Hannah looked at the mirror as she frowned at her face. Pimples break out. She tried to cover it up. To at least look presentable. But then, she remembered well how stressed she’s been lately. Paying rent, trying to even send back money to her family. Eating too much sugar.

She exhaled as she just put the ointment on after cleaning up her face. She can’t wear makeup or any foundation. She doesn't even know how to put makeup on. She prepared now and put a light lipstick on. Then, she headed out and sat down in front of her cubicle desk and put her headset on to prepare for the online meeting.

“By tomorrow’s meeting, we will be greeting the General manager.” Her boss, Mr. Fabian Marshal said.

She’s just a lowly clerk but there will be other things going on. Her boss was already giving her a hard time yet he’s very supportive and he’s a great leader. “Hannah, prepare for everything. Our New General Manager, Boss Reid will be very strict.”

“On it, sir.” She said as she was making sure to review everything.

She had a fifteen-minute break time and she went to the gym and walked on the treadmill with her rubber shoes on. She tried to calm her head as she checked her checklist. It was already past six and she planned to finalize everything.

She headed out and opened the door and bumped into a big chest. She gasped when her phone dropped.

“Sorry,” She mumbled and picked up her phone. Someone smells nice. She looked up at him at the tall bulky guy in a fitted shirt and gym bag. “Sorry,” She mumbled as the guy looked down at her.

“I am the one who should apologize. Are you alright?” He asked.

“Yes,” She smiled sweetly as always. He opened the door wide for her as she thanked him and she headed quickly to her chair. She sighed as she got back to work, trying not to get attracted to any guy because she didn't want to fall in love with someone else’s mate.

In this society? Alphas, Betas…. Shifters… She's one of the wolves that can’t shift. She was unknown. This is why her mate rejected her.

Remembering it was still giving her that pang of pain. She just hoped that she wouldn't ever see him. She just hoped that someone would pick her… like their first choice… not a second or a third. Someone that they wanted.

She went to her future boss’s office and prepared all of the papers needed. She makes sure that everything is aligned and perfect. Then, she headed back to her table. Since the position of executive analyst was still vacant, she guessed that their big boss would hire someone.

She then checked the coffee and other stuff.

She then froze as she remembered the guy in the gym. Who was it? He looks familiar. But anyway, she packed up and fixed her desk. She was on her way out to the elevator when she happened to see that handsome guy again. She fixed her eyeglasses as the guy waved. She quickly pushed the open button to the elevator and he hopped in.

“Sorry,” he chuckled. “I might smell bad right now.”

“Oh, it’s fine. My sense of smell seemed to be blocked for a moment.” She said as a joke. But half of it was true. He chuckled as he tilted his head.

“Really?”

“Sinus.” She said as the man nodded. There was silence as she forgot to click the ground floor button.

“Sinus might be really bad.” He said as she nodded an agreement. She’s kind of an awkward person. “So, what’s your drug?” he asked.

“Vics,” She answered. “Or I’ll go with anything minty.”

“Great choice.” he nodded. The elevator door opened as both of them stepped out. He even opened the door for her after she tapped her ID. Then, he opened the door for her. “Great to see you again.” He said as she smiled and nodded. As she turned back, she tilted her head, puzzled. Again?

She shook the idea but surely, the guy looked so familiar. Where did she meet him?

The idea is to look presentable not for everyone but for herself. She plans to have a detour with the pharmacy that sells the best beauty products. She went there and doesn’t plan to use her credit card.

She went through it and found the best acne medicine break out. Finally, she went home, fed her cats, cleaned them up and she opened the windows and door of her room, big enough to have a space to sleep, a mini kitchen, and a bath with a toilet.

She cleaned up a few messes of her cats and vacuumed her bed. Just when she’s brushing her hair to sleep, a sudden pang of pain in her heart makes her gasp. She groaned as she reached her chest. Her mind was on the bond breaking… the excruciating pain making her breathless.

She fell on the floor as her male cats meowed and sniffed her. Tears were already dripping from her eyes as she cried in pain. Her mate… who silently rejected her five years ago was now marking another wolf.

She convulsed in pain as it was more painful than the disappointment of the way he looked at her, that night. It all came back to her as she sobbed her pain out. Disappointment, that he somehow wished that he wasn’t mated with her.

She curled up on her left side, in a fetal position, clutching her chest from the pain. His brow eyes were full of disappointment… and somehow mortified of seeing her.

She didn’t sleep the whole night, with the pain in her chest. She still gets up with a pain in her chest. She winced at the pain so much as she took a bath, fixed herself, and tried to smile at the pain. But she needs to work rather than feel it. Her tears will be useless if she’s penniless.
