CHAPTER 36

"What did you say?" Reed couldn’t believe what he had just heard from Diana. It wasn’t entirely impossible for her to be pregnant by him. She had been his constant partner before he met Clarisa, though he had always used protection. Still, something might have gone wrong.

He pulled at his hair in frustration. Problems seemed to be piling up. "How did this happen, Diana? We haven’t been together for a long time. And now you’re calling to say you’re pregnant?"

"Well... I hid my pregnancy from you. But I’ve realized that I shouldn’t deny our child a father," Diana replied.

Reed took a moment to think. If he was indeed the father, he wouldn’t reject the child. The baby was innocent. However, he needed to be sure. He would get a DNA test after the baby was born, just in case Diana was lying.

"What do you want me to do, Diana?" he asked, his mind still blank and unsure of what to do.

"I want you to take responsibility for us, your child and me."
