4. Who is she?

What if I just happen to have met a ghost in here?

He seems frighten that he gives two steps back gradually but her smile still comes in his mind, Daniel is convinced enough that he knows her as this time; the smile is produced exactly the way he remembers. He just wishes he could make her out.

Well, who this mysterious lady could be puzzles Daniel. If she’s no spirit, she must’ve been in Daniel’s picture definitely before all these, so maybe thinking far behind, surely he could find her in his memories.

Well how does this begin?

Deep in the heart of Africa, in a country Cameroon, a small town Kumba is home to many youths of different classes and talents. Indeed it is a gifted place, due to the presence of much vegetation; it is called the green city and many cite it as a city of glory. Well being a city of Glory doesn’t make it immune to boredom. At times, it gets so bored especially when there’s no light. With a population of more than a hundred thousand, that was sure to be unbearable with everyone’s phone off. However,there’s fun when there’s power.

Some enjoy staying indoors with their family while some would chill out even in the night since it is a place that harbors a lot of bars and clubs. Another thing it has a lot are churches that can be seen everywhere; you might want to think no evil duels here but who knows. It has no special internal days that can be celebrated but Bob Marley day is gradually acknowledged.

 Halloween is only seen in the movies and never celebrated but as you know Christmas and New Year is a worldwide thing. Those are the best days here, as everyone would do their best to cook lots of meat and delicious meals. Favorites like Fufu and eru, stew and many other traditional dishes are made as it is a place of course with a lot of traditions due to the presence of many ethnic groups and tribes.

Aside from the nice holiday events together with Easter, school days too have amazing celebrations like the 11^th February’s youth day and 20^th May National day; of course it is a national thing, so everyone participates.

It’s 20^th May 2016 and the national day is moving well. Schools already matched and the armies alike. Now Daniel is delivering a speech he prepared for his friend Glenn who will be presenting it in front of all schools present together with the delegates and tutors. Daniel of course is bright but always scared to face the crowd for fear of messing up as of course St John’s College was a prestigious one among many.

 Glenn after the speech is well applauded. It is normal for Daniel to feel a bit jealous for it is his work and words but it doesn’t bother him much, he is happy for his friend and his school. He watches all the praises given to Glenn and realizes how all that could be his but this isn’t the first time, besides praises, isn’t his thing.

As he watches Glenn been gifted by the delegate from afar, he gets a voice from behind,

  “Is it jealousy or the fact that you know you deserve that?”

He looks behind and realizes it’s his friend Gilbert,

  ”Hey Gil uhm… Where have you been?”

  “Where do you think? Been somewhere watching our friend get the glory and also keeping in mind that you should be the one up there”.

Daniel looks away without saying anything.

   “Look at him”, Gilbert says "see how wonderful he looks up there”

They both look as Glenn was hanging around with the delegate’s daughter.

 “That could be you”, Gilbert says

  With a nodding head, Daniel responds “Look bro I don’t want any of that”

  “Yeah for sure all you want is Sarah but you’re forgetting, up there, you could impress and get her. Now, Glenn will get her like he does any other girl”

  “I don’t want Sarah” says Daniel as he walks away singing “Craig David, walking away”.

  “Well, hide and sing all you want, you will sing more when Glenn bangs her”, Gilbert says as he laughs but hearing this, Daniel sings even louder. It’s not the first time Gilbert is trying to get under his skin for his lack of courage. So, he is familiar with it as sometimes he says worst.

 It is more than five PM already and students are leaving to go home. Daniel is with Gilbert searching for Glenn, so they should all walk as they always head the same direction. They both know with how high his points must’ve risen, he would be hanging with a lot of girls around, probably forgetting time was running out. So they decide to split up and search as the crowd is really big.

After many attempts, Daniel finally sees Glenn; he is with some girls from their class. The ladies are Trice, Shinel and Sarah. They look so happy with Glenn and keep complementing his skills of vocabulary on the speech he presented.

  “Hey come on... join us” Glenn says as he sees Daniel, he had a soft voice for a man and ladies like that aspect of him

  “Hey! I and Gilbert have been looking for you”, Daniel says in a low tone as he joins them.  

  “We decided to keep the genius to ourselves” answers Trice and the girls all laughed. Glenn just giggling, knowing in his mind he didn’t write the speech.

Daniel looking at him, hoping he would give his glory so Sarah would be impressed but Glenn wouldn’t as he is enjoying the fame he is getting. While they discuss how summer is going to look like, Gilbert finds and joins them.

The ladies all exclaim, “Here appears the dark beauty”. Gilbert was dark and tall, he always had a low hair with a lot of waves on them. Many compared him to Trey Songz.

 “Did you see how marvelous Fine Glenn was on stage?” Shinel asks.

 “Yes it was cool answers Gilbert as he realizes they don’t know the truth. But uhm I think Daniel can do better”, he adds.

Glenn responds, “Yeah sure he can”, in a sarcastic way and they all laugh with Daniel forcing it.

So they all move together, Daniel staring at Sarah as he pays more attention to Glenn. They move for a while till they reach the bridge after the council. While crossing, a bike passes by with a passenger on it. The passenger is a girl about same age as them, fair in complexion and really pretty. She is dressed as a Saint Francis student and she says something as she passes;

 <“Hey cute, your speech was sweet as you”>

She then smiles as the bike rides past them.

"Hey…!" she calls out to Daniel

He realizes he’s still at the museum. He has been thinking and digging up his memories for too long that he forgot where he was.

  “You’ve been lost. What have you been thinking about?”  She says holding something that appears to be an arrow.

Daniel takes a breath and then he says “I… I know who you are”.

“Do you?”, She asks smiling.
