Chapter 96: Forgiveness

Charlotte’s pov

I sat at the rock and watched as the sun was setting.

My mother came and sat next to me, “you hated sunsets,” she said, and I looked at her.

“You loved me,” I replied, and she scoffed.

“Kill me,” I said after some time, and she looked at me confused.

“You can even perform a spell that locks my soul to this body.

That way I will never be reincarnated,” I said, and she frowned.

“Why?” she asked me, and I just shrugged.

“Because I promised you a long time ago. Remember? I broke my promise then, let me make it up to you now,” I said.

“What is this? What trick is this Scarlet?” she asked, and I shook my head.

“It’s not a trick mother,” I said and then held her hand.

I kissed the back of the hand and then looked at her with a smile.

“No more tricks, no more broken promises mother,” I said, and she didn’t say anything.

We stayed like that for some time before she got up and then looked at me.

“Fine, I will kill you,” she said, and I nodded as I got up.

“You abandoned me all for that Vampire.

You and I had great plans together, but you betrayed me,” she said shaking her head.

“You were all I had, my own daughter betrayed me,” she said.

“And I am truly sorry mother, I am so sorry for making you feel like I didn’t love you,” I said.

“I loved you, even now I still love you,” I said, and she frowned.

“I cursed you, you expect me to believe that?” she asked me, and I smiled at this.

“And you cursed yourself as well,” I said as I pointed at her.

“Why? Why go this far?” I asked her and she sighed.

“Because I had to, what you were doing was against all the rules the coven has set.

First you fell in love with a vampire and then you wanted to become one,” she said and then looked at me.

“We are witches, our main role in this world is to bring about balance.

What you were planning would disrupt that balance,” she added.

“But such a severe curse, cursing my soul,” I said, and she frowned.

“It was the least terrible choice,” she replied, and I looked at her confused.

“There was two choices, we let you live and curse your entire bloodline.

That curse didn’t have a solution, I proposed another one.

One that would torture Damien, Sebastian, and you,” she answered.

“But you cursed yourself in the process, why?” I asked her and she sighed.

“So, I could be punished with you. I failed as your mother which is why you turned into the person you were,” she answered.

“No mother, you didn’t fail as a mother, and I am shocked you saw it that way.

You raised a daughter who could do the impossible.

In a few months I was able to come with a spell that no one has thought of In a millennia.

Actually, in this entire lifetime,” I got closer to her and held her hand.

“You raised a strong and beautiful daughter. I have been someone’s daughter more times than I can count. But you are the only mother who has truly touched my heart,” I said and smiled.

She looked at me with tears in her eyes.

“I still cursed you,” she said, and I nodded.

“I know, now, let us die together so we can end this curse,” I said, and she looked at me.

“Okay then, let’s end this curse,” she said.

I know I am going to die but I also know I will be reincarnated.

I tied myself to Sebastian, hopefully next time it wont be that hard to find him.

I know that even If he has to wait for another millennia he will do so happily.

My mother poured some salt on the ground and then did a symbol with candles.

I know this spell, it’s a spell that witches used years ago.

When witches were being hunted and killed a witch developed a spell.

They could kill themselves instead of being killed by their enemies.

It’s a suicidal spell, I happily stepped inside it and held hands with my mother who started chanting the spell.

The salt around us caught fire and strong winds started blowing.

“Do it, go ahead and do the spell like you wanted.

Go ahead and live a full life if forever is what you want the do it.

As for me this is where my journey ends.

I have been alive for so long I don’t think I can do it any longer.

But when you do die, please come back home,” she said then caught in fire.

She disappeared within seconds.

That’s when it hit me, this wave of unbearable pain.

But unlike the last time it was different this time around.

Back then it was as if someone was tattooing my back but now it feels as if it’s been removed.

That’s when it all started making sense, yes my mother was angry, and she hated me.

But she developed and picked a spell that had a solution, or should I say a loophole.

The curse probably prevented her from revealing this to me plus she was still very angry with me.

The solution was forgiveness and acceptance if I am being correct.

I had to forgive my mother and she also had to do the same thing.

This was actually the first in all my lives I actually met my mother.

She told Logan about his past life, which was a hint In case I didn’t remember.

She helped him remember hoping that if I forgive him then it would led me to this conclusion.

That I realize that the blood mark curse is about resentment towards one’s own family and blood.

I don’t know what happened, but everything turned black, and I could feel myself losing all the strength in me.
