Alpha Michael's POV: "What's wrong, Michael?" Catherine asked as soon as she noticed the shock written on my face. I slid out of my seat, turning to her with a look of resolve before sighing. "Something has happened at the borders and I have been called to check on it." Worry creeped into her expression and she sat up immediately, walking towards me as I snatched my keys from the counter, thankful that I had come along with it. Originally, all I wanted to do was take a ride around the pack with Catherine and probably make love to her at the beach once again. But that wasn't going to be possible anymore as there were other things to be worried about. "Is this so-called thing bad?" "Posing a threat, yes." I replied before walking over to her. I placed my hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry about it. When I return, I'll give you the full details. I don't want you to get worried, okay?" "But how will that be possible when I am already worried?" "Sometimes,
Catherine's POV: Since Michael left, I had not quite gotten myself. I couldn't go up to his room even when he had asked me to wait there for him. I kept checking on the kids to see if they were sleeping safely, then I walked outside, over to the few guards who were left to man the Palace and when I asked them what was wrong, they refrained from telling me at all. I decided to take a seat on the cane chair directly at the porch of the Palace, swinging my foot from side to side as I waited for the gates to be pulled open, for Michael's car to drive in. I knew something was wrong. I could feel it in my bones that it wasn't just an attack. It was worse than that. How had today turned sour all of a sudden? I'd wanted to spend the night with Michael, talking about the whole party and how the divorce papers were found but it seemed like the universe had something else in stock for us. I leaned back into the seat and slowly, tiredness creeped in. Even though I'd slept
Catherine's POV: I was jolted out of my sleep when the sound of commotion floated into my ears. I pushed the covers aside and climbed out of my bed, wondering what was happening to make the Palace so noisy. Surely, we weren't under attack? I slipped into a robe and hurried out of the room, making my way to the kids' room to see that they were awake and having breakfast. Gina was seated by the window, staring outside in curiosity and once I saw that they were safe, I creeped back out of their room before making my way outside the Palace. The courtyard was crowded by people and Michael stood by the porch, speaking at the top of his voice as the crowd raged on and on. "It is my duty to keep you all safe! And we are working towards that!" "But two people have died in a space of last night and this morning, your majesty! How are we supposed to believe that?!" Micy paused for a moment before he continued to speak. "We have sealed the area and are in search of
Catherine's POV: My drive to him, though silent, was filled with so many voices in my head. I couldn't shake off the fact that John was the one carrying out the killings. How had things gone from peaceful to chaotic all of a sudden. I remember the first time I met John. He was such a nice man, attending to me and asking me questions. I remember breaking down in tears before him after lamenting my situation to him and he had listened to me without even judging me. I remembered how he had surprised me by offering to accommodate me in his condo. In order not to make me uncomfortable, he made sure I had the access to my own privacy. That way, we rarely bumped into each other until we started to become polite to each other. He had been there during my time of labor, acting as a good companion and promising me safety and when I delivered, he was the one who had suggested the names to give our kids. Hell, he had literally bought everything they were going to be using f
Alpha Michael's POV: "The Pack has been divided, your majesty," Trenton said as soon as he walked into my study. "False rumors are being spread around, calling you evil and scheming." "Do you know who has been spreading this news?" "That's the problem now," He sighs. "We don't know who but the townspeople have been talking about it a lot. I have tried to debunk the news but there seems to be a new order." Once again, my day is ruined. Pushing to my feet, I began to pace around, hating that I had to literally start my day by hearing more bad news. I was yet to familiarize myself with the whole reason for this but somehow, I couldn't even pinpoint where the exact issue was coming from. It is already a new day but I had spent most of my time here, brooding and wondering how the hell John had a thing to do with this. I knew I hated him from the moment I set my eyes on him but I didn't realize that there was another reason, transcending the fact that he wanted Cathe
Catherine’s POV:We rode to the playground as he wanted, I'm very sure he wanted to forget all that was happening—but I kept having a bad feeling about leaving the palace. My kids were so overjoyed as we alighted from the car, seeing them smile that way has been my priority…but how will I dare interrupt their good feelings?“Anything wrong? You look moody…” Michael drew me outta my thoughts. I sniffed and faked a smile. “I'm okay, just carried away with their smiles.'' I lied and he caressed my cheeks. I didn't know how to tell him how I felt at that moment, but I thought we were safe since he was around us.Everything happening recently looks mysterious, especially with the fact that John is behind them. I have never for once thought of him as a villain, and he made himself one. “That must be the reason he was still pestering around me—looks like he was trying to use me as a revenge tool for Michael.'' I shook my head. “I won't let that happen even though I'm grateful for all his goo
Alpha Michael’s POVMy mother was in a very critical condition when I reached the hospital. The doctors were gathered around her, everyone trying what they could to save her. Since I never wanted her dead nor does she want to die that way, I pay for her treatment and other things yearly, then pay visits at times and remind her that she needs to wake up.Deep down, I've been planning to visit her with Catherine when everything sets at its rightful place, so I must not lose her.I banged the door open and walked in even though I had ordered all the nurses out. I shifted one of them aside and bent low beside her…happily, she still had a pulse.“But she's still in a coma, Alpha…” the head doctor said to me. I glared at him and he rushed forward. “She still has a pause right?” I asked him and he nodded.“But, it's still going down so we are trying to bring it back to normal,” he explained, making my wolf growl. I jerked him by the collar. “I've spent millions in this hospital just to save
Alpha Michael’s POVThe tears struggling in my eyes rolled down the moment I caught John sitting before me. What the hell was he up to? I don't even doubt that he's behind all these, but I should ask how he came to know that my mother was hospitalized—and the key to the ward she was laid to.I stood up, looking into his eyes. “What have you done, John? Are you okay upstairs? Is that how you show your love?” I growled and he smirked.“That question should be for you…” he licked his lips. “What were you thinking when you left her to be alone with the kids, knowing that there's a lot of danger out there? Is that how you love? Putting your dying mother first before her huh?” he grinned. That expression pissed me off and I landed a heavy punch on his face. He scoffed and came forward. “This won't do, just kill me for everything to end ...but it's never going to be possible because I must bring you down and take her and the kids with me.” he roared.I got it. “Did you plan to kill them sin
