Vanessa sat at the hospital bench as she waited for her turn to be attended by the doctor.
It was a public hospital and the patients who wanted to be attended to were so many. It was already almost three hours since the time she arrived at the hospital and the waiting line was very long…….. Vanessa has been having stomach discomfort since the previous day and she thought that maybe she had consumed something that didn’t go well with her stomach. It was only that morning that she woke up to find that she was bleeding from down there that she decided to visit the doctor. At first she thought it was her monthly periods but had a doubt when she realized that the flow was heavy compared to her normal light flow. For the past one week, her husband had not stepped foot in that house. She was used to it. She loved him and she didn’t see anything wrong with it. Thinking about it, it was as if Vanessa was already used to him not being at home almost every day. “Vanessa,” the attending doctor called. Hearing his voice Vanessa was brought back to reality so she stood up and knocked at the door before pushing it open. “Have a seat please,” the Doctor said as he pointed at the seat opposite him. “Thanks much doctor,” Vanessa said as she sat down. The doctor asked her how she was feeling and the symptoms she had experienced. He did a thorough examination of her body then took her blood samples to the laboratory for more tests as she waited for the results. She waited for the doctor to finish up on what he was doing while thoughts of Lucas Hayes continued running through her head. After a few minutes the doctor came back and sat beside her. Vanessa looked at the doctor and saw him smiling, “Doctor, why are you smiling?” she asked. The doctor looked at her without responding. “Young girl, when was the last time you had your periods?” the doctor asked as he rested his head at the back of the seat. Vanessa scratched her head as she tried to think hard. Did her periods delay for so long and that why she was having such a heavy flow? She could not even recall the last time she had her periods. She was under too much stress that she was sure that the stress was the reason for her missed periods. The doctor looked at her intently not knowing that his stare was making her uncomfortable. “Congratulations girl, you are pregnant.” Vanessa stood up with a lot of surprise, “Doctor….what …what do you mean? “You are two months pregnant young girl.” Vanessa could not believe what she just heard from the doctor. She had never thought that she could get pregnant at such a time, when she least expected it. “Thanks very much doctor, do you mean there is a little human being growing inside here?” Vanessa asked as she jumped up happily. “Yes that is what I mean, but…” “But what doctor, don’t scare me please,” she said as her legs almost gave away. “It’s nothing to worry about, just make sure that you visit the hospital regularly to ensure the wellbeing of both the baby and you. We also need to make sure that you don’t experience what you experienced yesterday.” Hearing his words, that’s when she recalled that she was bleeding and that was what took her to the hospital. “Doctor, is my baby okay? Please tell me he is okay,” she begged the doctor. “Relax,” your baby is okay and will be fine if you follow everything I tell you.” Vanessa relaxed and sat back at her seat,” thanks very much doctor.” She left the hospital two hours later after being told the dos and the don’ts by the doctor. The doctor also gave her some medications that would stabilize the pregnancy. When she left the hospital she was overjoyed and she could not wait to break the good news to Lucas Hayes. She really had the great desire to have the child with the man she loved dearly. For the past two years, she kept praying that she gets pregnant but every time her periods came late, she would take a test and it would always come out negative. Vanessa had been taking pregnancy tests every month and when the test turned out to be negative every time, she got tired and decided to leave everything to fate. She felt grateful that she was lucky that her prayers were finally answered. After what seemed to be ages, the cab was parked outside the big Hayes mansion. Vanessa got out of the car, paid the driver and quickly entered the gates. The security guard at the gate looked at her in an awkward manner and Vanessa realized that he was behaving suspicious. “Is there something you want to talk to me about?” Vanessa asked. “No madam….there is nothing…everything is fine,” the security guard quickly explained. “It’s okay, I will talk to you later,” she said as she walked inside the compound. She was too excited to meet Lucas and break the good news to him so she didn’t have time to listen to the security guy. Vanessa could see Lucas's car parked outside which meant that he was back home. * Two hours ago. Lucas Hayes parked his car and after getting out he went to the other side of the car and opened the door. A beautiful lady stepped out of the car and hooked her arm onto his. Lucas Hayes kissed her on the forehead then led her inside the house. “Baby, where is she?” Eliana Moore asked coyishly. “I don’t know and I don’t want to know where that bitch is,” he responded. After they got inside the door, Lucas pulled her towards him and started kissing her lips passionately. “Baby, I missed you so much,” Eliana Moore whispered in between the kisses. It had been almost one week since the time the two got intimate and they could not wait any longer to have each other.