Wondering how that man’s other half felt after he marked his mate, made him furious. She’s fragile. She’s kind… He clenched his fist as he also felt that pain in her chest but he remained like a stone.
The disappointment and hurtful words she said were forever printed in his head.
“Alpha, are you well?” His Aide asked as he placed the medicine in front of him. “Please drink this. Last night, did it fade a little bit?”
“It did.” He smiled. “I need another bottle for this.”
“Yes, sir.”
He fixed himself up with a nice smart casual suit. Then, he headed out to his car. It was just a few blocks from his penthouse, but he needed to use a car since it was scorching hot outside.
He stopped upon seeing the working-hard girl. Petite, a little curvy and she’s walking briskly with her earphones on while holding a lot of paper bags from takeout. He quickly got out of his car when it stopped traffic. Then, he took his briefcase.
“Sir…”
“I’ll get off here.” He said as he messed his hair a bit and followed the girl. He quickly got in and she stopped to tap her ID by the electronic entrance. She nearly dropped one bag but he reached her. “Here, I got you.”
“Oh,” She was startled. “Thank you.” She mumbled and glanced up at her as she entered and she stopped in front and froze to see him.
He tapped his ID and he grinned.
“Shall we?” He gestured to the elevator.
She smiled as he pressed the button. He gestured first as she got in. Then, she reached for the paper bag from him.
“I got it.” She said, “Would you like some coffee? I got black coffee here.”
“Sure, I’ll get it later.” He winked as she was puzzled and faced the front as few more entered and they were pushed at the back.
He froze as her scent caught his nose. He wanted to somehow stay on her scent but not from the ten other people in the elevator. He cleared his throat as she shyly glanced up at him. She smiled and looked down.
Her shyness was adorable. But he knew that she didn't look well. As soon as they reached their floor, they entered the reception area.
“I’ll go ahead.” She said as he nodded. Then, he smiled at the receptionist.
“Are they here?” He asked. “My team?”
“Yes, RJ, your team is ready and you’ve already met Miss Hannah.”
“Yes, I did.”
“She’s very early today.” She said and handed out a document. “Also, I had told our HR Associate to give out the gifts for your team.”
“Maybe I should stay and chat with you for a bit,” He said and glanced at his wristwatch.
“Reid,” His cousin Echo who is currently finance director of their company grinned while striding toward him. He was supposed to take over the CEO position, but with more duties from his father running the Empire was too much. “Why are you not getting in? Your office is ready.”
“Nah, I am chatting with Jas here. Real gossip.”
He reached his head.
“Jas, don’t feed him with such gossip. He won’t resist.” Echo winked at her.
Reid laughed as he tapped Echo’s shoulder.
“I will go ahead now.”
He headed in as he reached his chest, feeling a pang of pain. He frowned as he headed quickly to his office to find that girl with curly black hair sitting on her chair and clutching her chest.
She seemed to be in so much pain. He took out the medicine as he approached her and placed it over her table.
“Drink this quick. It will relieve the pain,” he whispered and he walked past quickly.
“Reid, you are here.” The HR Associate greeted him and shook his head.
“Good Morning, Karol.”
“Good morning,” Karol smiled. Then, a few men approached him to greet him as she formally invited them all to the conference room.
“Hannah,” Fabian called out as he glanced at Hannah who seemed to have drunk the medicine. Like three capsules, he believes.
“Coming,” Hannah took out something and she quickly came with a smile and she was surprised again when their eyes met.
“Hey, Hannah,” Reid called out.
“Oh, your coffee,” she said and quickly turned back to get it.
“You already know, Hannah, Boss?” Fabian asked as Reid placed a hand over Fabian’s shoulder.
“It’s Reid.”
Fabian chuckled and nodded.
They all headed to the conference room as Reid told them to sit down leaving one seat to the left. Hannah entered with his coffee as he thanked her then, seeing that everyone had their coffee except her made him wonder.
“Where’s your coffee?” Reid asked.
“Oh, I don’t drink coffee, sir.” She smiled so charmingly and sweetly.
“She prefers tea,” Karol said as they all chuckled. “Everyone, this is Reid, your new General Manager.” She gestured.
“I prefer to be called Reid,” He said. “I am already familiar with Fabian and Hannah… Let’s get our introduction short.”
************
The pain had subsided and it must be the pill and Reid’s introduction or her boss seemed to be short and fun. But now, she knows who he is. The chubby tall guy who gave her a towel that night when she was bawling her eyes out was him. Now, sexy… with toned muscles. He’s so handsome and she somewhat felt bad for the girl who rejected him.
