a tray of liquors.
“Gimme that.” I eagerly grabbed the strongest one she offered. I was determined to drown my worries in alcohol.
“Easy, girl. We the night is still young,” Quinn preached.
“Come on, this is the only way I could enjoy this party!” I complained and emptied another glass.
As I downed myself glass after glass, the bustling energy of the festival seemed to fade into the background. Emily joined her mate on the dance floor, probably to dance and make out. Who knows? Quinn, on the other hand, was off chatting with acquaintances, leaving me alone at the table. This is better. I wanted some time to enjoy being alone and get used to it. Because it seems to me that I’m bound to be alone forever, anyway.
A sigh escapes my lips as I stare at my reflection through the glass I just emptied. Being mateless feels like punishment for any werewolf. It’s an endless feeling of loneliness as if there’s a void inside your chest that you cannot fill.
It feels like you’re missing a part of yourself and you have to spend all your life trying to find that piece, only to fail time and time again. Because the only way you could ever fill that hole is once you find your other half, your mate.
Without a mate, a werewolf is just… incomplete.
I was in the middle of chugging yet another drink when a low, sultry voice tickled my ear. “You look like you could use a little distraction there, miss…” his hot breath strokes my nape, making me turn my head. Standing there was a drop-dead gorgeous guy with tanned skin, silver eyes, and jet-black hair. His smile was as smooth as his approach.
He’s hot, alright.
“Uh, who are you?”
“Just a man trying to party. I couldn’t help but notice you’re alone. Mind if I join?”
I raised an eyebrow. “Not really.”
He chuckled, clearly amused by my response. “I like a girl with a bit of fire.”
“Sorry, but my plans are clear tonight: keep drinking until I pass out. So excuse me while I go get more drinks.”
“Let me buy you some drinks, then,” he urged.
“No, thanks. I can buy my own.”
I stood up and headed toward the bar counter, hoping for more alcohol. The bartender caught my eye—blonde hair, blue eyes, and a smile that could melt hearts. Is it just me or is this place filled with handsome men?
The bartender greeted me with a charming grin. “What can I get for you?”
“Something strong enough to make me enjoy the night without burning my tongue,” I replied, trying to sound casual.
He laughed, clearly entertained. “I’ve got just the thing. Try my signature cocktail, I call it the ‘Lunar Bliss.’”
“Sounds fancy. Gimme that.”
“Coming right up, milady!” He winked at me and proceeded to whip his special cocktail.
He spun the shaker with smooth, practiced movements, his hands a blur of motion. I couldn’t help but raise my eyebrows in awe as I watched his bartending skills.
Damn, he’s pretty good with his hands.
With a final, dramatic twist, he poured the golden concoction into a glass, the liquid catching the light and shimmering enticingly. Smiling, he slid the drink across the counter.
“Have a sip and tell me if you like it. I’ll make you another one if it’s not to your liking.”
You don’t have to tell me twice. I took the cocktail from him and chugged it straight down. The bartender whistled as he watched me drain his special drink in one swift gulp.
“Someone’s thirsty…” Blondie chuckled.
“And now, I want another one,” I demanded after I cleaned it down to its last drop.
“You just down that cocktail like it was water and now you’re asking for seconds?” the guy beside me spoke, his lips curved into an amused smirk. He looked dashing with his black hair and monolid eyes behind a pair of glasses. I didn’t even notice that he has been watching me gulp that cocktail down.
“I guess I’m just trying to keep up with the festivities,” I said, giving him a playful grin. “Besides, what’s a party without a bit of booze?”
He chuckled, leaning in a bit. “You’re bold, I’ll give you that. But have you considered that the Howling Moon might make this night... more intense? Especially for you.”
I waved my hand at him dismissively. “We’re werewolves. Alcohols are as good as water to us.”
“Have you forgotten? The Howling Moon heightens everything. Senses, instincts, and apparently, even the taste of alcohol in your tongue. You’re bound to get drunk tonight, missy.”
“Okay, nerd,” I fired back, not caring a bit even if I get drunk tonight. I mean, that’s the goal, right?
The bartender burst into laughter, clearly enjoying the banter. I grabbed another drink and headed back toward the dance floor, ready to see what else the last day of this festival had in store.
I grabbed another drink and headed back toward the dance floor, feeling a bit more confident with each step. The festival was in full swing—werewolves from all packs were mingling, dancing, and letting loose under the glow of the Howling Moon. As I moved through the crowd, I stumbled upon a man with neck-length brunette hair and piercing green eyes, his bad-boy charm practically radiating from him.
