259. Postpone The Wedding

A deafening silence engulfed the room, a palpable tension hanging in the air.

Putting on a confused look, Steve stood and approached her. “Heidi, what do you mean?”

Heidi glowered at him.

He pulled her into his arms and hugged her. “You must be shocked. Relax.”

The hurt ate at her heart. Heidi hated her vulnerability and helplessness.

“Why don't you understand simple words?” He whispered in her ear. “Heidi, will you never learn your lesson?”

“I hate you,” she cried.

“I can't say the same,” he whispered.

Were all men the same?

First, it was Lucas Harrison, and now Steve Anderson.

Each man had their different shades of cunningness, but she had to admit that Lucas wasn't such a monster.
