Ch. 70 THE SEARCH

Michael’s POV

The sun beat down mercilessly on the streets of the Duskfall pack, its brilliant rays reflecting off the street as I sat in the backseat of the car, gazing indifferently out the window. This was my first time in another pack's territory, but I couldn't bring myself to enjoy the view or explore. My sole focus was on finding Emily and rescuing her from Robert's clutches.

We'd been driving for hours, but there was still no sign of her—no one who had even seen her. I frowned as the car came to a stop in front of an open-air restaurant, customers dining at the various tables. Nicholas, who was behind the wheel, reached over to stroke the wolfhound's head, the animal barking excitedly beside him.

"Why did we stop?" I asked, and my voice spiked with annoyance.

"We have been driving all night," Nicholas replied, opening the door at his side of the car. "We need to rest and refuel." The wolfhound jumped out after him, and I reluctantly followed them.