[This chapter contains mature content‼️, please skip if you are uncomfortable reading it.] Lucas Hayes pushed her towards his bedroom with too much urgency. He pushed her towards the wall as his hands grabbed her boobs. He was too rough in his actions. Elaina Moore was mourning loudly from the pleasure she was receiving. He pushed her on the big bed then tore her dress into shreds. “Baby…my dress!!!!” She shouted. He destroyed the expensive dress he had bought for her during her twenty fifth birthday party. “Don’t worry about the dress baby, we will buy other nice dresses. She smiled. She knew that he would always give her money, despite the large amount she asked for. He was the man of her dreams, the man she loved. Lucas Hayes could not wait any longer to have her. He carried her and placed her on the bed as his hands roamed allover her body. He liked her body. She gave him the sweetest satisfaction he ever wanted. His hands went to her thighs and in no time, he was caressing
Vanessa stood up with struggle, she had to save her child. She dragged herself as blood trickled down her legs to the ground. “Hold in there baby, mummy is rushing to the hospital." The moment she got out of the gate, the pain became intense and she could not walk any more. She fell by the side of the road. She fumbled through her bag to get her phone. She quickly dialed her childhood friend’s number so that she could come over and help her. With too much struggle, she dialed the number which she had memorized and pressed the call button. “Becky, please save my baby, am at...” Before she could finish her words, she lost consciousness as he phone fell on the ground. At the Reid Corporation. Alexander Reid sat at his desk with his eyes fixed on the computer. His phone vibrated with an incoming call. He looked at the new number. He hated being disturbed by phone calls when he was busy with his work. He was used to turning it off or put it on silent mode when he didn’t want to get di
Before he could utter a word, the door was pushed open and the doctor entered the ward. He took her body temperature and her heartbeat rate. “Madam, how are you feeling now?” the doctor asked. “Am feeling like my baby is not inside here.” That was the only feeling she had. The doctor looked at here, “Madam we are sorry for the loss of your baby, but again we are lucky that you are alive.” She felt her heart bleeding from pain. The joy she had did not even last for a day. The baby she had been asking for was just gone like that. She was not able to protect her child. “She pushed me down the stairs and made me lose my baby,” she cried. Alexander Reid who was listening to her could roughly guess what had happened. He moved closer to her and held her hand. He didn’t know how to console her but he had to try. “Don’t cry, don’t think about it anymore, you will get another baby, as beautiful as you.” “Really? Will I get another baby?’ she smiled then her smile faded. “But Luc
She recalled that she had not asked him who she was and what he was doing there. Recalling what happened, she had called her friend Becky to take her to hospital but she didn’t see her when she woke up. Who could have taken her to the hospital? Could it be that man? “Are you the one who took me to the hospital?” she asked. Alexander Reid nodded his head. “How did you see me? Do you live at Queens residence?” she asked. “No, I don’t live there, you called me,” he answered. “What do you mean? I don’t recall that.” She took her phone whose power was running low and checked the call history. She realized when she dialed Becky's number, she entered one digit wrongly and the number turned out to be Alexander Reid. “Thank you very much Sir and am very sorry for bothering you that much.” Alexander Reid smiled,” am very much privileged to be of help to you,” he responded. “Am sorry,” Alexander Reid added. “Why are saying that?” Vanessa was surprised not knowing what he meant. “
Alexander Reid helped her get down from the car. Holding her hand, he led her to the house. The mansion was big and Vanessa was surprised. She never thought that Alexander was living in such a place. She knew that rich people would never help others easily but Alex's action made her disagree with that belief. “This your room, make yourself comfortable,” he said before leaving the room. Vanessa sat by the side of the bed as she looked around the room. The walls were lively and painted pink, the color she liked. The bed was so big that it could accommodate up to six people. She felt sticky everywhere, she felt as if it saw ages since the last time she took a bath. She wanted to take a very good shower and rest. She stood up with some struggle and headed to the bathroom. A hot shower was already prepared and she couldn’t tell when and who prepared it. A c
At the corner of the corridor leading to his study, Alexander hid there as he looked at her secretly. She was running as if someone was chasing after her. He thought that she would be happy if he brings a caregiver to her but it was if he was wrong. Alexander knew that all girls yearned being taken care of by someone, but it was not the case for her. He shook his head then entered his study. He picked the document that contained all the information about Vanessa and started reading through it. "Lucas Hayes" he whispered the name. The name was not very new to him, he had heard of it. He was the only son of the Hayes family in the city. He had seen him a couple of times in business parties but he had never talked to him. Although the Hayes family was rich, it could never be compared to the Reid's family. The two families were like worlds apart. The wealth of almost all the top one hundred families together could not be at the same level as the wealth of the Reid's family.
