Catherine’s POV
My hands were chained backwards while I was seated on the floor of the cell. It was cold there and everywhere was dark so I couldn't see a dime in the room. That is what it means to be an omega in the pack, there are certain abilities that we lack which makes us the lower ranked. The door of the cell was opened. I knew that because I heard the sound, and then a light flashed at my face. I noticed that it wasn't just one person who came—they were about three, and all hefty men, which I perceive to be servants in the palace.“It's time for your execution!” one of them said and signaled the others to get hold of me.I shook my head. “It's not done that way. You have to tell me that my kids and Alpha are safe.”“You still have the guts to mention his Majesty when he already abandoned you. Don't you realize that you are an omega and you don't have what it takes to be the Luna of this Pack? So stop dreaming….” the other referred bluntly at me.I licked my lips and watched them untie me. I know that Alpha Michael will still come to my aid no matter what, even though I'm still sorry for the pains he passed through in the hands of the assassins that almost took away his life. They dragged me out of the cell and I saw the brightness of the day. I can't tell how many hours I've been in that cell that made me feel like I've been in prison for years.“Tie her up!” a masculine voice ordered. “She will be sentenced to death by the minister of justice…” the voice added. My heart began pounding. Can I just know what I did wrong? Even if I'm not opportuned to know, at least I should see my kids for the last time.“His Majesty is here!” a different voice said and I swiveled my neck to the side to see Alpha Michael walking straight to the place I was tied up. The look on his face was so mean, making me believe that something was going on—but at least, he was safe.“Untie her immediately!” Alpha ordered and the guards rushed to me.“She attempted treason on his Majesty and the penalty is death if you won't let her be enslaved. If you wish to let her go scot-free, then you'll be dethroned….” the first man who gave an order explained.I attempted treason on his majesty. How did I do that? Or, because he was almost killed at the point of saving me and the kids? He can't lose his throne because of me, I would rather become a slave if there's no way of running away from my offense.“But this is an accusation. I didn't do that, instead, I was abducted…” I voiced out, but one of the guards landed a heavy hit on my face which infuriated Alpha. He walked closer to the guard and hooked his cloth, hanging him in the air. I was still tied up so I couldn't move an inch.“Do you realize that you just hit the future Luna of this pack?” he screeched at the guard, got him down and gave a thunderous slap that sent him to the floor, then he turned to the ministers that already gathered, waiting to see me executed. “Isn't it better that I lose the throne instead of watching her be executed?” he gestured.“Alpha, you can't lose your throne.” I cried out at last. He can't lose the throne because of me when we are still divorced, I'm a lowly omega who doesn't deserve to be his Luna. “I'll be a slave instead of you losing the throne.”“You can't!” he retorted and moved to the desk of the minister in charge of my penalty, took the book on his table and tore it into pieces. “I was attacked by rogues, and this is how you show your care towards your king.'' He glared at him and walked back to me, then untied me completely. “I repeat, she is the one entitled to be my Luna, and I need no one to question my declaration….”The look on the faces of the ministers was like a failed plan. I know that I was divorced by him, but I never regretted it since it was an arranged marriage.“But there's proof that she planned the treason, your Majesty…” one of the ministers chipped in again. They are all after seeing me out of his life again. That's not my problem, I just need to be sure that my kids are safe.“This is the proof!” the minister handed an envelope to him. He disclosed it and went through it, then tore it into pieces. They all watched him spill it on the floor.“Are you trying to use this against her?” he asked no one in particular.“I know nothing about whatever that's written there.” I cut in. Why would they keep accusing me of plotting treason on Alpha when I know nothing? “I'm innocent of all these accusations..”“That's a big lie, Catherine. I abducted you because you plotted treason on my brother with Doctor John, don't deny it, because those rogues were sent by the doctor." I heard a different but familiar masculine voice behind me. We all turned to the left side to see Alpha's brother standing with his two hands in his pocket. “I didn't want to let my brother know, but since he's blinded by the fact that you already had kids which isn't his—I took that step.”