Hannah looked at the mirror as she frowned at her face. Pimples break out. She tried to cover it up. To at least look presentable. But then, she remembered well how stressed she’s been lately. Paying rent, trying to even send back money to her family. Eating too much sugar.
She exhaled as she just put the ointment on after cleaning up her face. She can’t wear makeup or any foundation. She doesn't even know how to put makeup on. She prepared now and put a light lipstick on. Then, she headed out and sat down in front of her cubicle desk and put her headset on to prepare for the online meeting.
“By tomorrow’s meeting, we will be greeting the General manager.” Her boss, Mr. Fabian Marshal said.
She’s just a lowly clerk but there will be other things going on. Her boss was already giving her a hard time yet he’s very supportive and he’s a great leader. “Hannah, prepare for everything. Our New General Manager, Boss Reid will be very strict.”
“On it, sir.” She said as she was making sure to review everything.
She had a fifteen-minute break time and she went to the gym and walked on the treadmill with her rubber shoes on. She tried to calm her head as she checked her checklist. It was already past six and she planned to finalize everything.
She headed out and opened the door and bumped into a big chest. She gasped when her phone dropped.
“Sorry,” She mumbled and picked up her phone. Someone smells nice. She looked up at him at the tall bulky guy in a fitted shirt and gym bag. “Sorry,” She mumbled as the guy looked down at her.
“I am the one who should apologize. Are you alright?” He asked.
“Yes,” She smiled sweetly as always. He opened the door wide for her as she thanked him and she headed quickly to her chair. She sighed as she got back to work, trying not to get attracted to any guy because she didn't want to fall in love with someone else’s mate.
In this society? Alphas, Betas…. Shifters… She's one of the wolves that can’t shift. She was unknown. This is why her mate rejected her.
Remembering it was still giving her that pang of pain. She just hoped that she wouldn't ever see him. She just hoped that someone would pick her… like their first choice… not a second or a third. Someone that they wanted.
She went to her future boss’s office and prepared all of the papers needed. She makes sure that everything is aligned and perfect. Then, she headed back to her table. Since the position of executive analyst was still vacant, she guessed that their big boss would hire someone.
She then checked the coffee and other stuff.
She then froze as she remembered the guy in the gym. Who was it? He looks familiar. But anyway, she packed up and fixed her desk. She was on her way out to the elevator when she happened to see that handsome guy again. She fixed her eyeglasses as the guy waved. She quickly pushed the open button to the elevator and he hopped in.
“Sorry,” he chuckled. “I might smell bad right now.”
“Oh, it’s fine. My sense of smell seemed to be blocked for a moment.” She said as a joke. But half of it was true. He chuckled as he tilted his head.
“Really?”
“Sinus.” She said as the man nodded. There was silence as she forgot to click the ground floor button.
“Sinus might be really bad.” He said as she nodded an agreement. She’s kind of an awkward person. “So, what’s your drug?” he asked.
“Vics,” She answered. “Or I’ll go with anything minty.”
“Great choice.” he nodded. The elevator door opened as both of them stepped out. He even opened the door for her after she tapped her ID. Then, he opened the door for her. “Great to see you again.” He said as she smiled and nodded. As she turned back, she tilted her head, puzzled. Again?
She shook the idea but surely, the guy looked so familiar. Where did she meet him?
The idea is to look presentable not for everyone but for herself. She plans to have a detour with the pharmacy that sells the best beauty products. She went there and doesn’t plan to use her credit card.
She went through it and found the best acne medicine break out. Finally, she went home, fed her cats, cleaned them up and she opened the windows and door of her room, big enough to have a space to sleep, a mini kitchen, and a bath with a toilet.
She cleaned up a few messes of her cats and vacuumed her bed. Just when she’s brushing her hair to sleep, a sudden pang of pain in her heart makes her gasp. She groaned as she reached her chest. Her mind was on the bond breaking… the excruciating pain making her breathless.
She fell on the floor as her male cats meowed and sniffed her. Tears were already dripping from her eyes as she cried in pain. Her mate… who silently rejected her five years ago was now marking another wolf.
She convulsed in pain as it was more painful than the disappointment of the way he looked at her, that night. It all came back to her as she sobbed her pain out. Disappointment, that he somehow wished that he wasn’t mated with her.
She curled up on her left side, in a fetal position, clutching her chest from the pain. His brow eyes were full of disappointment… and somehow mortified of seeing her.
She didn’t sleep the whole night, with the pain in her chest. She still gets up with a pain in her chest. She winced at the pain so much as she took a bath, fixed herself, and tried to smile at the pain. But she needs to work rather than feel it. Her tears will be useless if she’s penniless.
