Deandra pov

“I got the job!” I screamed on the phone. Ryder was quiet for a moment after hearing what I said, I wasn’t expecting such a reaction from him over the phone.

“Are you there Ryder?” I asked.

“Hey, it’s good news. I mean, it’s a good thing, now you can live comfortably.” He said to me, sounding very unenthusiastic. I know why he wasn’t happy ahd I wasn’t going to push him to say more.

He’s been trying to convince me to live with him but I have refused which is the reason he’s sounding like that.

“Ryder, you’ve done a lot for me, even without knowing much about me, which is why I chose not to be a burden to you anymore and see, I got the job.” I said to him trying to convince him to be happy with me.

“I understand you Andra.” I let out a soft smile and ended the call.

While heading back home I was very excited. Stopped by the store and bought some things for myself. It felt good because for a moment I could finally forget the hurt I’ve been nursing.
