Shaw's POV
"Kat take the kids out to your car." When I spoke it sounded like a growl. My wolf was barely contained. She hopped up and rushed the kids out immediately. She knew what was coming even without really knowing. I could smell her anger and embarrassment mingling in the air. Whatever happened wasn't good and I intend on finding out exactly what transpired.
"What the fuck did you say to her?" I walked up to Noah bristling and damn near ready to go for his jugular.
"I was just kidding around Shaw-" I had my hand around his throat before he finished spewing the bullshit from his mouth.
"Jax. What happened?" I gritted out bearing my teeth in a show of dominance.
"He got drunk and made some comments about her and talked to her bad in front of the kids." He shook his head.
"Is this true?" I glanced at Sean and he nodded.
"She smacked him in the face too. His wolf got riled up, we had to hold him back and that's when you walked in." Sean added.
"What the fuck do you mean riled up?" my eyes had turned to ice. The fact that he would ever think of harming any woman was bad enough, but Katherine had been claimed by me. I was seconds away from shifting when the doorbell dinged signifying someone had entered. I smelled her immediately and her scent calmed me enough to get myself under control.
"Take him home before I kill him." I finally let go of Noah's neck and he dropped to the ground gasping for air. I took two more deep breaths before I turned around to face her. The chatter in the restaurant continued as if the little scene never happened.
"Don't worry Kat it's handled."
She nodded and she rushed back to her Cherokee not wanting to leave the kids alone for longer than she needed to. Jovanni gave me a questioning look as she took in the interaction between us.
"You sure you want to do that?" Jo She didn't hesitate speaking her mind in most situations. However in this scenario I didn't appreciate her tone.
"I'm sure Jo." I say as I walk out shaking my head.
I pulled up to the little house and knock on the front door.
"Hey" She says breathlessly as she opens the door.
"Is this a bad time?" I realize I shouldn't just show up uninvited.
"No, come in." her black hair was pulled into a messy bun on top of her head.
"Mama! Can I get in the bath now?" called a small voice.
"Hold on Ame. Make yourself comfortable I'm going to get her in the bath."
"I won't be long." She said from the top of the stairs.
Half an hour later she brought Amelia down all dressed in pajamas
"She wanted to say goodnight." She carried her daughter into the living room where I sat.
"Thank you for saving my mom from that mean guy."
"Your welcome. I'll make sure your mom stays out of trouble from now on."
"Really?" She looked hopeful at the thought.
"I promise." I said assuredly.
"Okay it's bedtime. Say goodnight to Shaw."
"Goodnight Shaw." she waved.
"Goodnight."
Shortly after Kat came down the stairs and sat down next to me.
"Would you like a drink? I have wine." She offered.
"Do I look like the type to drink wine?" I chuckled.
"No, but I want a glass." She went into the kitchen and I followed behind her.
"I'm sorry about that commotion at the diner. I know you saw me chocking him."
She looked at me as she poured herself a tall glass.
"Don't apologize. I appreciate you stepping in the way you did." She took a swig of the red wine.
"It seems like whenever I need saving you're there." she continued.
"Noah is a good kid, but he's an asshole on his best day. What he did was inexcusable and it will never happen again. I came here to tell you that."
"You speak with so much authority over him, I take it you're close?"
"He's my cousin."
"Oh.."
"I also came here to ask if you and Amelia had plans tomorrow afternoon?"
"No we don't , why do you ask?"
"I wanted to take you to my favorite beach. It's a bit of a hike, but its worth it."
"Okay, sure that sounds fine. We can have dinner here afterwards."
"Okay." There was a ripple in the air and I found myself wanting to lift her up on the counter right then and there. She felt it too and her carmel skin blushed red. I knew she could feel the attraction, but what I felt for her was so much more.
The day she moved to town I felt an itch to go to the diner even though I rarely spend time in town. My wolf knew his instincts took over and took me where I needed to go. When I saw her sitting there even just looking at the back of her head sent him into overdrive. I almost shifted he was so eager to mark her he almost missed Amelia sitting there with her. When she turned to leave and we finally locked eyes I was finally able to imprint. Since then I had been itching to claim her as my own, and to my pack I already had. I made it clear to them which is why Noah's behavior tonight is so surprising to me. Everyone in town was either directly descended from or married to a shifter which is why we live in isolation.
"I should go. I still have to deal with my cousin." She nodded and walked me to the door.
"Goodnight Shaw."
The next day at exactly noon Shaw was knocking at my door."We'll take my truck; we have to go off road for a bit and then hike the rest of the way. Are you up for it?""I'm capable. What about Ame? How long will we be hiking?""Don't worry about that, I'll carry her.""Do I need to bring anything?" I was still new to the whole wilderness thing, and I honestly wasn't sure."No worries I packed us some things."With that they were loaded up into his truck with Amelia sitting right between them in the front row. I felt a little nervous about Ame being without her car seat, but this wasn't some big city with expressways and traffic. She would be okay. The lumps and bumps of the unpaved road was actually really fun for Ame. Whenever we hit a big bump, she laughed and cheered earning laughs from Shaw and I as well. It was great seeing her experience something new and unfamiliar. When they reached their destination Shaw went to the back of the tru
Today was the end of summer celebration and surprisingly the weather was actually warm enough for Amelia and I to wear summer clothes. I had on a sky-blue dress that reached my knees and brown strappy sandals. I was originally going to go with Samantha and Jason, but Shaw insisted on going together. I wasn't complaining, we had been seeing each other almost every day since our beach date a couple weeks ago. He would stop by after Amelia went to bed or he'd come over and cook for us. It was like he suddenly integrated into our lives with seamless transition. If he went too long without coming by Amelia would even, ask about him. It was then I knew we needed to establish what exactly it is we are doing. I didn't want my daughter being disappointed."Are you finished with your lunch?" I asked Amelia. Shaw would be arriving any minute and I was eager to get to the celebration."Almost mama.""Okay good. We're going to have so much fun today!""Yeah, we are."
