“Hannah!” Her friends called. She tried to calm down. “Hannah!”
She sniffled and wiped off her tears which continuously flowed. She stood weakly. Half of her soul was dead from the rejection and even now, her wolf wasn’t even there to help her. Or she was just hoping to have a wolf although she knew that deep inside, she won’t be like them. A werewolf shifter. But she knew that she'd be even more in pain if she had a wolf. At least it will be just the heart to bear all of the pain.
“You shouldn’t go there looking like a mess.” A tall man probably at her age or probably older, someone chubby but with a handsome voice said. He handed out a towel. “Don’t worry, I haven’t used it. Free to use it.”
She hesitated as she looked up at his puffy face. He’s cute. Someone who might like her but somehow, with her broken heart, she knew that she was just vulnerable.
“Thank you.” She mumbled in a hoarse voice.
He sighed and turned back and she wiped her tears and snot.
“I’ll wash this and give it back…”
“Don’t worry about it.” He smiled and tilted his head. “It seems that your classmates are already celebrating. One of my friends invited me in your circle, you don’t mind, right?”
She shook her head. She gasped when two gigantic werewolves jumped in front of them, who seemed to be fighting or just making fun while others were cheering. The man pulled her away, taking her from the mess.
“I am not that sociable.” She mumbled.
“Right,” He chuckled. “Let’s get back.”
“You go on.” She said as she stayed there and wiped her tears. She sniffled and exhaled. No one should see her in this situation. She’s not meant to be weak because she already is.
Upon going back, she’s glad that the lights are dim in their cottage. She turned her head to where her mate was. She doesn't even know his name but he was out there partying to the best with her girlfriend cheering up and the way they kissed was even more heartbreaking.
“This is how we do it. Gin and juice! It’ll taste great.” Her friend Karissa said as she sat down. She was holding the towel to herself as she hugged her mesh beach top and looked up at her classmates’s friends or probably their boyfriends.
“Is it okay to vape, Guys?” Joyce asked. But she hated it.
“As long as the smoke wouldn’t go near me.” She said with a hoarse voice.
“You have the most sensitive nose among all of the wolves.” Tuddie placed her arm over her as she chuckled.
She scrunched up her nose as people from another cottage where her mate had approached them.
“Hey guys, do you have more gin? We can swap with brandy?” The man asked who glanced at her and smiled more at her friends.
“Here’s the brandy,” His baritone voice made her feel good and in pain at the same time. She clutched the towel and stared at him. He only stared at her for a while.
“Here are the fishes!” a familiar voice said as he got into the light. He placed the grilled fish in front of her as she looked up at him.
“Let’s grill some marshmallows.” He told her as Tuddie nudged her. She nodded as she stood but then, her legs went wobbly as the guy who handed her the towel grabbed her arm. “Careful,”
“You are always careless, Hannah. But I love you.” Tuddie said as she chuckled.
Her smile faded as they went to the griller.
“Your lips are upside down.” He said. “I’ve been rejected today as well. Hannah, right?” he smiled and extended his hand. “I’m RJ,”
She shook her hand.
“Thank you, RJ.” She smiled but it was bitter.
“Let’s just get drunk. That man doesn’t deserve you.”
“I am sure, he doesn’t deserve someone like me…” She mumbled as her heart was squeezing tightly to the thought that she was not that perfect to be even loved.
The man was speechless but then, he watched her grill the marshmallows.
“There’s someone that would love you more and cherish you,” He whispered but tears started streaming down as she turned back and wiped it with the towel he gave. “Hey~~”
“We are both rejected tonight. Your fated mate might have said it aloud, but what I saw in his eyes was more painful than words. Disappointment and disgust” She mumbled. “I’ve seen those many times…” She sniffled. “In everyone’s eyes… RJ.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.” He mumbled.
“I’m disappointed?” She asked as she sniffled and wiped her snot. “I’ve been… so… I shouldn’t be surprised at all.”
“Let’s just drink it all tonight, okay?” He smiled comfortingly and behind those eyeglasses seemed to be very caring eyes. This chubby guy knows how to make people comfortable. At least, she had another friend.
