Shirley's POV
“Water,” I croaked as I opened my eyes from the annoying beeping sounds coming from the machines around me. I knew I was in a hospital.
Why? I didn't know but I hoped someone would tell me soon. My whole body hurt like hell and my throat was dry.
“Water,” I grunted and coughed in a bid to clear my throat but it didn't work. It felt like something was stuck there and wasn't coming out.
The door opened and I leaned up to see my mother, Sharon walking in.
“Finally you’re up.” She walked towards me with a straight face, no smile, she looked so cold that I almost didn’t identify her.
“Mom?”
“I need water Mum,” I groaned and she looked away pretending not to hear what I said to her. “Mummy.” I called her again, but she still didn’t answer me.
“Are you upset? Did I do anything wrong? Why are you not talking to me?” I asked her, still sounding very weak.
Sharon didn’t say anything to me, she sat beside my bed looking at me like she was seeing a ghost. This is very unlike Sharon, though she can be cold sometimes but it has never been this bad. “Say something mum, you’re scaring me.” I pleaded.
I inhaled sharply as tears welled down my eyes, her silence was hurting me.
“I'm sore all over. What happened?”
She stood up from where she was sitting and took a seat by the edge of the bed. “You don't remember?” At the shake of my head, she sighed and continued. “You had an accident and you were rushed to the hospital by a gentleman.”
I frowned as I tried to recall what had happened. The events leading up to the accident were a bit of a blur. “I remember the wedding, Felix…” I trailed off as images started popping into my head one after the other like a film. “Where is Felix?”
“Are you sure you remember everything?” Mum asked, as she looked at my face carefully like she was trying to figure out something.
“I was waiting for Felix at the altar but he never came. Come to think of it, you and Dad weren't present either.” I turned to look at her with a serious expression, but at the moment I was not interested in that, my only concern now is Felix. “Why isn't Felix here?” He's my fiancée and he should be fawning over me.
Mom looked like she was not moved by my words. “We had a very important place to be, I mean my daughter was getting married the same day.” I was confused. From what I could remember I am the only child she has .
“Mom, what are you talking about?” Her phone pinged and I snatched it up before she could cover whatever it was up.
Something felt terribly wrong but I couldn't put my finger on it.
I saw a thousand notifications since my mother had never been one to clear them before and scrolled through to see one from I*******m.
“Give me back my phone, else you’re going to regret what you see.” Mum said to me as I was going through the phone.
I clicked on it and it took me straight to Amelia's page. Amelia was my best friend of three years and one of the few people I trusted outside Felix and my parents.
I scrolled through hoping for an answer to my dilemma and then I stumbled on a video.
“Shirley, you're so stubborn, give me back my phone.” She tried to pluck the phone out of my hand but I turned to her other side putting the phone out of her reach.
My eyes widened when I saw Felix standing at the altar with a wide grin on his face as a veiled woman walked up to him.
Why would Amelia post something like this? The woman wasn't me because Felix hadn't been decent enough to show up for our wedding.
I had been standing around in my wedding dress looking pathetic while he never showed up.
“Who's the bride, Mum?” I asked my mother as I spotted her face amongst the people in the video. I suddenly recalled that she talked about attending her daughter’s wedding. My head was spinning. I just wanted to wake up from this horrible nightmare.
She was sitting beside my father who had a huge smile on his face.
“What is this mom? Why do I see you here? And why is Felix getting married to another woman? Is this a prank?” I started laughing at the thought that they were trying to prank me, but then I realized there was no change in emotion from my mom, then I realized it’s reality. “Talk to me mom! Say something!” I yelled angrily.
“You’ve seen it all, what do you want me to tell you again?”
I sneered and turned to glare at her. “Mum, did you know Felix was never going to marry me from the start?”
She was completely emotionless while I was dying inside, my heart was burning “He wanted a true Anderson.”
“Mum, what are you saying?” I whispered to her as tears began streaming down my face. “You and Dad were there grinning from ear to ear as Felix married someone else,” I roared and she shrunk back, standing on her feet.
“We didn't mean for any of this to happen but Felix made his choice,”
I scoffed but looked down at the photo as the rest of the ceremony played out before my eyes.
The bride's face was still covered and Felix looked so happy, his smile was blinding.
I held my breath as Felix leaned forward to raise the veil.
Mum stood up just then and reached for the phone but the veil was off and I gasped as I saw the person. “That's enough, you should get some rest.”
She tucked her phone away but the damage was already done.
I gulped as tears filled my eyes. “Amelia and Felix?”
She sighed and looked at me, she was not moved by my tears nor my words, it felt like I was talking to a log of wood. “I will be on my way now.” I was still too startled to say a word to her.
The moment she walked out of the room, I snapped out of my reverie and slid off the bed.
I had to see Amelia, she had a lot of explaining to do. Why would she be marrying my fiancée? None of this made sense.
