Ch. 66 CHOOSE ONE

Alpha James’s POV

A sharp pain in my chest woke me from my sleep. My wolf howled inside me, warning that our mate was in trouble. The pain was so intense that I could barely move, paralyzed as I stared up at the ceiling of my room.

I became aware of someone else on the bed and turned to see Carol murmuring in her sleep, her head resting on my chest. Disgust crashed over me. I was tired of her constant clinging. If she weren't pregnant, I would have shoved her off the bed.

Gritting my teeth against the ache in my chest, I threw off the covers and got up, walking over to the balcony doors. What I saw in the courtyard below made my jaw drop.

Some of my warriors were lying lifeless on the ground. The morning sun was beating down on their bodies, burning their skins, some of their skins were already smoking red. I couldn't tell if they were dead or just unconscious, but the area was utterly trashed, with blood staining the dirt. Someone had breached the packhouse grounds, but who? As far a