“Like a slut.” The boys laughed as she heard it. It seems that they were talking about someone and she tried hard not to hear it. RJ had his eyes on the other cottage as they got noisy and crazy while drinking.
She was silent.
“I have known slut girls back them trying to snatch away my man.” She knew well that it was Valerie’s voice. Her heart clenched even more, probably because it was true. That’s she a slut.
“So, what do you plan now?” She asked and looked up at him. “Both of us were rejected. Maybe we can just be together.” She chuckled and thought of it as a joke… but half hope. She wants him to say even if it was a joke that they can be together. But he pressed his lips and stared down at the fire.
“I am sure that you’ll find someone that will love you. I’m sure of it.” He pressed his lips to smile.
Disappointed. She knew it. Even RJ wouldn’t like her. Those words should be comforting, but she knew that it was also a rejection. She nodded at herself.
“Yes, you too.” Now, she feels so ugly that even a guy like him would also reject her. She had burned the marshmallow as she hoped that someone would call her to move away from this guy to escape from everyone.
She turned her head to her close friend as she waved.
“Oh, let’s go and drink.” She called him as her lips wobbled but she bit her lips hard to avoid bursting. She’s just very vulnerable and her heart was so tight that she was getting out of breath.
One way to get away from them quickly is to get drunk and just get into the tent.
Hannah looked at the mirror as she frowned at her face. Pimples break out. She tried to cover it up. To at least look presentable. But then, she remembered well how stressed she’s been lately. Paying rent, trying to even send back money to her family. Eating too much sugar. She exhaled as she just put the ointment on after cleaning up her face. She can’t wear makeup or any foundation. She doesn't even know how to put makeup on. She prepared now and put a light lipstick on. Then, she headed out and sat down in front of her cubicle desk and put her headset on to prepare for the online meeting. “By tomorrow’s meeting, we will be greeting the General manager.” Her boss, Mr. Fabian Marshal said. She’s just a lowly clerk but there will be other things going on. Her boss was already giving her a hard time yet he’s very supportive and he’s a great leader. “Hannah, prepare for everything. Our New General Manager, Boss Reid will be very strict.” “On it, sir.” She said as she was making sure
Wondering how that man’s other half felt after he marked his mate, made him furious. She’s fragile. She’s kind… He clenched his fist as he also felt that pain in her chest but he remained like a stone. The disappointment and hurtful words she said were forever printed in his head. “Alpha, are you well?” His Aide asked as he placed the medicine in front of him. “Please drink this. Last night, did it fade a little bit?” “It did.” He smiled. “I need another bottle for this.” “Yes, sir.” He fixed himself up with a nice smart casual suit. Then, he headed out to his car. It was just a few blocks from his penthouse, but he needed to use a car since it was scorching hot outside. He stopped upon seeing the working-hard girl. Petite, a little curvy and she’s walking briskly with her earphones on while holding a lot of paper bags from takeout. He quickly got out of his car when it stopped traffic. Then, he took his briefcase. “Sir…” “I’ll get off here.” He said as he messed his hair a bi
RJ was friendly. But her heart was at stake. She can’t fall in love just because she’s hurt and lonely. She can’t fall for that handsome man at all. She has no confidence in herself or love. Because she knew, it would only give her pain. The disappointment in their eyes was already too much to bear and rejection was already killing her. What more if she falls in love and learns that she was just a second choice? She chatted with the team as she had already taken their orders and her friend who was also on their team was busy with calls. She went back to RJ’s office and told him what they ordered and he moved closer to her as somehow, his sexy scent caught her. She wanted to move away to get away from temptation and dirty thoughts of him. He had his arms crossed while nodding. “You can now check it out.” He said as she checked it out and handed it to him. “Wait, what’s your order?” He asked with furrowed brows. She thought for a while. “I forgot about that…” He frowned. “Oh, your