Another hottie. I’m convinced that the Howling Night is just an excuse to gather all the handsome werewolves in one place.
He leaned against a nearby tree, his gaze fixed on me with a knowing smirk. I know that look. He’s interested.
I equaled his intense gaze and walked towards him. He straightened up and offered a casual nod. “Hey there, seems like you’re making the most of the night.”
I gave him a lazy grin, taking a sip of my drink. “Yeah, just trying to enjoy the party. You?”
“Just taking it all in,” he replied smoothly, pushing off from the tree. “Need a hand with that drink or are you planning to go it alone?”
Before I could respond, another figure appeared beside us—a platinum-blonde man with striking amber eyes and an effortlessly charming demeanor. He had an air of confidence that was hard to ignore.
This man just sealed the night. It’s official: this festival is a place for eye candies.
“Seems like there’s a lively conversation happening here,” he said with a smooth smile. “Mind if I join in?”
I glanced at him and raised my glass. “As long as you have something fun to offer.”
He chuckled, his eyes gleaming with mischief. “Looks like you’re looking to be entertained tonight.
I cleared my throat and emptied the glass that I was holding. For some reason, I’m starting to get even more thirsty.
“Well, what do you have in mind to keep me entertained?” I asked.
The brunette raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing at his lips. “How about a friendly competition? Let’s see who can get you to smile the most tonight.”
The platinum-blonde nodded, leaning in with a charming grin. “Or maybe we just keep it simple and see who can make your night unforgettable.”
While they banter around, I could feel my body slowly burning up, as if someone lit a match inside of me and set it aflame. A strange, tingling sensation spread throughout my body. I felt feverish and itchy… and every part of me wanted to ease it.
What is happening to me?
The man with platinum-blonde hair turns to me, his expression worried when he noticed my agitation. “You look flushed. Are you okay?”
Before I could answer, the crowd erupted in cheers, drawing my attention to the sky. The Super Flower Blood Moon was finally making its grand appearance, its pinkish glow casting an enchanting hue over the entire lunar valley. The festival’s energy seemed to surge, and I felt a sudden wave of heat flood through me.
Shit. Why do I feel so… hot?
I tried to brush it off, but the heat only intensified, leaving me feeling unsettled and strangely… horny. My breath catches in my throat and it felt as if my body is craving for a man’s touch.
Oh, no… I think I’m in heat! Damn. Why does it have to happen now of all time?
I glanced back at the two men, who were now staring at me with eyes that glowed molten gold. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks.
A pair of golden eyes… there is only one type of werewolf who has that kind of eyes… ALPHAS!
These men are Alphas!
The brunette stepped closer, his gaze intense as he inhaled deeply, his eyes fluttering closed momentarily. “You smell... so sweet,” he murmured, his voice low and husky. Something about the way he whispered to my ear sent shivers down my spine.
The platinum-blonde followed suit, his expression shifting to one of barely contained desire. He leaned in, his breath hot against my neck. “I’ve never smelled anything quite like this. It’s irresistible.”
With my heart pounding, I backed away and took a deep breath. I think I’m about to become a prey tonight.
ALLISON.I stumbled through the crowd, desperate to escape the overwhelming wave of heat that had taken over my senses. I feel so hot… so restless. The more the moon boasted its enigmatic glow in the sky, the more I felt feral. My primal instincts were slowly taking over my senses and I’m not sure if I wanted to prevent it… or embrace it.Shit. I think like I’m gonna lose my mind any moment from now! I’ve had several heat cycles in the past but nothing was as intense as this!Every step felt like wading through a thick, intoxicating fog of my own making. The werewolves around me had become predators, drawn by the sweet scent of my pheromones, and I was their prey.“Hey, missy. You smell so good. Wanna spend the night with me?” a random werewolf went to me, his breath stinking of alcohol.“Get away from me,” I replied coldly before walking past him without looking back.I tried to push through the busy crowd, but my efforts were in vain. More werewolves tried to talk to me, all of them
ALLISON.This can’t be happening! No, I must be dreaming. For the past two weeks, I have been trying to erase any traces of memory that I had from that night. It was supposed to be a bleep in my mind; something that I shouldn’t even talk about anymore. The Howling Night was a blur and I wanted to keep it that way. That night was as good as a fever dream to me. I was like an animal who let my inner instincts get the best of me. It was bold. It was primal… in the most humiliating way.“I thought we were late for the meeting. Glad to see that we’re just on time,” Liam said, his eyes still fixed on as he strode inside the meeting room.Oh my god.I could feel the tension thickening in the room as Quinn cleared his throat. “Everyone, this is Liam Miller. He’s here to discuss the potential alliance between our packs.”“Oh my, he looks like a total snack in person,” Latisha whispered giddily, her cheeks flushing red.My heart raced as he stepped forward, the air around him crackling with con
