Chapter 3

In the Plane:

While walking toward the plane, Kate is flying with the same Airline she will be working with. This is her first job and she has never been excited like this. Upon entering the plane, Kate was greeted by the flight attendants as she entered the plane. One male crew smiled at her gracefully and ushered her to her seat. Kate felt so welcomed. She thanked the crew and made herself comfortable in her seat. She’s seated at the aisle. She was busy checking on her phone when a man stood by the aisle.

Jake cleared his throat and said, “Hi, I’m sorry to disturb you”. Kate stopped scrolling at her phone instantly upon hearing the familiar voice.

She looked up and she was shocked to see Jake standing in front of her.

I’m sorry, I’m seated right next to you, Jake said showing his seat number.

“No don’t be”, Kate replied and gave way.

Thank you, Jake said and made his way to his seat and settled in.

Kate sat down thinking, still shocked for what just happened. She couldn’t assimilate that the guy she’s trying to avoid is seated right next to her. Is this just a coincidence. Kate tried to relax and just act normally as she can.

After the plane has taken off, she tried to shift her attention to the magazine. She didn’t even want to glance at him. Kate felt so uncomfortable. She took the magazine and glued her eyes to it.

Jake’s point of view:

I didn’t know that we are seated together. I think I made her more uncomfortable. I have to apologize to her but how will I start? Without thinking, he started the conversation.

Kate, he called her name out.

Kate looked at him and answered,” Yes Jake?”

I want to apologize to you for making you uncomfortable earlier. I’m really sorry, it’s just that…

It’s just what Jake?

Jake got caught up, instead he said, “I mean I shouldn’t acted that way”

It’s alright, don’t worry about it.

“So Friends then?” Jake asked and held his hand out.

Kate looked at Jake and then to his hand. She was hesitating but she shook his hand and replied “friends”.

Jake smiled at Kate after they shook hands. Kate did the same thing. While both of them were busy smiling at each other, a cabin crew approached.

Hi Captain, we just want to check if you would like to transfer to business class?

Kate was confused upon hearing the crew and she was surprised when Jake responded “oh thank you so much, I appreciate it but that won’t be necessary.

Alright Captain. If there’s anything you need just let us know.

Sure, thank you so much. I appreciate it and the crew left.

Kate was astonished with what she just witnessed.

So the man sitting right next to me that I just made friends with is a Pilot? Great. Well, I changed my mind. I’m not interested to make friends with him. What is he trying to do? Trying to impress me? To get me in his bed? Nope not me. I heard a lot of things about a pilot’s whereabouts and what they do after their flight and I’m not impressed about it, Kate thought to herself.

While Kate is busy with her thoughts, Jake was staring at Kate. Curious about her facial reactions that suddenly changed. Kate, is everything alright? Jake asked.

Oh yeah, yeah everything is fine. Kate’s immediate response with a smile and pretended that nothing is going on. Jake smiled and contented with her answer. Afterwards, the cabin crew came and offered them their snacks but both of them didn’t want anything.

Would you like some champagne? Jake asked Kate.

Oh, sssure.. Kate replied hesitantly. It’s just a glass of champagne she thought to herself.

They both enjoyed their champagne. Jake initiated the conversation. They talked about some funny stuff in the training and Kate realize that Jake seems to be fun and harmless. Jake on the other hand enjoyed their conversation and Kate’s company.They both didn’t realize that the airplane is landing soon.

This lady is very interesting. She’s not only beautiful but has a sense of humor and I love her  company. You will never get tired of listening at her cute laughs and looking at her. I would love to spend more time with her more.  Jake thought to himself. Kate, would you like to have dinner with me on Friday night?

Kate was busy checking her bag when Jake asked her that question that made her startled. Excuse me?

I’m asking you if you would like to join me for a dinner on Friday night?

Ahhmn.. I’m not sure about my schedule yet.  Kate replied.

Ok, Jake said.

The plane had landed and all the passengers had lined up to exit.  Kate stood up and Jake suddenly hold  her hand and asked “will anyone pick you up? 

No one, I'll take a taxi, Kate replied while pulling her hand but Jake didn't let go instead he said "I'll take you to your place". 

No need Jake I can go home thank you. Once again she tried pull her hand from his hand but Jake still didn't let go of it and said it's late at night, its not safe for you. Let me drop you off to your place. 

Kate thought that he has a point anyway and she’s new to this place so she nodded and agreed to the young man's wishes.

Kate and Jake got out of the airport at exactly 11:00 p.m.  A black Mercedez was waiting for them.  The older driver immediately came down and greeted Jake.  Good evening Sir.  Welcome home says the driver with a smile on his face while taking Jake’s a luggage. Good evening Peter, thank you.

Peter this is Kate and we will drop her off to her place first before we head home. 

Good evening Ms. Kate welcome, Peter said with a smile on his face while taking her luggage as well.

Kate gladly smiled and replied Good evening Peter.  Thank you so much. 

Jake gave Kate’s address to his driver before they started to move.  While on the road, Kate could not hide the happiness she felt towards the beauty of the places they passed. Her eyes twinkle with every light they pass and her smile is so beautiful. Jake, on the other hand, was overjoyed as he watched Kate's angelic face full of joy.  When Kate turned around, she was surprised to see Jake staring at her while smiling and told her don’t worry, I will take you on a tour.

Kate just smiled at what he said.  A few minutes later they arrived at the apartment where Kate will be staying. The driver took out her luggage bag and Kate thanked him. 

Jake pulled Kate's luggage towards the door of the apartment. 

Thanks Jake, Kate said.

 For?  Jake asked. 

With all your kindness and for dropping me off, Kate said.

Its my pleasure.  If its not late at night, I would have invited you to dinner but I know you're tired from the trip so I postponed it on Thursday night if you may.

Kate didn’t know what to answer and just smiled at him instead and said good night Jake. 

Jake smiled and said I’ll take that as a yes. See you soon Ms. Hamilton. Goodnight and moved toward his car and left.
