BLAIR'S POV

I hadn't gone for any files at all, but had to come up with something, after everything Jane said.

My mind kept revolving around the state of Brian’s company.

‘Was the company in trouble?’

‘If it was, why didn't Brian say anything to me?’

‘Was that why he ran away to Winchester?’

‘Was all of this just a scheme to keep me away from the problem?’

‘If Brian was innocent, why did he have to be in hiding?’

‘Perhaps, he took the gold because the company was suffering and he didn't want to tell me.’

‘Or was this all just a lie?’ I hoped.

My thoughts were going in a million different directions and I wasn't sure what to think or say anymore.

I snuck right back into my room, with a bag of my father's files, a very big, heavy bag and fell freely into the bed, landing on my back.