one week later. Vanessa woke up as usual and sat on the bed. She felt okey now. It was time to leave Steve's place. She didn't want to overstay the welcome. Thought ran through her mind. Marrying Lucas was Vanessa's biggest dream in the past decade. They were childhood sweethearts, grew up together and fell in love with each other. she married him and conceived his child even without expecting. She was excited when the doctor told her she was pregnant. She thought that fate had allowed her to realize her dream. Overjoyed, she thought that she would dedicate herself to building a future with Lucas and their child. She thought she was the happiest woman in the phase of the world, but all were like imaginations and fantasies which would never come true. The so-called happiness was more fragile than bubbles, and the so called love and marriage was one sided. Lucas was the one who did the wrong thing, and his girlfriend, her sister, was the one who caused Vanessa to lose her
The call was connected almost immediately. "Hello Dr Blake,""Hello,Mr Alexander.""How is he? How is the development?""Mr Alexander, for now everything is fine, but we have to observe his development first before wecan get sure if he would survive or not." Alex kept quite for a while as if he was thinking about something. "Mr Reid?" the doctor spoke when he realized he was silent. "Please, try everything you can, make sure he survives." After ending the call, Alex went to his study. The child was in a test tube, his life was at stake, but he wanted to do everything to make sure he survives and develop into maturity. He picked up his phone to make another call, this time to a very close person whom he had not communicated to for a while. Looking at the phone ringing, Alex smiled. "Hey man, not mad at me any more?" he heard the joking voice from the other end of the call. He giggled, " am still mad at you ugly du
While everything was getting heated up between Lucas and Alex, Vanessa was having the time of her life already constructing her company and visioning how it would expand and become one of the best in the state. She was so occupied that she hardly even came back home to sleep. And now that she had removed Alex from her thoughts in total, it made her concentrate more on her business. She knew what she was saying when she said that the both of them would be a distraction to her. Now that none of them were in her way, she was able to do whatever she wanted and stay away from all of them while being at peace with herself. It had been a few days since she met with Becky, and she was slowly missing her. She decided to go to her office and pay her a surprise visit. On her way to Becky's office, she had to wait for the red light as it seemed that students were crossing over to end while some were coming down from the school bus. She looked afar and she could see Alex's house. It made her rem
Even though Alex never wanted this to lead to violence, he had no choice. What Lucas had just said to him made him so angry. He couldn't believe that Lucas was still labeling Vanessa as his own wife, as someone who belonged to him despite everything he did to her. Lucas, who had even started the fight, was unable to get hold of himself. He had already become so weak—just two punches from Alex. Meanwhile, Alex was still standing firm. Just then, security guards rushed towards them and separated them as they pushed Lucas out. After hearing from the bartender that Lucas was the one who came to Alex and started the fight, yelling at him, while Alex was told to leave the bar at his own accord, which he did almost immediately. Alex did not want to go home because he still had to face Aaron. So he drove back to his office and instead sat there in the darkness, thinking about everything—mostly thinking about the words that Lucas had uttered to him.