ALLISON.The room fell silent, the weight of his words hanging heavily in the air. I could feel my heart racing, caught between disbelief and a strange thrill. Why is my heart beating like this? Is it because of the way he looked at me? The brief brush of his fingertips against my skin? Or maybe those molten golden eyes, sparking the memories of the Howling Night?I swallowed hard as fragments of that night crashed into my mind, vivid and overwhelming…I remembered the way we’d collided in a haze of laughter and adrenaline, my body pressing against his as he pulled me closer. His lips had been warm and demanding, moving over mine with an urgency that sent shivers down my spine. His tongue whipping inside my mouth while his fingers stroke my nipples, pinching it until I moan.“Ahh!” I remember moaning when I couldn’t handle the pleasure he brings.“Damn. Your body is trembling with my touch, darling. Did I make you that horny?” his hot breath caressed my neck, chuckling as his lips fin
ALLISON.I couldn’t breathe as I watched the man bathing in the lake, his gorgeous pare of amber orbs looking at me as if I’m the only one he could see right now. His platinum hair danced in the wind, catching the sunlight like spun silver. The man looked absolutely dashing as the water dripped from his sculpted body, glistening against the golden ray of the setting sun. He looked as angelic as the last time I saw him. Holy shit. I can’t be mistaken; this was one of the guys that I slept with during the Howling Night! Is this the goddess’ way of messing with me?“I can’t believe my luck,” the man said, amusement evident in his voice. “I didn’t expect to see you here!”The man stared at me in total disbelief as if I was a walking—floating miracle in the lake! He started to approach and I gasped as lake’s surface, the only thing that was covering his body, slowly slipped out of his waist, revealing his naked glory.“Oh goddess! Can you put your freaking clothes on?!” I said, panicking.
ALLISON.The rustling grew louder, and I could barely breathe, my senses on high alert. I glanced up at Daniel, whose expression was focused, his forehead creased in deep concentration.“Stay still,” he instructed softly, his eyes never leaving the source of the noise.Cold sweats boiled on my forehead as the tension thickened in the air. Whatever was approaching, it was close—and we had no idea what it was.The rustling in the bushes grew more frantic, and just when I braced myself for something terrifying to leap out, a small white rabbit dashed out. It paused momentarily, looking back at me with curious eyes before hopping away, leaving me both stunned and a little sheepish.A rabbit?I couldn’t help but chuckle, the fear I was feeling melting away. “Goodness, it was just a rabbit, after all!” I exclaimed and pulled away from Daniel’s grasp. I felt silly for getting scared over a cute animal that almost resembled my childhood stuffed toy.I chuckled and stood up to approach the cut
ALLISON.My eyes flickered in crimson red as my sharp claws protrude from my fingers, ready to attack the unfamiliar man. But Daniel quickly grabbed my hand, stopping me. I turned to him in surprise and he gave me a calm smile.“It’s okay, Allison. I know him,” he said.“You know him?”“That’s Sam, my Beta,” Daniel explained before releasing my hand.Oh. I turned to the man again. He looked around the same age as Daniel and his aura exuded of authority and strength. Yup. That’s definitely a Beta. I let out a sigh of relief and revert back to my human form, my claws retracting and my eyes fading back to its hazel shade.“Sam!” Daniel enthusiastically called his Beta.Sam approached Daniel; his steps urgent. “Alpha, we have to get back to the pack. We need to discuss the result of the investigation,” he announced. Sam’s eyes briefly brushed over me before swiftly turning back to his Alpha.“Right. I’ll be there in a minute,” Daniel said.“No, we need you to return to the pack. Right now
ALLISON.“Cursed? Quinn, what are you talking about?” I asked in confusion.Quinn struggled to reply, her eyes fluttering as if every part of her body was ready to shut down. She opened her mouth, but no sound came out. Panic surged through me as I watched my cousin—my Alpha—reduced to this fragile state. I’ve never seen her this weak in my life, not even when we were kids! Quinn was a warrior, a fierce leader, a champion in every sense. Seeing her like this made my heart ache; it felt surreal, as if I had fallen into a nightmare from which I couldn’t wake up.“Please, Quinn… wake up. Don’t die on me like this. Quinn!” I begged as tears threatened to fall from my eyes.Just then, the bathroom door swung open, and Anna, one of the maids, rushed in, her widened in horror when she saw Quinn’s condition. “Alpha!” she exclaimed, dropping to her knees beside Quinn.Without hesitation, Anna helped Quinn to her feet, guiding her back to the bed. I watched in a daze as Anna expertly cleaned up