“What are you talking about?'' I yelled at him but couldn't make a move. “Those kids belong to Alpha and DNA already proved it right. And I never plotted treason on my Alpha, not when I was scared of going back to him or being caught by him, i was already pregnant before Doctor John took me in.'' I defended myself.Alpha Michael was confused, he didn't know who to believe or what to do.Peter walked closer and handed a clip to his brother. “This is the evidence of everything. I've been tracking you from the day you left this palace, hoping to convince my brother and get you back—but I changed my mind when I found out what you had up your sleeves.” he continued, too confident in himself.I got to my knees, holding Alpha's trousers. How do I explain to him that I'm innocent of all these accusations? Will he ever believe me if I reveal to him that his brother is after having me and taking the throne away from him? The ministers will be against me this time again and give the crime a name.Alpha was just busy going through the clip without sparing a glance at me until he was done, then he handed the clip over to his brother.“That must be the reason John didn't let me set my eyes on my kids any longer…” was all he could say, then walked out of my sight.“Alpha Michael!” I mentioned, expecting him to glance at me. With the statement he just made, my kids are with Doctor John and at least I'm glad to hear that. But I need to live to take care of them, they are too tender to lose their mother. How do I prove my innocence to these people?“Take her back to the cell. She will be enslaved by sunset tomorrow for the sake of her tender kids.” the minister in charge of my penalty announced.Alpha Michael’s POVMy head was filled up. Even though I'm the Alpha king of the pack, I am expected to punish whoever commits a crime—but this time, I find no crime about Catherine being in the cell. Those ministers got evidence that she plotted treason and expected me to believe them so easily, and my brother who went intimate with my ex–lover was with them as well. Why don't I believe that this is a plan between them? Since I refused to make Jennifer my Luna even though her father was one of the ministers, they must be against me making Catherine my Luna as well, and since she already had kids for me.“Those kids are my carbon copy, there's nothing that will make me believe that it belongs to John…'' I muttered, pacing around my room in deep thought. What will I do to secure the life of Catherine and the kids? If I forcefully save her, I'll be dethroned and they will put on the throne a puppet king that they will control, and I don't want such a thing to happen. How do I go about t
Catherine's POV At sunset just like the ministers agreed yesterday, I was brought out of the cell. Standing before the ministers, I was quivering in fear, hoping that they wouldn't change their mind all of a sudden. I want to live, for my kids, and take care of them. I wished to set my eyes on Alpha after a long time of divorce even though I hated him for how he treated me in the past—but I wasn't expecting to pass through all these just because I set my eyes on him.If this is what it means to be his Luna, then it will be better if I stay with Doctor John or rather relocate to another Pack where no one knows me.But still, all thanks to him for showing up on that day to save me, or I wouldn't know what would've been the fate of me and the kids—but it's a pity that the man who was trying to convince me to he his and he will make me his Luna once he overthrown his brother is accusing me of plotting treason which he did.“From today, you'll be a slave and serve the Alpha king in this p
Alpha Michael’s POV: "Out of my way!" A growl rumbled through my chest as I pushed past maids and guards walking past. I was filled with a sense of panic that spread throughout my body like a malignant tumor. I kicked the door to my chambers open, yelling at the guards to get the Pack's physician. I carefully placed her on the bed, the side of the bed dipping as I took a seat beside her. I checked her pulse. It was weak but she had one. Her blond hair lacked luster and was a mess behind her compared to the beautiful golden halo it used to be when I made love to her one time in the past. Pushing to my feet, I walked to the window and pulled the drapes open before coming back to sit on the bed. Hell, I wasn't going to leave her side no matter what. So much had happened and maybe I needed someone beside me too. The physician arrived in less than twenty minutes and I pushed to my feet, walking towards him. "She collapsed. Nothing bad must happen to her, please.