Shaw's POVAll this time I thought I was doing everything I could to show her how I felt and yet she had been waiting for me to make a move. I'm such a fucking idiot. I was too busy trying to keep my wolf under control that I didn't realize she wanted me until this afternoon when I kissed her in the kitchen. I parked the Jeep and got Amelia out of her seat.A while later Amelia was finally asleep in her room Katherine came downstairs. I watched her from my seat on the couch with hungry eyes, she had taken off her dress and now wore a silk robe. Her scent was so alluring I felt my canines extend. Fuck this would not be easy to pull off. Focus Shaw Focus. She made her way to me, and I pulled her into my lap cradling the back of her head as I kissed her deeply. She opened her mouth, and I pushed my tongue in twirling it around hers. She clenched my shirt in her hands before encircling her arms around my neck. I reached my hand between us and untied her ro
Kat's POVI came so hard tears were rolling down my cheeks as I laid flat on the bed. He was still between my legs drinking me like he was on the brink of death and my nectar held the key to immortality."Shaw" I whisper out feeling too dazed to form any other coherent thoughts. I had never been eaten like that before and I certainly hope it's the first of many. He looked up at me licking his lips clean. I pulled him towards me pulling his shirt off of his bulky frame. I fiddle with the button on his pants as he kisses me. The taste on his lips is heady and warm and very me."I need to be inside you." He grumbled out against my neck as he bit and sucked on my brown flesh. I nodded my head and spread my legs to accommodate him. He slid his bottoms off and I laid eyes on his length for the first time. I immediately felt nervous. It was big. Too big. There was no way after so many years of celibacy that would fit inside of me. He read my face like
Kat's POV"I want you to cum again Kat." He rumbled out in his deep baritone."I can't." I shook my head no. Those two intense orgasms were enough for me."You can. Just once more baby I know you can take it."He gripped my neck and pulled my face away from his chest. He kissed me with every stroke."Cum for me baby." He kissed the sore aching mark on my neck.It was like he pushed me off the edge of a cliff. I came suddenly and violently as if I couldn't deny his command. My moan sounded gutteral and feral like I was no longer human."Can I cum inside you?"I hesitated, but it was long enough becuase he pulled out and came on my stomach. His cum was thick and hot and damn I wish I said yes, but I'm not on birth control and I refuse to get pregnant."I'm sorry, I'm not on birth control or else I would have agreed.""Shh. Don't apologize, I understand." He kissed my forehead affe
It was now November and winter had come on strong. Shaw special ordered coats and boots for Amelia and me, apparently the stuff I had wouldn't work for us here. The coats and boots he ordered could withstand the most frigid temperatures and I was appreciative, even though I didn't plan on spending a ton of time outside. The residents of Lake Orion did not celebrate Thanksgiving as most of them are indigenous peoples either mixed or full blooded. However, there was some excitement about the ice fishing competition coming up. I was both curious to see how it was done and dreading being outside in the cold for hours just for fish.Shaw kept telling me "The shanty will keep you warm." I had a hard time believing that a piece of thick plastic would keep the cold at bay considering the temperature has regularly been in the low twenties all month. Amelia was across the street bundled up in her winter gear playing with Zachariah and Jeremiah in their yard. I was folding laundry and t
I still held Ame in my arms and she never stopped shivering. Sam's boys both seemed very calm almost as if this is a normal occurrence. I set Amelia down in front of me and looked her in the eyes."What happened?" A puddle formed around her feet as the snow on her bright pink boots melted where she stood."I saw a big wolf. It wanted to bite me, mom." She sniffled as she began to cry.I pulled her in for a hug. Wolves were common in Alaska I knew that much."Were you watching them?" I questioned Sam. I didn't want to point fingers."I stepped inside to grab them some snacks I was gone for less than two minutes when I heard her scream.""Did you see it?"She nodded and averted her gaze. She looked like she knew more than she was letting on."Why do you have that look on your face Samantha?" She was supposed to be my friend. I trusted her to look after my daughter and now she's keeping secrets. I was five seconds away from gettin
Shaw's POV'Lying by omission was still lying.' That phrase kept repeating in my head as I walked across the street back to Jasons house. I went into the back yard sniffing the air as I went. The stink of the rogue wolf lingered in the air, and it sickened me. We hadn't had a rogue enter our territory in over eight years. Eight years ago, when my father was killed, and I earned this scar on my face I also earned the title alpha of my pack. I was only twenty years old when it happened. A group of rogues had been hitting our borders for months testing our weaknesses until they found one and got through. My father was the first one to realize what was happening and he got there first, no back up or help when they jumped him. He took out as many as he could before he succumbed to his wounds. The ones that got away didn't last long, I hunted them down one by one until I had satisfied my need for revenge. Jason was my right-hand man in all decisions pertaining to t