ALLISON.10 years ago…The night erupted in chaos as the Flower Moon Pack was plunged into a nightmarish hell. Shadows flitted across the grounds, illuminated by flickering flames, while growls and shouts echoed ominously in the air. My skin crawled in fear. Are we going to die?Quinn was tightly holding my hand as we stealthily move along the burning houses, trying to find our brothers. Sullivan burst through the fray, his face etched with urgency as he found us amidst the chaos. “Allison! Quinn!” he called.“Sullivan! What’s happening?” I asked, my heart racing.“Get back! We’re under attack! You both need to hide. Now!” he ordered. “But how about you? Your arm is bleeding!” I exclaimed din panic. Sullivan was a strong man, he was even dubbed as the “untouchable warrior”. The fact that he has an injured arm right now meant that the enemies were far more dangerous than we thought.“Don’t think about me, Alli. You have to take Quinn and hide. More enemies are bound to come. You two n
ALLISON.Hudson tossed the machete back into the car and grabbed my arm firmly. “My Alpha can handle them. Marcus and Ethan could take on the rest. Oh, and we also have good ol’ Victor here. He’s not only a decent driver, he fights good too. Now, you and me need to get out of here. You’re not safe here. Now move.”Hudson nodded at the two other werewolves, Ethan and Marcus, that were with us in the car and the ghoul driver, Victor. They were also fighting off the other rogues, trying to create a way for Hudson and me to escape. The limo was useless with its blown tire, so Hudson’s eyes landed on one of the rogues’ motorcycles. He ran to it, pulling a rogue off and pounding his fist to his face, knocking him down. What a brute! Hudson cocked an eyebrow at the unconscious rogue on the ground before stole his bike, swinging a leg over the seat like it was meant to be his.“Hop on!”“What? I don’t know how to ride that thing!” I stammered.“Good thing you don’t have to. Yet. Now, come her
ALLISON.Shit. This wasn’t how I expected my return trip to Missouri to be like. I instinctively clutched my stomach. Normally, I would be down for a fight. But it’s different now. I’m pregnant and I need to prioritize my baby’s safety above all.“This is why I like to stay in Chicago,” River muttered under his breath. He sounded both bored and utterly disappointed. Two of the rogues began to pound on the limo’s window which made me jolt. The look on their faces told me that they weren’t joking earlier. They were really going to drag us out of this car if we didn’t get out soon. The tension in the limousine was suffocating. My hands were clenched so tightly on my lap that my nails dug into my palms. Damn it. The rogues circled us like vultures, their growling motorcycles revving ominously as if to intimidate us. Honestly, they looked more like a biker gang than actual rogue werewolves. Maybe, it was their twisted way of blending into human society. Not that it made them look less thre
ALLISON.River cocked a brow and offered me a plate of cheese cuts and salami.“Don’t mind if I do,” I muttered, reaching for a slice of salami.Delicious.River watched me intently as I ate, his smirk softening into something almost… tender. “You’re making that look delicious,” he murmured, a teasing glint in his eye.I felt myself blushing as I fumbled for another piece. “It’s just salami, River,” I mumbled, suddenly self-conscious under his gaze.Hudson’s eyes sparkled with amusement. “I’ll be honest,” he said, leaning back with a smirk. “I’m shocked you managed to convince our Alpha here to get involved. He’s usually pretty reclusive, you know. If I’d known he could breathe outside Chicago, I’d have bet money against it.”What’s the use of his private jet if he didn’t really travel much out of Chicago, anyway?Hudson was looking at me like I was an amusing sight. “I knew you were something when I first met you at the club looking for the Warlock Alpha. But I guess you’re even more
ALLISON.“Are you all packed?” River asked me the next day. We’re set to go back to Missouri today so he came dropped by the Green residence to pick me up.Miraculously, Mason didn’t try to kill him this time. I guess our little talk yesterday helped him calm down a bit. Life was peaceful when I didn’t have three Alphas who were actively trying to rip each other’s throats.“I don’t really have anything to pack. The only thing I came here with was a silver bullet buried in my body,” I said which was true. Mason provided me some clothes that I wore for the past days that I stayed here but they weren’t originally mine. Melissa said that they were new clothes that Mason’s personal shopper bought for me but I couldn’t bring myself to claim that it was mine.“In that case, let’s get a move on before that viper decides to bomb my jet,” River said and I nodded my head. We walked to the great expanse of the golden-plated hallways leading to the main foyer.River offered that we use his private