She can’t have such a nice guy like RJ. The more she looked at him, the more handsome and dashing he was. But she looked away and looked down at her notebook to take note of whatever useful things she might get. Because she knew that she could only admire him and even he… also rejected her that night. But he was nice.
Her heart was still in pain and she knew that the pain was coming up to her emotions. She needs to gather her strength not to cry.
Reid… this guy. Their new boss was very smart and she didn't want to keep looking at him. But she wanted to listen actively. She just hoped that the day would end and she wanted to curl up with her cats and just sleep.
Once the meeting ended, Reid finally headed to his office while she went to her table to get things done. She could still feel the pain.
She made sure that she got her head to work rather than feeling the pain. Her telephone rang and she was puzzled as to why their big boss was calling. She answered.
“Hello, sir.”
“Hannah, it’s RJ. Come in. I have questions.”
“Sure.” She stood and took her phone as she went to his office. She closed the glass door as she approached him. He stood and handed the tablet. She was expecting to read a report but it was an app for restaurants.
She looked up at him.
“Uhh, sir~~I”
“RJ.” He said again. She nodded.
“RJ~~”
“Order foods you like and what they like. It’s on me. And by the way, I know you feel heavy now. You can take a break in the clinic or cry… I can close the blinds.”
“Cry?” She chuckled. “I don’t have time for that. I don’t want to cry.” She sniffled. “Let’s proceed with the food.” She smiled. “So, what do you like to eat?”
He crossed his arms and thought. After a few seconds, he shrugged.
“You choose, it’s hard for me to think of food.”
She was silent as she stared down at it. She wasn’t hungry at all and it seemed that he had read her mind.
“You don’t look well,” he mumbled. “We both are not well, Hannah.”
She was silent as she started choosing foods.
“It doesn’t matter.” She chuckled. “Can I take this out for them to choose?”
He smiled and nodded.
“But I want to see what you would order for yourself. I think you should order a lot.” He crossed his arms. “We both need to drown our pain in food.”
She giggled.
“I will come back after I get their orders.”
RJ was friendly. But her heart was at stake. She can’t fall in love just because she’s hurt and lonely. She can’t fall for that handsome man at all. She has no confidence in herself or love. Because she knew, it would only give her pain. The disappointment in their eyes was already too much to bear and rejection was already killing her. What more if she falls in love and learns that she was just a second choice? She chatted with the team as she had already taken their orders and her friend who was also on their team was busy with calls. She went back to RJ’s office and told him what they ordered and he moved closer to her as somehow, his sexy scent caught her. She wanted to move away to get away from temptation and dirty thoughts of him. He had his arms crossed while nodding. “You can now check it out.” He said as she checked it out and handed it to him. “Wait, what’s your order?” He asked with furrowed brows. She thought for a while. “I forgot about that…” He frowned. “Oh, your
She had called out the team for lunch and some were still finishing things up. Some probably were shy enough to dine with their big boss. She went to the bathroom with her kit and went directly to the cubicle. She threw up unexpectedly as she felt dizzy. She sat on the clean floor and reached her chest. She exhaled as she stayed for a while and she finally flushed the toilet and cleaned the toilet seat. She went to the sink and washed her mouth and face. She wiped her face clean as she rummaged through it and put a moisturizer on. Once she’s settled, she heads to her chair and puts her purse in her bag. “Hannah,” Reid called. “Everyone is waiting.” “Oh, sorry.” She said as she went with Reid to the conference room. They seemed to be all having fun. “Hannah, I got you a seat,” Rose called as she approached her and they all settled down. Somehow, she could feel RJ’s gaze at her as they thanked their boss for the treat. “Let’s have a meeting this afternoon, Hannah can you set up fo
The meeting went well. Somehow, the new drug that the doctor gave had made her feel better. The pain is gone and she had presented all of the reports perfectly. “Okay, for the upcoming convention in Westeros, Fabian and Hannah… also Rose, will go with me. It's a one-week convention and I think the rest will handle the tasks. Team leaders take charge.” Reid said as he finalized everything.“And I need an assistant to visit the following events at another branch.” He said and checked out. “Hannah can handle it, Reid,” Fabian suggested. “Rose can cover up?” Fabian asked Rose who nodded. Hannah has never been on any business trip and she wasn’t Reid’s assistant. She’s Fabian’s analyst in his area but why her? “Great, you can handle the flights and hotel arrangements. You can speak with Karol about that as well.” Reid said and his phone rang. “Excuse me.” he picked it up and left the room. “Sir, it’s not that I am complaining but, it should be Sir Reid’s assistant to assist him, right?