Catherine POV: My legs kept swinging from one side to the other. I was filled with impatience, paranoia and anger. I could control neither of these emotions. I wished Michael could drive faster. There was no time on our side. "Can you drive faster?!" I cried. "I am Catherine. You don't want us breaking traffic rules." "You already did!" I snapped as tears blurred my vision. "Their lives are on the line. Please. I have seen enough and I don't want to see their death." "Do you realize that I don't know where they are?" That was true. My heart sank. I'd been too agitated that I didn't even think of their possible whereabouts. "So... what exactly are we going to do?" "I don't know. I have sent out private investigators and detectives. The cops are also doing their jobs." "So where are we driving too?" I asked. My heart sank deeper into my chest with every passing moment. "Peter's." "What?!" I exclaimed, eyes wide in fear. "No way. We are not goin
Catherine POV: The drive back home was filled with silence. I felt so restless but there was nothing I could do about it. Michael looked really calm for someone who was panicking and I was starting to have useless doubts which I didn't even want to talk about. We finally got back to the palace and when the guards stepped forward to grab me by the arm, one look from Michael had them stepping backward. He assigned one of the maids to me. I remembered her. Though she hadn't been my personal maid at the time I arrived here, she'd been kind to me. Her name was Lisa. She led me to my room and upon walking in, I was engulfed with nostalgic feelings. Not good ones. Bad ones. The memories I had here were painful memories. Memories that only spoke of loneliness and pain and so much longing that was never satisfied. "I'll be right back with a few dresses for you." I nodded and watched Lisa leave before walking deep into the room. It hadn't changed. The drapes we
Alpha Michael's POV; The next morning, I woke up at the shrill ring of my phone, immediately sitting up and picking it to see it was a call from one of the men I'd hired to investigate the children's kidnapping. I picked up immediately, bringing the phone to my ear and sitting up on my bed. "I got an update." "And what is it this time? I hope it's about my kids?" "We found intel where they might be," He replied. "Last night, one of my men caught sight of a suspicious activity going on so we tracked the location to a warehouse." "Has it been checked out?" "It is in progress. We are waiting for confirmation. You just need to stay put for a while." "Where the fuck is the warehouse?" I growled, anger rippling through me. "Send the location to me right now. Do not waste my time." "Alright. I am sending it to you right now." Just as soon as the call ended, my phone beeped with a message. I tapped it open, checked the text to see that it was located in o
Alpha Michael's POV; I rushed into the warehouse, breaking through doors and pushing past pipes that leaned against the wall before I got to a door. I looked around, searching for any wrench to pull the metal latch from the door but I found nothing. In frustration, I began to walk around, searching for anything available to use. I caught a metal bat resting on the wall at the side and quickly picked it up, hoping it was going to help. It did. I was able to unlatch the door. The room was pitch black but I could hear the cries of the little children in the room. I took out my phone and turned on the torchlight to see them both huddled in the corner. "Oh, thank God!" I cried and rushed over to them. They had ropes tied around their hands and legs and their mouths were clamped shut with tapes. I fell to my knees right before them, untying it until they were free before I pulled them both into my arms. "You're safe. You both are safe. Don't worry about anything
Catherine POV: I could barely sleep. It was already evening and Michael was yet to return. I'd spent most of my day running around and asking for his whereabouts. I was so disoriented. So disorganized even. I didn't know if he'd gone to get the kids or if he had gone somewhere else. His men kept pacing around in frenzied movements and I could tell from the looks of things that something had gone wrong. "Hello," I stopped one of the men who had a phone to his ear. He pulled it off and gave me a look of displeasure. Yes, I had distracted him from his call but I didn't care at this point. All I wanted was to know how my kids were doing. "Where is he? He's not been home all morning." The man sighed and looked at his phone before asking the other person on the other end to cut the call. "I don't know where he is." "So what's going on? Why is everyone looking panicked?" "I don't think it's something I can tell you, ma'am. You can wait until he returns. Maybe as
