3. The cheat

Meanwhile in the General hall, the students and everyone are directed to the banquet hall where they are to have a small reception and to dance as well. They all get there and many pairs are formed. some decide to sit with thier boyfriends while others made new friends. A DJ was hired by the staff but he can only play cool songs excluding hip hop and ones that contain explicit languages.

Mr Noboa is walking around making sure all the students are in order and present but he didn't take note of Daniel's absent. He made sure strong drinks weren't served to student so they wouldn't get drunk as this was a promise the school had made to Parents.

Sarah is with her friends, Trice and Shinel. They seem to be having fun when Harris shows up.

  “Hey, you girls are enjoying the night?", He asks smiling at them

  “What does it seem like we’re doing?” Trice responds with an irritated tone

She has always not being a fan of Harris and always made a mockery of his height. Nevertheless, Harris was a handsome guy, he had nice eyes, nice lips especially and nice legs but like they say, you can’t have everything.

  “Come on, I was just asking?” He says in a soft tone

 “Well find people who are your height to ask that, not us”. Trice says this time looking more agitated

 “Trice… don’t be harsh”, Sarah says.

 “No let her be” Harris tells Sarah and then he turns to Trice and says as calm as he could “I am not the only person who’s a hundred and sixty seven centimeters tall”.

“Then go join them, last I checked, that’s height for gir--”

 The soft slow song played by the DJ is cool enough to get everyone’s temper from going above the threshold but it isn’t cool enough to hold Trice’s friends from lashing out. Only that in this instance, their entire wrath is concentrated on one word and that word is a name.

“TRICE”, they both yell a bit above their normal audacity range just as she is about to finish the word girls.

“Why do you always do this to him?” Shinel asks with a voice of pity, from her eyes, she was really feeling it. However Trice just gets annoyed, she's not happy with her friends for rebuking her. She hates Harris for her own reasons and expects everyone to accept it so.

“You know what? I’m done here”, Trice says as she walks away.

Shinel tries to call her back but she goes away not listening.

“Harris then tries to apologize to them for spoiling their time by chasing their friend away.

 Naa you didn’t do that, she always hurts you with her words” Sarah says,

“It’s good we tell her whether she gets annoyed or not” Shinel concludes as she’s off following Trice, so she could console her.

Now Harris and Sarah are left alone, he keeps looking at her, and then he remembers why he came.

"Wait a second; I brought you this", he says putting his hand in his pocket.

Turns out it’s the wrong one as he finds nothing there. He then descends his left hand into his left pocket and brings out what appears to be a bracelet. It is shiny blue in color matching Sarah’s outfit as she’s in a blue gown.

"Take it, it’s yours he says giving it to her"

 Sarah isn't someone who likes accepting gifts from people, “No I can’t take it Harris that looks expensive" she says

"Come on, what’s the worst that could happen? I promise I bought it with my own money, I was suppose to give you on Valentine’s day but I wasn’t around"

"Well I’ll keep it then as you insist" Sarah says smiling, she can see how bad Harris would feel if she denies it.

Harris was happy as he left to join for his friends. Some few minutes, pairs can be seen together. 

Meanwhile, Gilbert is looking for Daniel; it appears Sarah is not dancing with anyone, so he knows Daniel could take this chance. After effortlessly looking, he batches into Ramsen.

“Hey have you seen Dan?”

“I don’t think that pussy can be around here. Go and check him in the kinder garden, that’s where he’s supposed to be”

He laughs and walks away with his friends, Noel and Steve but Gilbert understands. Ramsen is always so problematic and everyone knows this. While Gilbert is looking around, he sees something that shocks him. Glenn is kissing Sarah’s friend, this makes him unhappy, he knows he has his ways with women but this was too much as Sarah was around and he fears she could see them.

   “Hey man, what are you doing?”  He asks as he interrupts them.

  “What do you mean by that bro; I’m busy, what’s wrong? Just go, we’ll talk later”.

As he is about to continue with the kiss, Shinel refuses. She’s aware Gilbert knows she’s friends with Sarah.

  “Hi Gilbert”, she greets with her face down as she walks away shamefully.

  “Shinel, Shinel, come on, don’t go”, Glenn calls her back to no avail.

Gilbert is about to say something to him, when he lashes out, “the hell man! I was going to nail her tonight”.

    “Shut up man, just look six o’clock”

 Glenn looks and realizes that Sarah is around. “I thought she’s gone by now? Why is she still around?”

   “I don’t know”, Gilbert responds still not looking happy

   “Well thanks”, Glenn says tapping his hand

Dodging his hand, Gilbert responds, “I am not doing it for you man, I just don’t want you to chatter her heart like you did last month”.

 “Well we both know you love me too”, Glenn says trying to put a cute face

 “Maybe”, they both laugh.

 “Have you seen Daniel?" Gilbert asks,

 “Yeah but it’s been a while, he left to ease himself”, Glenn says looking around; suddenly he hides at one corner.

  “What’s wrong bro? Who are you hiding from?” Gilbert says as he tries looking around

  “I don’t want Sarah to see me” whispers Glenn

  “About Sarah, what’s wrong? I just saw her back then looking all alone while her friends dance with their guys”.

Glenn arranges his collar, “man today I have other plans and it doesn’t include her”, he says.

  “Must you always do this to her?” Gilbert says with a lot of sentiments on his face

  “Come on man, I was with her, I can’t be with her all the time, be wise bro. Besides half the class is crushing on her”

  “So what?”

  “So any guy can dance with her”.

  “I see… well I’m off to look for Daniel”, Gilbert arranges his watch walking away as Glenn follows too.