She had called out the team for lunch and some were still finishing things up. Some probably were shy enough to dine with their big boss. She went to the bathroom with her kit and went directly to the cubicle. She threw up unexpectedly as she felt dizzy. She sat on the clean floor and reached her chest. She exhaled as she stayed for a while and she finally flushed the toilet and cleaned the toilet seat. She went to the sink and washed her mouth and face. She wiped her face clean as she rummaged through it and put a moisturizer on. Once she’s settled, she heads to her chair and puts her purse in her bag. “Hannah,” Reid called. “Everyone is waiting.” “Oh, sorry.” She said as she went with Reid to the conference room. They seemed to be all having fun. “Hannah, I got you a seat,” Rose called as she approached her and they all settled down. Somehow, she could feel RJ’s gaze at her as they thanked their boss for the treat. “Let’s have a meeting this afternoon, Hannah can you set up fo
The meeting went well. Somehow, the new drug that the doctor gave had made her feel better. The pain is gone and she had presented all of the reports perfectly. “Okay, for the upcoming convention in Westeros, Fabian and Hannah… also Rose, will go with me. It's a one-week convention and I think the rest will handle the tasks. Team leaders take charge.” Reid said as he finalized everything.“And I need an assistant to visit the following events at another branch.” He said and checked out. “Hannah can handle it, Reid,” Fabian suggested. “Rose can cover up?” Fabian asked Rose who nodded. Hannah has never been on any business trip and she wasn’t Reid’s assistant. She’s Fabian’s analyst in his area but why her? “Great, you can handle the flights and hotel arrangements. You can speak with Karol about that as well.” Reid said and his phone rang. “Excuse me.” he picked it up and left the room. “Sir, it’s not that I am complaining but, it should be Sir Reid’s assistant to assist him, right?
Days working with Reid weren't that easy at all. There are a lot of things to do and she has to go in and out of his office until Reid finally tells someone to place a table in his office. This is after two weeks of being trained as his analyst. Her position went up that quickly her contract was new and the pay was great. She also had her company phone and she won’t be just going to use a desktop but with a laptop for travel.Somehow, the drug seemed to work and she’s more focused on her work and the following events. She also coordinated with other department analysts to prepare for a lot of marketing events. Some were already making proposals and she reviewed it. Mostly, she learned from her boss Fabian. “Hannah, we’ve been sitting all day.” “Do you want me to fetch refreshment? I would gladly walk and enjoy the humidity outside.” Reid laughed as he nodded. He stood as he got his wallet. “Don’t bother, go get your wallet. I got the company credit card.” She raised it. “Sure,”
“My cats…” She mumbled. “Don’t worry about your cats. Just give me your house Key and I’ll have someone clean it up.” She tried to get up from the hospital bed but he pushed her down. “Oh, my best friend.” She mumbled. “My best friend was there. But she expected me to have dinner with her.” He sighed and looked at their family doctor. Doctor Markus. “She just needs some rest. Also, I think she needs to use contact lenses from now on.” He checked her eyeglasses. “And the drug works, but for now, you need to get enough nutrition. More protein for your body.” “I don’t need much of it. I’m not a shifter.” “It doesn’t matter if you are a shifter or not. But would you consent to check on your blood so I could give you the right medicine?” She nodded and extended her arm. Reid was staying on the corner. He was pissed that she had thought of something else other than her health. Once the doctor was down, he approached her and lowered his head. “Now, now. I should cancel the trip tom
She brushed her hair and put some cream on her face. She also makes sure that she’s presentable enough to face his boss. She rolled her eyes as she sighed, reaching her chest where her heart was located. She just hoped that half of her soul was fine. She needs to be fine to earn money since she’s a slave of money. She went back to the kitchen and watched as her boss was calling someone. Then, the doorbell rang. “Someone’s at the door at this hour?” She asked. “We are both hungry.” He said as he went to the door to open it. He let a man in with paper bags and other things. “Hannah, this is Chef Gordon.” “You ordered a chef?” She asked with a frown. “Oh, a pleasure to meet you, Chef Gordon. I am so sorry that you have to come all the way here~~” “No worries. I love cooking and I make the best soups.” He winked as RJ squinted his eyes at Gordon. She smiled and approached RJ as she stood next to him, feeling so small as she looked up.“I don’t understand why you should bother.” She mu
