Ch. 58 THE FUNERAL

Alpha James’s POV

Anger simmered in my veins as I strode towards the greens where Emily and Nicholas had hidden themselves. The sight of the homicidal bitch stirred up the flames of fury burning in my gut - how dare she show her face after committing such an unforgivable act?

Ignoring Emily entirely, I rounded on my beta with a curt bark. "Nicholas! You are needed at the ceremony grounds, what are you doing lurking in the shadows with this murderer?" I snarled. "You were meant to bring in the prisoner, not runaway with her."

Nicholas didn't argue or attempt to make excuses. "Alright, Alpha," he said with a nod. He swiftly moved to re-secure the gag between Emily's lips, silencing whatever lies or false cliches she might have offered.

I watched the exchange, mildly surprised that she didn't so much as whimper or plead her case. A spark of doubt wrestled its way into my thoughts, only for Davin's gruff tones to quickly extinguish it.

"She is far more than a simple Omega," my wolf rumble