ALLISON.I felt my pulse quicken. “If you knew who I was… why’d you let me get close? Why let me…?” I trailed off, too flustered to finish the sentence. I gave this man a freaking lap dance because I thought I was doing a good job as a spy! I thought I was distracting him but it turned out he was having his own damn show!A ghost of a smirk played on his lips. “Because I wanted to feel you again. I’ve been craving your touch since the Howling Night. I hated it but I also desperately crave for it.”I swallowed hard. My cheeks flushed red in embarrassment.“I brought you here because I knew I’d never forgive myself if I something bad happen to you that night. I knew I’d never be able to sleep again if I couldn’t save you. But when you woke up, the first thing you did was to demand to get out of here.” His voice grew hard, his jaw clenched. “To what? Just to meet with the very same bastard who put you in danger in the first place! How can you easily brushed me off while you desperately l
ALLISON.“W-We don’t know that yet,” I stammered as I felt the heat rushed to my cheeks.“I know.” Wesley smiled and kissed my forehead. My heart skipped a beat. “But that doesn’t mean you can get rid of me, Allison.”Wesley Morgan, the charming man that you are.He smiled as he twirled my hair with his fingers. "If you plan to talk with Mason next, you can check the library. He'd probably there.""You seem to know him a lot. Are you two friends?"Come to think of it, Mason even told Wesley that he'd found me. The viper seemed comfortable sharing information with him.Wesley chuckled. "Worse. We're cousins.""What?""Yeah, our grandfathers are brothers, so that makes him my third degree cousin," Wesley replied. Now, that's news. I didn't know that the infamous Mason Green descended from the legendary Morgan bloodline."Go on. I know you needed to talk to him too."Following Wesley's suggestion, I went to the library and he was right. Mason Green was there, settled on a plush couch whi
ALLISON.“Don’t try to sweet talk me now. You’re an Alpha and not just any Alpha—a Morgan at that. You wouldn’t come all the way here without getting anything in return. Just say what you really want from me and let’s get this over with,” I said.Wesley held my gaze for a few seconds before he heaved a sigh. “You’re sharp, I’d give you that.” He placed the glass on a table and turned to me. “Allison, what happened during the Howling Night was one for the books, that’s for sure. But I didn’t expect that I’d meet you again, especially after you ditched us the next morning…”My face flushed red as I remembered how I frantically scrambled out of the room that morning. Well, there was no way I could face the five men after all the freaky things we did the previous night.“We didn’t get to know your name or any of your whereabouts. I thought that would be the end of it until Mason called me four days ago, telling me that he’d found you. That you’re unconscious in his mansion and he wasn’t s
ALLISON."Look, you know that the fragment is the only thing that can save my cousin. You know how bad her curse is. You said you’d help me. So now I’m here, asking for it. Give me another task in exchange for that. If you want, I will track down those vampires who stole the Mollagona filed. I’d do it.”River looked at me for a moment, his gaze unreadable. For a second, he didn’t speak, and I could feel the weight of his silence pressing down. The way he kept everything locked inside. He didn’t like giving things away. He didn’t care about people like that. He knew damn well how to drive people crazy in times like this!“Let’s get something straight, Allison,” River began in a low voice, his tone almost bored. “You think I’m some kind of monster who only cares about what’s convenient for me?”I didn’t flinch. “I think you’re a businessman. You don’t do things for free.”Didn’t he make that pretty clear when I met him at his club? His jaw tightened slightly, though the rest of him rema
ALLISON.Alphas were, to say the least, stubborn creatures. They lived according to their own rules and they won’t do something unless they get to do it in their own terms. Alphas were the epitome of authority—the top of the Lycan food chain. They love to talk shit but they would never tolerate any insult directed to them. So, I wasn’t shock that our supposedly peaceful breakfast turned out like this…“I dare you say that again, you fucking miserable prick!” Mason lunged at River, shoving off some of the plates and silverwares as he angrily grabbed him across the table.Damn! These Alphas were driving me nuts!River let out a humorless cackle as he effortlessly brushed off Mason’s grip. “I said Allison shouldn’t stay with a brute like you. Who knows how many vampires you’re hiding in this goddamn hellhole?”Mason gritted his teeth, fury burning in his eyes. “You should mince your words while you’re in my turf, Perez or I swear I’ll rip your motherfucking jaw off,” he warned in a guttu
