CHAPTER 004

ALPHA

(Five years later.)

"Enough of all this!" I shouted as I paced my study.

I pushed down all the books on my desk. I heard the sound of an electronic chattering. I looked down to the floor and noticed that my phone had fallen together with the book.

Pain from the loss of my phone boiled together with the anger I already felt, making me punch the wall. All my anger was soon replaced by pain. I felt an electric rush run down my spine, and my fingers went numb for a few seconds.

I quickly staggered to my chair and sat there. I held up my hands and began to blow my fingers. I shut my eyes tightly and inhaled sharply.

The door slowly opened, and Simon walked into the room.

"What is the matter this time?" He asked as he took his seat beside me.

I grabbed the letter on my table and handed it over to him. He quickly took the paper from me and scanned through the content of the pages with his eyes before he dropped the paper before sighing deeply.

"When are you going to lower your pride and seek help?"

I turned to him with a frown.

"What do you mean by when will I lower my pride and seek help? Have I not done everything I can to see that the deaths stop?"

Simon smiled and shook his head. He stayed quiet for a while before he finally spoke up.

"You and I know it very well that this pack is under a curse and needs to be saved."

"Even our seers and healers have not been able to ascertain the curse of the deaths," I spoke with my head lowered in pain. "I lost my father first."

"And my father died next," Simon added.

I turned to him angrily.

"This is not a competition of pain!"

Simon stood up to his feet and walked towards my table. He stared at the books on the floor, and then he bent down to pick up my phone.

"The fact that our seers and healers are unable to help does not mean that no one else can. I know who can help. I know someone who is unbeatable in the whole universe."

I stood up to my feet with my eyes wide open.

"For three years now, this pack has been under a curse, and you kept mute with the solution in your hand?"

"Your pride would not let you ask for help outside, Alpha......."

I sighed deeply.

Somehow, it was my fault. I had shunned off any talks of seeking help outside. I was also being protective. I didn't want rogues and other packs to see that as an opportunity to attack the pack.

"Who is this person?" I asked, making up my mind to accept help from whoever it was that would be able to help us.

"She lives in a far away village. I will drop her address with you."

I furrowed my brow when I realised that Simon was placing our pack under the safety of a woman.

"A woman?" I asked with a frown.

He narrowed his eyes at me and scoffed after.

"If you don't want to be helped, then, let it be. I'll drop her number with you still. If you like, consult her. If you're not ready, then let it be."

He realised that my phone was broking, and dumped it on the table. He picked up a pen and paper and wrote down a phone number and an address for me before walking away.

After he left, I picked up the paper and starred at it until my vision blurred out.

***

I was now seated in an unfamiliar sitting room. A place that was about a hundred kilometres away from my pack. The sitting room was made of gold, and although the house was a small house, it smelt wealth and affluence.

I could see skeletons hanging around the sitting room. I was still taking in the sight when I began to perceive a very strong perfume. I looked up to see a woman carrying a very strong aura walking into the living room.

She stopped to stare at me for a while before she took her seat.

Something was drawing me towards this woman, and I didn't know what it was. I knew that she wasn't my second chance mate. When I rejected my mate a long time ago, I heard my wolf say it out loud. "Mate."

The woman walked towards the other couch by my left hand side, and sat there.

"You are the prince who wants to deliver his pack from a curse?" She asked, her lips pressed together, and her gaze fixed on the door as though she was waiting for something.

"Yes," I responded. "I need to save my pack before I loose all my warriors and pack members."

She sighed deeply.

I watched her closely as she began to whisper words that I could barely hear or make meaning out of.

Her voice sounded vaguely familiar, and even her face looked familiar. I admired the beauty who sat in front of me.

Most of her skin were covered with her silver linen, and her feet rested majestically in the silver heels she wore. I could only see her face and fingers, and they were pure white without a spot.

"I can only help you if I stay in your pack," she spoke curtly. "I need to see everyone who is already sick from whatever ailment is killing your pack. I will need to test their blood sample to find out what is wrong with them. Those who are not sick already... they will also fall sick soon. I need to do everything to keep them safe. "

I nodded my head.

"I will prepare a place for you to come over to the pack if that's all it takes. My pack is big enough."

"I will have to take your sample first," she interrupted me. "I will get ready my tools, as you prepare a place for me to stay."

I could not stop myself from staring so lustfully at this woman. The fact that she seemed so familiar, and the fact that she also sounded so familiar wasn't helping matters. I felt something for her, and I wanted her.

"Prepare a room for two since my husband is too busy and wouldn't be able to watch over my daughter."

I was shocked when she mentioned that she had a daughter and a husband. More than shocked, I was jealous. She was already taken. I hoped to make her fall for me with my charms during the years she would spend over at my pack. Now all hopes of having her were chattered.

I was about to ask Sylvia about her kid when the inner door opened, and a little girl walked out of the room. She had piercing silver eyes like my father's.

I felt my stomach rumble, and my head immediately began to swell when I saw her. I had thought at first that I was hallucinating and seeing my late father's image in this girl.

I looked almost exactly like my dad, but there was something about his silver eyes that had never been seen in any human.

"Mom," the kid called in a soft velvety voice.

She looked so innocent as she approached us. The lady turned around on hearing her daughter's footsteps.

"Will you get the hell back to your room?"

For the first time, I heard the meek lady speak harshly. Her daughter scurried away, and she faced me again and forced a smile.

"You will need to leave now, as I have important things to attend to," she faced the inner door again as she ended her talk.

She turned to me.

I stood up to my feet. I began walking towards the door. I grabbed the doorbhandle and paused. There as no way I would know this woman who lived a hundred metres away from my pack. Yet, I was tempted to ask her name.

I slowly turned around, and saw her standing in front of her seat. She was staring at me.

"What is your name," I asked her.

"Sylvia, " she replied with a smirk.
