Chapter 8

Jason's gaze trembled. "It was you?"

"Yep. I saved him."

It had been a perfectly timed "accident". I saved Saul's life, so, naturally, he would trust me with all of his heart. I just had to continue hinting to him about Jason for him to start suspecting his own son. And of course, that would trigger Jason's defensive mode and try to kill Saul.

I sat there and watched, enjoying every minute of Jason losing his head while cursing at me and calling me every name under the sky. After I was done, I simply smirked and turned to leave.

I could still kind of hear him cussing me out when the wind blew in my direction. He seemed to be repeating the same words over and over—something about causing unrest, planned murder, exacting revenge…

Since Saul was dead and Jason was imprisoned, that meant their riches and properties now all belonged to me.

Oh, and that also included my son, of course. How could I forget him?

I should have a son, after all. That way, it would just make more sense