Alex, listening to the words Vanessa muttered, could clearly understand what she was trying to say. It was more than obvious that Vanessa could not continue this anymore. She was now in a tight spot. He slowly let go of her as he caressed her hair gently. "Is Lucas still stalking you? Does he want anything from you? Do you want me to deal with him?" Alex asked as Vanessa shrugged before walking into the building. He could not help but follow after her as he needed answers. He knew that there was something Vanessa was not saying. They soon entered. Vanessa sat on the sofa and motioned for him to sit. "What you don't really understand is I don't want to be involved with any of you guys anymore. I just want to be far from the both of you. Pull me back, and I don't want to be pulled back. And I think if anything should get more heated between the both of us, I won't help but fall in love with you, and I don't want that," Van
Lucas sat in front of his mother as he slowly sipped the coffee. His mom had called him for a brief family meeting. Immediately she heard the news about Vanessa's arrival. "So did you get to meet Vanessa?" she questioned as Lucas did not say a word because he did not know how else to respond to his mother. After Vanessa had left years ago, she always blamed him that he was the reason why she lost everything. He lost a child and still lost a wife. Only for him to keep Eliana as his mistress, not even marrying her. "You have to get her back. Even though you guys are now divorced, you still need to get your wife back. She's still your wife and still belongs to you. Try to put that authority before it is too late. Do you understand?" she said to him as he smiled. "You won't tell me what to do, though. Your idea is very good. But I am planning on taking it one step at a time. I won't rush things, and I won't rush Vanessa either. She left on
The next morning, Becky opened her eyes and was surprised to see herself in Vanessa's room. Even her clothes were changed to a night dress. She sat down and rubbed her eyes, calling out to Vanessa, but yet no answer. She stood up from the bed and slowly walked out of the room. "Vanessa," she called again, but yet got no answer. She went to the kitchen, and on the counter was her breakfast. She could not help but smile because Vanessa was treating her like a princess that she never imagined she would be. She opened it, and it was a very decent Italian breakfast, just as she expected. It seemed as though Vanessa was still connected to Italy because she refused to let go of it in any way. That was when it dawned on Becky. Vanessa had come back to work again. She couldn't even believe it. Yes, she had known Vanessa for so long and knew that she was always busy with business in Italy. But she had no idea
Meanwhile, Lucas, seeing Vanessa again, took a huge toll on him because he was unable to believe that Vanessa would ever be able to look as good as she did, not to talk less of the rumors he heard that she now has a successful company in Italy, which she had now moved to the States. It felt like she had left and come back for revenge. It angered Luca so badly because he even talked to her, offered her a second chance with him, but she rejected without even thinking twice. Just then he heard a loud bang on the door. He opened it, and it was Eliana. As she stormed in, looking angry, she turned to him with her hands on her hips and a frown on her face. Lucas did not really care because he was still lost in his thoughts with Vanessa as he sat back down on the sofa, watching Eliana about to display her madness again. These few years had made him really see who Eliana was, and he was slowly getting tired of her.
While Vanessa was still lost in her imagination between her and Alex, even adding up things that had not yet happened, Becky walked in, her hands full with different home appliances which she had gone to get since she believed Vanessa forgot to buy, but it would be necessary. She walked into the kitchen, dropped everything, and then went in search of Vanessa, who was still sitting by the veranda, smiling to herself as she covered her cheek, knowing it was all hot from excessive blushing. Becky stood at the doorway to the veranda for a while, staring at her, hoping that she would get to realize her arrival. But yet Vanessa was still so lost in her imagination until Becky couldn't help but clap her hands loudly while Vanessa stood up, almost about to stumble to the ground in shock as she arranged herself and turned around only to see it was Becky. She smiled and sat back down as Becky slowly walked towards her, humming a music sound.
Alex held the door open for Vanessa, and she smiled, "Thank you." She thought to herself, He's such a gentleman, his wife is so lucky."I'm sorry I didn't get to meet your wife before leaving," Vanessa said, smiling. "I would've loved to see the woman who has such a lovely boy. I'm so jealous of her." Her heart felt a pang of emptiness at leaving Aaron, but she knew he belonged to someone else.Alex's jaw clenched, and his expression hardened. Vanessa noticed and wondered if she had said something wrong."I'm not married, and Aaron doesn't have a mother," he replied, his voice firm.Vanessa felt a surge of regret. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry." She wondered what had happened to his wife. Had she divorced him or passed away? She couldn't imagine any woman in her right mind leaving Alex and Aaron. As they drove, Vanessa told Alex her address and they used the google map.The drive took barely ten minutes, and Alex was surprised by the proximity."You live so close?" he asked, tu
Alex was already having breakfast with Aaron. Lorraine had prepared mashed potatoes with scrambled eggs. "Daddy, water please," Aaron asked his dad for help when he couldn't reach the glass. "Here you go," Alex replied, assisting his son. Aaron took a few gulps and said, "Thank you." Vanessa was taken aback by the cozy scene before her. When she heard the little boy call Alex "Daddy," her confusion deepened. She pushed aside her curiosity and put on a warm smile. "Good morning," she greeted Lorraine politely, handing over the empty bowl. "Good morning, dear," Lorraine replied, beaming with satisfaction. "You must have enjoyed the soup." "Yes, I did. It was delicious. Thank you," Vanessa said. Lorraine almost corrected the misunderstanding, but she caught Alex's gaze and understood the unspoken cue. "You're welcome, darling. I'm glad you loved it." Alex gestured for Vanessa to take the empty seat beside him. "Come sit." Vanessa nodded and settled in. "Good morning,"
