The moment I submitted the evidence, Max was immediately summoned by the police. Along with him, Rena was also brought in for questioning.

The police swiftly launched an investigation, but due to insufficient evidence, only Max was detained. Rena, to my frustration, was released shortly after.

Through his constant contact with Rena, Evan quickly learned of Max's detention. Somehow, she managed to twist the truth, convincing Evan that it was all my fault. She made him believe that if I had sold the house to pay off the debts, none of this would have happened, and the police wouldn't have come after Max.

When Evan stormed into the house that day, his face was flushed with anger as he confronted me.

"This is all your fault! Do you see what you've done to Dad?!" he yelled, his voice thick with rage. "It's just a house! Why won't you sell it? You only ever think about yourself!"
