SLEEPING BEAST

ARIANA’S POV~

I couldn't believe our child led me to find him, I looked at his cold wet face as the medics wheeled im away in the gurney.

I touched his chest and sighed “I thought I lost you forever. You scared me Mateo” I whispered.

He stirred and for a second his eyes opened and he looked at me, “Becky…” he called before closing his eyes again.

I was taken aback by this, Becky?...

Have I been stupid all this while?

Why was he thinking about Becky, I couldn't believe what I'd heard, it felt like a reality check I wasn't ready for.

A few hours later we all surrounded him as he lay hooked to wires and tanks.

“Oh My God,” I cried softly, my hands shook in anxiety and I felt my child kick again.

I was scared and my baby could feel that.

“ shit Mateo I thought we lost you” I heard Julius say under his breath, glad to have his boss back, he turned to me and nodded in gratitude.

I gave a small smile and that seemed to have irritated Becky.

“What the fuck are you so happy about? just look at what you have done to my bunny, we don't even know if he is going to make it” she mentioned, touching his hair softly.

It annoyed me immensely but in this situation, I didnt know how to react, she was his fiance before the coma, and now I was wishing she never woke up.

“Look, Ariana saved him, a few hours more he probably would be dead, so please give her a break,” Serena said in my defence.

I shot her a smile before the doctor walked in Becky glared at me with murderous intent.

“Im sorry but only family members are allowed in here” he started, “im his fiancee” Becky replied almost immediately.

“Im sorry but only spouses or blood relatives, everyone else has to leave” he retorted.

“Im his wife” I declared, it sounded strange saying it out loud.

But he told me he thinks he is falling in love with me until he wakes up and explains that, I'll make damn sure he gets the best care possible.

I owed him that.

“Bitch!, you are not his wife and when he wakes up he is going to clear all this up!” Becky started, I heard her curse under her breath before storming out of the room.

Everyone else left except Julius.

“Im staying” he declared, the doctor was about to refute before I cut him short and gestured for him to go on.

“Im just going to give you the bad news first, he is not doing good, he has sustained a severe head and spinal injury, and we had to induce a coma.” the doctor started.

I started to get anxious again, I felt the child inside me flutter around aimlessly.

It's not a good time to be playful baby.

“We are hoping he wakes up soon to evaluate the extent of the damage, the good news is his figures are improving,” he added before turning to me.

“By morning we are going to stop the medications and wait for him to wake up himself, lets be hopeful, he is showing good improvement” he finished, nodded and walked away.

I stood there quietly before Julius muttered something and I turned to him.

“We can't let anyone know about this, they know we have found, him but no one knows where Silvio is Ariana” he started.

I couldn't grasp what he was saying, all I just wanted was for Mateo to open his eyes.

I need him to wake up.

“You are going to have to step up Ariana, until he is back on his feet, you are now Don and you would have to manage the estate in his name, you know what that means Ariana?”  he stated.

I looked in horror as the words left his mouth, “That means you are going to have to get ready for this war, you are calling the shots now, you are Mrs Donatelli” he finished.

“No!” I exclaimed, “No I can't do that Julius, this is already crazy enough for me, this morning a doctor just told me that I lost my child, but for some miracle, my child led me to its father, and now you want me to put myself again in harm's way to satisfy bloodthirsty men” I inquired, “im not putting myself at risk, get his fiance to do it” I added before attempting to walk out.

“You are his wife, not her and everyone knows that now,” I heard before closing the door behind me.

I saw Serena walking towards me with a cup of coffee.

“Are you okay?” she asked, I sighed and sat on the waiting seat outside his room.

“It's not good Serena, he is seriously injured, they don't know if he might make it” I confided.

This made me miss Fiona, in all of this hassle, I didnt know when I stopped thinking about my dear friend.

“Look at the brighter side, he is alive, he finally gets to answer your question, so don't give up okay we are almost at the finish line,” Serena said before giving me a small smile.

Then she took a sip of the coffee.

“What’s going on with you, that's not all there is” she mentioned before taking my hand.

“Julius wants me to step up and take control of his territories until he wakes up, Serena I don't think I can do that, it's all so much” I replied.

“Honestly, I thought I would die at Massimo’s but then you came even though you got yourself caught” she laughed.

I gave a small laugh, “yeah” I said.

“You've got this Ari, you have a squad and Julius to help you, and im right here if you need me,” she said affectionately.

I gave her a small hug before we noticed Becky passed us and walked toward the room.

Our eyes met and I knew she would stop at nothing to see me gone.

“Well we can't let Becky do it, turns out she could be crazy” Serena joked before laughing.

I shook my head and gave a small laugh, “still I feel like I ruined her life, she was supposed to be Mrs. Donatelli you know” I reminded her.

“Look shit happens, one way or another all this craziness was bound to happen, you would have come home some other day and he would have still wanted to fuck you” she said before rubbing my hands in hers.

“Yeah,” I smiled as memories we shared in the tunnels flashed by.

“She’s just going to have to deal with the new reality when he wakes up,” she said.

I nodded again.

That's when the bell in Mateo’s room started going off, and Becky was screaming “Doctor! He is awake! Nurse!”

I got up and sprang to the room, others followed.

“Oh my god baby” I heard Becky panic, I stood at the foot of his bed when I saw his eyes start to slowly open.

Oh my God finally it's happening, he is finally waking up.

He started to mumble as his eyes struggled to stay awake.

“Mmmmmm” he started.

We leaned closer to him and he mumbled again and stretched out his arm towards me.

“Becky…….baby”
