Chapter 46 - The Devil and his Witch

I appear back in my kitchen, the familiar smell of lavender and rosemary permeating the air, calming my racing mind. I prowl up and down the already well trodden flagstones. My fingers running through my hair in agitation.

A large Iron kettle began to whistle of the aga, sending out billowing plumes of white steam as it screamed at me that the water inside was boiled. Breaking out of my reverie I stalk over and pull the kettle off of the aga. 

Avalon, this was Avalon. I told myself. The same girl who not three months ago knocked on my door, looking for help. I couldn’t very well leave her in her time of need now, could I?

She was my best friend’s daughter. Oona, who like me had been abused and used by the underworld, was more like a sister to me. We had made a promise to each other, even before our children were born, that no matter what happened to us. We would always look after the others child.
