Chapter 2

‘I always treated you like a sister but when you threatened Michelle that you would take your own life if she did not allow you to get married to me, that was when I lost all the respect, I had for you.’

‘You are so disgusting Lucy. You even plotted to have your sister sent abroad so she does not attend our wedding for the fear that she might ruin your happiness. How could you be so evil.’

‘You deserve to rote in hell, you witch. I will never forgive you for what you did to Michelle. Just because of money, right?’

The voices kept alternating in Lucy’s mind, making her to almost go crazy. She had no idea that a lot had been happening behind her back, and there she was, feeling like she had gained all the happiness in the world after marrying the person who was supposed to be the love of her life.

How could she be so foolish and trust Michelle so much that she could share anything with her. She thought that they were family for crying out loud.

“Aaaah…” Lucy screamed at the top of her lungs in agony. She sat on the ground in a defeated manner and cried her heart out.

She wanted to leave with her head held high but now, she wished that she could have died instead. The hate that she felt for her mother intensified and she wished that she could have just strangled her to death after she was born, instead of making her suffer too much.

“Stop the car.” A cold voice commanded inside a luxurious car.

The driver was startled and confused at the same time by the voice in the car. He looked at the man sitting in the back seat with a confused expression.

“Sir?”

The man’s assistant looked at the driver and commanded in an equally cold tone, “The boss asked you to stop the car. Do you have a problem with your hearing? Do you want me to take you to the hospital for a checkup?”

The driver was now sweating profusely. Although he had been working for this boss for some time now, the boss’s voice alone sent shivers down his spine every time he spoke. With his sweaty hands and shaking legs, he stopped the car.

Dressed in a designer suit, with custom made leather shoes that shone brightly in the sun, a man that was akin to a god descended the car, his expression still frosty.

The world seemed to have come to a standstill the moment he stepped foot on the ground and the time itself seemed to have stopped.

Although confused by their boss strange behavior, the driver and the man’s assistant also got out of the car and stood vigilantly on both side of their boss. It seemed like they were ready for anything.

Castro did not even spare them a glance as his long, and beautiful straight legs strode towards a certain direction.

The driver and the assistant shared a glance before they followed their boss.

Lucy was curled up on the ground as she cried her heart out. Her legs were sore due to kneeling for a long time, and her eyes were red and swollen, making anyone who looked at her to pity her.

Seeing her in that condition, although she was a total stranger, Castro felt a strange feeling in his heart. His heart stirred with strange emotions that he had never felt before and before he could process what was happening, he bent down and carried Lucy into his arms.

“Go to the hospital.” He ordered the driver the moment he sat in the car. Lucy was almost unconscious but when she heard the man’s voice, she lifted her head in alertness as she tried hard to open her heavy eyes.

“Who…” her voice was hoarse from all the crying and it was difficult for her to utter even a single word.

Castro covered her lips as he shook his head at her, “Shh… don’t say another word.”

“I…” Lucy tried to open her mouth to speak but she could not because her mouth was covered.

The moment his warm palm touched her soft lips, Castro felt as if an electric shock was causing through his body. He quickly removed his hand that felt as if it was on fire from Lucy’s lips.

His heart was beating wildly and his knees felt weak. Just the mere touch of her lips made his body to almost go numb.

Castro was astonished. He looked at the strange face that he had never seen before and felt as if he was under some kind of a spell.

The face in his arms was flawless with well curved eyebrows and naturally thick lashes. Looking at her closely, the woman had not applied any makeup, but she was still stunningly beautiful, to the extent that Castro had to hold his breath as he looked at her.

The next morning

“Sir, the lady has secretly left the hospital without the doctor’s knowledge.”

Castro looked at his assistant and frowned in displeasure, “Didn’t I ask you to keep an eye on her?”

“Yes, sir. Our men stayed at the hospital for the whole night and they had only left to freshen up when this happened.”

“Have you found out anything about the girl?”

“No, boss.”

“When have you become so incompetent?”

The assistant lowered his head when he heard that. He could not understand what was going on in his boss’s mind, and he also had no right to ask questions.

He had been with his boss for the longest time and he had never seen him care about anyone apart from his family and close friends.

He especially had never seen him get close to a strange person, especially women.

“Boss, should we look for her?”

When he heard that, Castro waved his hand, “There is no need. We share no relationship so there is no need to trouble yourself.”

“Okay, boss.”

A few days later at Carlos bar…

Castro had just finished a business meeting and he was on his way out. There was a commotion on the ground floor, but Castro was not concerned since he was not someone to put his nose in other people’s business.

He was about to head outside the door when his eyes caught a familiar figure standing amidst the crowd.

Although he had only seen her once, her figure seemed to have taken root in his mind, and it would appear once in a while when he was distracted.

He stopped his foot that was about to step outside the door, changed direction and headed towards the crowd.

In between insults, a voice that could send shivers down one’s spine was heard, drowning out all the noise.

“What is going on here?”