I stepped out of the room and slammed the door shut behind me.
I spotted Mum slipping into a hospital room and followed her.
When I got close enough, I could hear voices. I picked up on Felix's deep voice and Amelia's cool one.
“She's awake and she's asking a lot of questions.” Mum said, her voice echoing in my mind.
“Well the transplant was successful so we don't have to pretend anymore.”
I frowned. Transplant? What are they talking about? Summoning the courage, I pushed the door open and walked in.
Everyone froze, even Mum.
“Hey Shirley, you're awake. How are you feeling?” Amelia asked, her smile looking forced.
I narrowed my eyes and looked down at the huge diamond ring on her finger. “Where did you get that?”
She looked down at her hand and stretched the hand properly like she wanted me to see it very well . “Oh it's nothing. It's my husband’s family heirloom.” She slid off her bed and walked up to me.
“You shouldn't be on your feet. Why don't you go back to bed?” I was hurting, why is she still pretending to care when obviously she doesn’t.
I shrugged her off and slapped her hard across the face. Mum gasped and Felix glared at me but I was fazed.
“How dare you?” Sharon asked angrily, I slapped Amelia but it’s mom that’s yelling at me, when she’s supposed to be on my side.
“How dare you, Amelia? You're supposed to be my best friend. Of all the men, couldn't you have married to anyone else? Why did it have to be my Felix?”
She leaned up and started laughing. “Your Felix?” She breathed out when she calmed down. “Dear he was never yours.”
“What do you mean?” I asked as a sinking feeling enveloped me.
She looked back at Mum and Felix. “Who's going to tell her?”
“Tell me what?”
Shirley's POV“You're just a spare tire,” Amelia said. Her usually cool voice was now bitter as her eyes flashed with hatred. “What are you talking about?” I choked, refusing to believe it. She turned to my mother and smirked. “Mum, you want to do the honours?” “Sorry darling, I already told her but she’s just too slow to understand what I was talking about. I became confused all over again, “what are they talking about? What did she try telling me that I didn’t get?My eyes widened and I coughed when I finally realized what they were talking about. “What are you saying? Oh my goodness, where's the camera, fine y'all got me, please round it up cos I'm losing my mind right now.” I said to them but no one moved, they didn't act like I was talking to them, then I figured out Felix was standing there looking at me with guilt, mom and Amelia looked cold. “It’s true?.” “It's English Dumbo. You are just the adopted one and I had to pretend to be just your best friend, mom had twins, sho
Shirley's POV I snapped out of my thoughts and pulled away just as the driver walked up to me. He frowned down at the little boy and pulled him away. “I apologise Miss but he must have confused you with someone else. He does this a lot so pay him no mind.” The little boy in question struggled against him and kept stretching to touch me. I sighed and leaned down, picking him up in my arms. Immediately his cries and protest stopped. “I'll just stay with him until he falls asleep.” The driver opened his mouth to argue but I shook my head. “If that's okay, of course,” I added as he struggled within himself. He gave me a curt nod and I smiled. “Could I get some dry clothes?” He sighed and nodded, motioning for me to continue walking. I adjusted the boy's head on my chest and started walking up the stairs again. Once we reached the top stairway, the little boy raised his head and pointed at a door. “That's your room mummy!” He yelled excitedly and started bouncing in my arms. I g
Shirley's POV He chuckled, the sound both mocking and intimidating. “You won't,” I blinked. “Excuse me?” He cleared his throat. “You won't refuse because deep down you know you need my protection.” He stood up from the table and walked back to his seat. “You're all alone now. Your family and everyone you ever cared about betrayed you. Your whole life is a lie and you are angry. I can help you get revenge against them.” I sucked in a breath, his words opening up the wounds that were beginning to heal. And he was right, I was alone and didn't have anyone. “You can think about it but you don't have time. I do always get what I want and seeing as my little boy is convinced you're his mother, I will make sure it stays that way.” I shivered and swallowed saliva. “I need to go and prepare for my day..” I whispered as I staggered to my feet. “You're attending Yvonne Steel's birthday party.” He announced and I whipped around in shock. Has he been stalking me or something? “Adam will ta
Third Person's POV Shirley felt like she was hallucinating or suffering from a hearing problem. “Uncle Jackson?” Felix muttered as he let go of my hand. “What are you doing here?” Jackson ignored him and turned to the woman who was standing there, looking utterly confused. “Darling, would you like to retouch your makeup in the car?” Shirley stammered. “I…there's…sure.” She eventually gave in and allowed him to lead her to the car. Amelia pinched Felix's hand and glared at Shirley's back, envy trimming in her eyes. “How did she even know him? Why would he want someone as plain as her?” Felix was too stunned to pick up on the jealousy in her voice. “I don't know. What is he even doing here?” He turned to ask his grandmother but found that she had walked off. He sighed and patted Amelia's arm. “They are crazy,” Felix said and walked away, Amelia followed behind but paused for a moment.Amelia bit her lip and stared at the luxury car parked in the driveway. She smirked as an evil p
