Chapter 7

Usually, Calvin and I would often call each other at night while we went about with our lives. This kind of silent accompaniment gave me a sense of security, even if we didn't say anything to each other.

However, from that day onward, it had become my biggest nightmare.

Calvin's breathing was getting louder and heavier by the second. I started getting concerned and asked him if he was getting down with a cold.

Before I could get my answer, however, I heard him shouting in a hoarse voice.

"How did you get in here? What did you do to my drink?"

I immediately sensed something amiss. "Calvin? What's wrong?"

There was the sound of breaking glass, followed by Calvin's loud gasping.

"Go away! Leave me alone!"

Just as I was feeling extremely confused, I suddenly heard Brianna's voice from his side of the line. "Come on, look at me, Cal. Open your eyes and look at me. I refuse to believe that you feel nothing for me!"
