Chapter 65: Half-truths

Logan’s pov

What Sasha did really was a sin, but I am more interested in the person pulling the strings.

I admit that they took advantage of Sasha’s greed, and she is not completely innocent.

Hell, she is far from it considering that she doesn’t regret what she did even though her father is the one paying for it.

“I do have a question for you Mr Knight, did you daughter by any chance tell you more about the witch?” Charlotte asked him.

He thought about it and shook his head.

“not really, she just said that the witch approached her” he answered.

“But then how? If someone else had entered this pack then you would have known.

If the witch approached Sasha it means she was keeping an eye on her.

But how?

And where did she find Sasha?” Charlotte asked.

She always seems to have the right questions; I didn’t even think about that.

This means that the witch probably has a mole here or tabs on everyone here.

I feel like we are dealing with someone who just wants to start a war.

“I wish I could help you after all you have done for me.

But I really don’t have the answers to your questions.

And Sasha has made it clear she never wants to hear from me” Mr Knight added.

“Thank you anyways, just go to this pack.

Its small but I think they will truly appreciate having you there” I said, and he nodded.

He looked at his son Dean, “I am sorry I failed you and your sister” he said.

Dean shook his head as he hugged his father.

“you didn’t fail us one bit. Sasha has always been selfish, its not that you failed” Dean said to his father.

Mr Knight wasn’t just a great father but was an amazing friend and we even grew up calling him uncle.

He has always been family and I for one feel like this huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

I know now that my father wont suffer from the guilt and my mate seemed happy with this ending.

We left the two father and son to talk for some time and decided to go on a walk.

“I am glad that he will be okay. I don’t know why but he reminds me a bit of my father” Charlotte said.

“Is it because just like your father he risked his own life for his daughter?” I asked her and she nodded.

“Maybe I am like Sasha in some ways as well.

I put him in danger, what If I deserve this curse?

What if I did something really terrible in the past?” she said and then paused.

“Then it would mean that he risked his life for a terrible daughter. Then he left his family to support the daughter who didn’t deserve it” she said.

“I don’t think you did anything terrible, there must have been a valid reason all this happened” I said, and she smiled.

“Yeah right, but the more I think about it the more it bugs me.

What if I really did do something terrible?

I am the demon spirit they hate and fear so much?” she asked but then sighed.

“You will figure it out, I am sure you will.

But looking at you I can tell you don’t have an evil born in your body” I said.

I took her hand in mine and kissed it.

“I think you have more kindness in your little finger than people have in their entire body” I said.

She gave me that beautiful smile, “and that smile that takes my breath away” I said.

She smiled at we kept on walking, “What is the one thing you hate the most?” I asked her.

“Half-truths, I hate it when people aren’t entirely honest” she said and the chuckled.

“I know it sounds like I am hypocrite considering the fact that I am always keeping secrets and telling half-truths” she said.

“But maybe that’s why I hate them so much, because that’s all I have done” she said and then looked up.

“I mean some keeps secrets for your sake” I said and then she shook her head.

“I spent about 4 years of my life with my father looking for answers.

He didn’t tell me everything, and because of that he was killed.

I don’t even know who killed him and why if he had told me everything.

Maybe he would still be alive, and we would have figured out things together” she replied.

“Two heads are always better than one.

Just like with Alexa and me, we always put our heads together and find answers” she said.

“And just like with what we did for my father, we put our heads together” I added, and she nodded.

“Hey, guys, let’s get going” Dean said and Chalotte nodded.

I want to tell her the truth.

I want to tell her that I have also been telling her half-truths.

She opened up to me about her father, she hardly ever mentioned him or her family.

And now she opened up to me, told me what happened to him, and it seemed to be weighing on her mind.

After her opening up to me like that I cant just keep telling her half truths as well.

I am going to tell her, so then we can put our heads together and figure out this mystery.

We went back home on the drive no one spoke until we got home, and Dean looked at both of us.

“You two would make a great King and Queen, you have so much compassion. That’s what is needed in a leader” his said and then looked at me.

“I know you have no interest in being Alpha King, but you do know that your brother is a lot like my sister right?” he asked me, and I nodded.

“Even I know that much, and I have been here for a few days” Charlotte added.

“So even though you have no interest, then make sure that he doesn’t become Alpha King. Hell, I don’t even mind being Eliza’s beta if you really don’t want the throne” he said and then walked away.

“Eliza is your sister right? if she is not anything like your brother then I wouldn’t mind as well” Charlotte said, and I nodded.

I have always had one fear about Justice and that was he would treat Clara badly.

Dean is going to be beta no matter what because that is his right and Justice can’t do anything about it.

But with Clara even though it is her right he could take that away from her because she doesn’t have a wolf.

But for now, one problem at a time.

I need to find a way to tell Charlotte the truth about the curse and what I found out.

“There is something I want to tell you; I am sorry I have been keeping this a secret from you” I said, and Charlotte looked at me.

“What is it? you seem serious” she said coming and sitting next to me on the couch.

I told her everything I found out, about what I saw from Ryder’s memories and her being the curse’s trigger.

“Why didn’t you tell me this sooner?

I need to get as far away from you as possible.

I shouldn’t put you in danger” she said but I held her hand and stopped her from standing up.

“Ryder knew, and even then he still chose to stay by Reene’s side.

You are not Reene, and I am not Ryder, but I still choose to stay by your side” I said, and she sat back down.

“But why would I be your trigger? How is it that Ryder had dreams and visions of me even though we had never met?” she asked me.

“That’s exactly what I am trying to figure out.

I think I am a reincarnate of the past, the first time that you were first cursed.

I think my past self knew Scarlet” I said, and she nodded.

“That’s what this whole thing points to, but why doesn’t Sebastian know about you?” she asked me, and I just shrugged.

Maybe there were a few things that Scarlet didn’t tell Sebastian.

“All I know is that somehow my curse and yours seem to have something in common” I said, and she nodded.

“They are both soul curses, our souls are cursed to never find peace no matter how many times we are reborn” she said and then sighed.

“But from what I can gather on yours, it’s like someone is hellbent on making sure you and I are never together.

That would explain why I am the trigger;” she said.

“And the seer you mentioned, from what I know every seer including werewolves seers keep a record” she said.

“Wait, you knew about the werewolf seers?” I asked her and she nodded.

“Yes I know about them, I have read up on most of the supernatural things and myths. I am a walking encyclopaedia” she said, and I smiled.

“There is a silver lining in this curse I guess” I said, and she nodded.

“What do we do now?” I asked her.

“we figure it out one step at a time, break it down slowly” she said.
