Chapter 4

Abbey POV

I lay down in the lockup room helplessly, my body too weak to help itself. After Nickie's visit on that day, I was locked in here, I haven't set my eyes on her nor have I heard any news from her regarding my releases.

I have sent a message across for someone to tell Nickie that I need to see her, yet I haven't gotten any feedback not to talk about her presence after the first day she visited. I know she might be trying her very best to see me out of here soon, but at least she shouldn't have forgotten to come visit every day knowing fully well I might need daily use, like drinking water and clothes. Well, I wouldn't judge her but will be grateful if my release will soon.

Knowing fully well that my hope isn't gone at all, it's my day 3 here and if I weren't released since then, tomorrow I will be released according to the law in the pack. One is not made to be locked up for not more than 4 days no matter how huge the offense is, she will be released to face a decree passed on her by the elders of the council.

I started feeling pain around my abdomen, the only time I feel this kind of pain is whenever I'm seeing my monthly visitor, but it's been more than 4 months since I last saw my menstruation. I messaged my belly gently trying to get away with the pain, but it was becoming so serious, that I wanted to shout for help, but what was the need knowing that I wouldn't get any help?

So I decided to bear the pain with tears falling down my cheeks. I rubbed my belly gently trying to absorb the pain with my tears, but it wasn't acting like what is going to stop soon.

Amidst the pain, I heard some footsteps approaching my lockup. I immediately became alert and soon they stopped, the creaking sound of the keys calmed my nerves, at least I will be taken out of here today. I said to myself while I was hiding the painful expression on my face, I wouldn't like them to see that I'm in pain here.

Immediately the door opened, one of the guards signaled me to come out, and one led the way while I stayed in the middle, I can say why they did that, so that I don't run away, once we got to the entrance of the meeting hall, the guards chained my hands and legs and carried me to the center of the room. I bend my face low avoiding the eyes of everyone in the room. The suggestions coming from the elders left me speechless.

Did I just hear those suggestions or am I just thinking out loud, not even one meaningful suggestion on how I can be released, my heart ached hearing them say those stuff and accuse me without proper investigation.

“How I wish the dead could speak” I muttered to myself, forcing in the tears that were building up in my eyes.

The last speech the Alpha prince made, in conclusion, got me teary at that moment, I know he won't be moved by my tears, so why should I end up showing him my weakness? I got myself together and cleaned my eyes before they noticed it.

The guards lost me from the chain and dragged me up like a piece of rag, why am I complaining moreover I have been demoted to a slave on a pack where I was once a Luna to the Alpha prince, what more can I say life happens but I didn't believe it will hit me very hard this way, I kept my face down enduring the pain of being a slave and my belly didn't stop aching. I don't want people to see the sadness on my face but I want to see my friend Nickie, she is also an orphan like me or maybe I might not see her again who knows what the Alpha prince has done to her.

On reaching the salves gate, I was thrown inside like a piece of stick, it happened so quickly that I couldn't get hold of myself so I ended up hitting my stomach on the ground.

The pain under my abdomen increased instantly and I could feel my belly tumbling, “What is happening, somebody should please help” I shouted when I noticed that my water bag had broken.

Weak and in pain I forced myself to push my babies out, they were so tiny that I doubted they could make it alive, the slave section didn't have enough equipment to care for preterm infants.

I watch my babies helpless and likely to be lifeless, “I’m sorry I couldn't help you” I muttered “Alive or dead just know that Mom loves you, your father didn't just want you both to live” I blamed the Alpha prince, cause why not, he is the whole cause of all this, knowing fully well I have his heir, he we go ahead to cause me those pains.

The door creaked open, I looked up, expecting to see the nurses but unfortunately, the selfish Alpha prince walked in with a wicked smile on his face. I immediately turned to look at my babies, both resembling him.

What on earth is this? And how did the news get to him early? I muttered to myself before turning to him.

Now what else do you want from me, you've put me through so much pain and here you are again. What else do you want from me? My life? I asked my voice and eyes filled with so much hatred for a prince I once loved even though I know we don't share the same feelings.

“Coming after your life is worthless, I want you to feel the pains you've caused me for a week now” he smiled and moved forward a bit “What about I make it stronger because this is just the beginning”

At this point, I was speechless but watched him closely as he continued coming closer to me. Fear gripped me. I know he can feel it by now.

“I’m not going to harm you for now, you need some rest you wicked soul” he spat and I shivered “I just want to take one of my babies he immediately reached for one of the twins before I could get my arms over them.

The long-time tears I have been saving behind drop down my cheeks, my lips opened a bit but I find it difficult to say a word. Knowing this is the last time I'm going to see my baby.

“Have a good time in the slave section” he mockingly said and walked away.