Days working with Reid weren't that easy at all. There are a lot of things to do and she has to go in and out of his office until Reid finally tells someone to place a table in his office. This is after two weeks of being trained as his analyst. Her position went up that quickly her contract was new and the pay was great. She also had her company phone and she won’t be just going to use a desktop but with a laptop for travel.Somehow, the drug seemed to work and she’s more focused on her work and the following events. She also coordinated with other department analysts to prepare for a lot of marketing events. Some were already making proposals and she reviewed it. Mostly, she learned from her boss Fabian. “Hannah, we’ve been sitting all day.” “Do you want me to fetch refreshment? I would gladly walk and enjoy the humidity outside.” Reid laughed as he nodded. He stood as he got his wallet. “Don’t bother, go get your wallet. I got the company credit card.” She raised it. “Sure,”
“My cats…” She mumbled. “Don’t worry about your cats. Just give me your house Key and I’ll have someone clean it up.” She tried to get up from the hospital bed but he pushed her down. “Oh, my best friend.” She mumbled. “My best friend was there. But she expected me to have dinner with her.” He sighed and looked at their family doctor. Doctor Markus. “She just needs some rest. Also, I think she needs to use contact lenses from now on.” He checked her eyeglasses. “And the drug works, but for now, you need to get enough nutrition. More protein for your body.” “I don’t need much of it. I’m not a shifter.” “It doesn’t matter if you are a shifter or not. But would you consent to check on your blood so I could give you the right medicine?” She nodded and extended her arm. Reid was staying on the corner. He was pissed that she had thought of something else other than her health. Once the doctor was down, he approached her and lowered his head. “Now, now. I should cancel the trip tom
She brushed her hair and put some cream on her face. She also makes sure that she’s presentable enough to face his boss. She rolled her eyes as she sighed, reaching her chest where her heart was located. She just hoped that half of her soul was fine. She needs to be fine to earn money since she’s a slave of money. She went back to the kitchen and watched as her boss was calling someone. Then, the doorbell rang. “Someone’s at the door at this hour?” She asked. “We are both hungry.” He said as he went to the door to open it. He let a man in with paper bags and other things. “Hannah, this is Chef Gordon.” “You ordered a chef?” She asked with a frown. “Oh, a pleasure to meet you, Chef Gordon. I am so sorry that you have to come all the way here~~” “No worries. I love cooking and I make the best soups.” He winked as RJ squinted his eyes at Gordon. She smiled and approached RJ as she stood next to him, feeling so small as she looked up.“I don’t understand why you should bother.” She mu
Reid loves watching her enjoy the food that Gordon cooked. She didn’t say much but after, she wanted to tell him a lot of things about Gordon’s cooking. She’s utterly speechless mostly but she had pointed out everything that Gordon used. Even the small ingredient that would make it taste good. Garlic or onions. She could taste it all. “Alright, I'll call someone to clean it up.” “Hey, don’t bother.” She stood. “I will clean it up.” “But you were just sick two hours ago.” “Boss, I have hands and I can stand. I can walk. It means that I can clean it all.” “Fine.” He sighed. “I have to go to a meeting.” “Sure.” She nodded. “Also, you can go downstairs to shop for clothes.” “But I don’t need~~” “Just go. You need proper clothes for special events. I already asked them to assist you. Also, it’s paid by the company.” He said and patted her arm as he left quickly. It wasn’t paid by the company. He lied again. But it was only white lies. He already had them charged on his account. H
She chose clothes to wear. Something formal with a longer skirt. A formal dress would be fine now. She then cleared up a few schedules as she took the bag for her laptop. Now, how is she going to carry all of these downstairs? A knock on the door interrupted her as she quickly went to the door and opened it. “Hello, Miss. A cart for your luggage is here.” She peeked outside to see a few pieces of luggage over it.“Were some of them Mr. Jaxon’s clothes?” “Yes, everything is here.” She nodded and helped the man with the luggage but he insisted on putting it. “Anything else?” She checked everything and shook her head. “That’s all, thank you.” She checked the time as they needed to be there in an hour. She got ready quickly and put her laundry in the basket. Then, she took her bag which contained the gadgets and charger. She went down to the lobby and checked the tablet as she scribbled with the pen on it, waiting for her boss. She checked a few documents and replied to the emai