Wondering how that man’s other half felt after he marked his mate, made him furious. She’s fragile. She’s kind… He clenched his fist as he also felt that pain in her chest but he remained like a stone. The disappointment and hurtful words she said were forever printed in his head. “Alpha, are you well?” His Aide asked as he placed the medicine in front of him. “Please drink this. Last night, did it fade a little bit?” “It did.” He smiled. “I need another bottle for this.” “Yes, sir.” He fixed himself up with a nice smart casual suit. Then, he headed out to his car. It was just a few blocks from his penthouse, but he needed to use a car since it was scorching hot outside. He stopped upon seeing the working-hard girl. Petite, a little curvy and she’s walking briskly with her earphones on while holding a lot of paper bags from takeout. He quickly got out of his car when it stopped traffic. Then, he took his briefcase. “Sir…” “I’ll get off here.” He said as he messed his hair a bi
RJ was friendly. But her heart was at stake. She can’t fall in love just because she’s hurt and lonely. She can’t fall for that handsome man at all. She has no confidence in herself or love. Because she knew, it would only give her pain. The disappointment in their eyes was already too much to bear and rejection was already killing her. What more if she falls in love and learns that she was just a second choice? She chatted with the team as she had already taken their orders and her friend who was also on their team was busy with calls. She went back to RJ’s office and told him what they ordered and he moved closer to her as somehow, his sexy scent caught her. She wanted to move away to get away from temptation and dirty thoughts of him. He had his arms crossed while nodding. “You can now check it out.” He said as she checked it out and handed it to him. “Wait, what’s your order?” He asked with furrowed brows. She thought for a while. “I forgot about that…” He frowned. “Oh, your
She had called out the team for lunch and some were still finishing things up. Some probably were shy enough to dine with their big boss. She went to the bathroom with her kit and went directly to the cubicle. She threw up unexpectedly as she felt dizzy. She sat on the clean floor and reached her chest. She exhaled as she stayed for a while and she finally flushed the toilet and cleaned the toilet seat. She went to the sink and washed her mouth and face. She wiped her face clean as she rummaged through it and put a moisturizer on. Once she’s settled, she heads to her chair and puts her purse in her bag. “Hannah,” Reid called. “Everyone is waiting.” “Oh, sorry.” She said as she went with Reid to the conference room. They seemed to be all having fun. “Hannah, I got you a seat,” Rose called as she approached her and they all settled down. Somehow, she could feel RJ’s gaze at her as they thanked their boss for the treat. “Let’s have a meeting this afternoon, Hannah can you set up fo
The meeting went well. Somehow, the new drug that the doctor gave had made her feel better. The pain is gone and she had presented all of the reports perfectly. “Okay, for the upcoming convention in Westeros, Fabian and Hannah… also Rose, will go with me. It's a one-week convention and I think the rest will handle the tasks. Team leaders take charge.” Reid said as he finalized everything.“And I need an assistant to visit the following events at another branch.” He said and checked out. “Hannah can handle it, Reid,” Fabian suggested. “Rose can cover up?” Fabian asked Rose who nodded. Hannah has never been on any business trip and she wasn’t Reid’s assistant. She’s Fabian’s analyst in his area but why her? “Great, you can handle the flights and hotel arrangements. You can speak with Karol about that as well.” Reid said and his phone rang. “Excuse me.” he picked it up and left the room. “Sir, it’s not that I am complaining but, it should be Sir Reid’s assistant to assist him, right?
Days working with Reid weren't that easy at all. There are a lot of things to do and she has to go in and out of his office until Reid finally tells someone to place a table in his office. This is after two weeks of being trained as his analyst. Her position went up that quickly her contract was new and the pay was great. She also had her company phone and she won’t be just going to use a desktop but with a laptop for travel.Somehow, the drug seemed to work and she’s more focused on her work and the following events. She also coordinated with other department analysts to prepare for a lot of marketing events. Some were already making proposals and she reviewed it. Mostly, she learned from her boss Fabian. “Hannah, we’ve been sitting all day.” “Do you want me to fetch refreshment? I would gladly walk and enjoy the humidity outside.” Reid laughed as he nodded. He stood as he got his wallet. “Don’t bother, go get your wallet. I got the company credit card.” She raised it. “Sure,”
“My cats…” She mumbled. “Don’t worry about your cats. Just give me your house Key and I’ll have someone clean it up.” She tried to get up from the hospital bed but he pushed her down. “Oh, my best friend.” She mumbled. “My best friend was there. But she expected me to have dinner with her.” He sighed and looked at their family doctor. Doctor Markus. “She just needs some rest. Also, I think she needs to use contact lenses from now on.” He checked her eyeglasses. “And the drug works, but for now, you need to get enough nutrition. More protein for your body.” “I don’t need much of it. I’m not a shifter.” “It doesn’t matter if you are a shifter or not. But would you consent to check on your blood so I could give you the right medicine?” She nodded and extended her arm. Reid was staying on the corner. He was pissed that she had thought of something else other than her health. Once the doctor was down, he approached her and lowered his head. “Now, now. I should cancel the trip tom
She brushed her hair and put some cream on her face. She also makes sure that she’s presentable enough to face his boss. She rolled her eyes as she sighed, reaching her chest where her heart was located. She just hoped that half of her soul was fine. She needs to be fine to earn money since she’s a slave of money. She went back to the kitchen and watched as her boss was calling someone. Then, the doorbell rang. “Someone’s at the door at this hour?” She asked. “We are both hungry.” He said as he went to the door to open it. He let a man in with paper bags and other things. “Hannah, this is Chef Gordon.” “You ordered a chef?” She asked with a frown. “Oh, a pleasure to meet you, Chef Gordon. I am so sorry that you have to come all the way here~~” “No worries. I love cooking and I make the best soups.” He winked as RJ squinted his eyes at Gordon. She smiled and approached RJ as she stood next to him, feeling so small as she looked up.“I don’t understand why you should bother.” She mu
Reid loves watching her enjoy the food that Gordon cooked. She didn’t say much but after, she wanted to tell him a lot of things about Gordon’s cooking. She’s utterly speechless mostly but she had pointed out everything that Gordon used. Even the small ingredient that would make it taste good. Garlic or onions. She could taste it all. “Alright, I'll call someone to clean it up.” “Hey, don’t bother.” She stood. “I will clean it up.” “But you were just sick two hours ago.” “Boss, I have hands and I can stand. I can walk. It means that I can clean it all.” “Fine.” He sighed. “I have to go to a meeting.” “Sure.” She nodded. “Also, you can go downstairs to shop for clothes.” “But I don’t need~~” “Just go. You need proper clothes for special events. I already asked them to assist you. Also, it’s paid by the company.” He said and patted her arm as he left quickly. It wasn’t paid by the company. He lied again. But it was only white lies. He already had them charged on his account. H
