Ch. 50 WAKE HIM UP

Alpha James’s POV

Tears streamed down my face as I clutched my brother's pale, limp hand. Michael lay motionless on the bed, the full moon's ethereal light filtering through the window. His eyes were twitching, but he wasn’t opening his eyes.

He had reverted to his human form, but that brought little comfort. The pack doctor insisted this was no mere coma, and the words did nothing to ease the guilt that gnawed at my soul.

The soft footfalls of approaching steps pulled me from my trance. I turned to find Carol entering the room with a bowl of warm water and a towel draped over her shoulder.

"You should get some rest," she murmured. "I will stay with Michael for now and give him all the attention he needs; you don’t have to worry too much."

She set the bowl on the nightstand, dipping the towel into the steaming water before wringing it out. Gently, she lowered the blanket covering Michael's body and began tenderly wiping his face and neck.

I watched in silence for a moment before speak