Shirley’s povThe next morning. I woke up very early in the morning and sat up on the bed while yawning with my hand covering my mouth. I suddenly had a flashback to what happened last night. My heart started beating faster than normal then I placed my hand on my chest. “I can’t believe he actually did that yesterday.” I muttered and placed my hand on my head feeling conflicted. The more I tried not to think about it the more it lingered in my mind. I heaved a sigh of worry, there were so many things to consider, which is why I was living more in accepting then rejecting it. Seeing how arrogant Amelia has become because she succeeded in getting Felix. I thought life would be very difficult for me if I don’t accept Jackson, they’re going to keep rubbing it in my face that they were able to hurt me. But considering what he does, Jackson is a dangerous Mafia, my life could be in danger living with him. I was getting frustrated and tired thinking about everything, I fell back on the b
Third person povJackson was pissed to hear the kind of question Felix asked him. He turned to look at Felix and smirked. “Do I look like a child that doesn’t know what he’s doing?” Jackson asked. His tone was so scary that even Shirley shivered a little. Felix quickly turned his straight face into a smile. “Uncle, I didn’t mean it that way, I was only wondering why you decided to rush the proposal, you don’t even know the kind of woman she is.” Shirley was fuming while listening to what Felix was saying to his uncle, she knew Jackson isn’t the type to be easily manipulated but words like that can put a seed of doubt in his mind, the only good thing is that the marriage isn’t real. “Felix can you stop!” Shirley yelled at the top of her voice, getting the immediate attention of everyone. Amelia smirked sheepishly the moment she heard Shirley. “Are you about to show everyone the real you?” Amelia asked. “What? Haven’t you two done enough? you are married now, can you stay out of my
Shirley’s povI still can’t wrap my head around the reality that I would be getting married to Jackson, so many things were going on at the same time and there’s Dylan too, whom I need to consider before doing anything because of how much he likes me. I patted his head softly as he was laying beside me because he refused to sleep in his room last night. He wanted to spend time with me here. Today is the wedding and I am not even sure I’m taking the right step. I gently got up from the bed and headed out of the room, by the time I got to the sitting room, it almost looked like a completely different place. How were they able to set up immediately? The sitting room was used as the hall for the wedding tonight. Yvonne wants it to be just a small gathering of people. She didn’t want a crowd so she chose to use the house and there’s no one that can object to her decision. I rushed back to my room, it’s really happening. I’m really getting married today. I rushed into the bathroom to t
Shirley povBefore I could ask him any question he placed his lips on mine, I couldn’t resist it because it’s not just what the crowd wants, it’s also what I want. We kissed passionately and almost forgot it’s our wedding. “This can continue in the room later.” The wedding host announced and there was laughter from the crowd as we both stopped. I was so shy that I couldn’t look him in the eyes after the hot kiss we shared. I raised my head shyly to look at the crowd and they were still smiling and having little side talks. The only person that her eyes were fixed towards my direction was none other than my sister, or rather my parents' biological daughter and her husband. He angrily stood up and walked away, looking like he was affected by the hot kiss. Our eyes met and she smirked before looking away while shaking her glass of wine in a stirring form. I knew she wasn’t happy for me and good thing she’s not pretending to be. It was time to greet the guests. It was supposed to be a l
Shirley’s povI didn’t feel good about Matilda’s presence in the house but I had to act like I was okay because I don’t want Jackson to do anything stupid to her. Of late I’ve been seeing some slight changes in him and he’s showing me the side of him I didn’t know of before. So he definitely would try to do something stupid to her if I don’t stop him. “You’re good with her?” He suddenly asked and I snapped out of my mindless thought. “Not exactly, but it’s obvious she has nowhere to go, if she had a place to stay she wouldn’t be here, forcing herself to stay with us.” I tried to explain to him. I was trying to suppress his anger so that he could calm down and not scream on her at the top of his voice. “Does my house look like a charity home where those without a roof under their head can run to whenever they like?” He asked angrily. I couldn’t say anything when he asked the question, our happy family meal time had already been ruined because of her presence. I cursed under my breat

She made lunch for the family after telling the maids not to worry about serving thdm because she wants to he in charge of making lunch. While she was cooking in the kitchen Jackson walked inside and started inhaling the aroma of a tasty meal. He couldn’t stop inhaling the aroma because if smelt really delicious.“Looks like the queen of the house decided to cook herself today, what’s the occasion?” Jackson asked with a bright smile on his face as he was waiting to hear what she’s going to say.“Is it a bad idea to just decide to cook? There’s no occasion, I just want to do this.”“Are you a good cook?” He asked curiously and sat down so that he can watch her cook. Shirley was surprised to see Jackson act so sweet towards her. He was wondering what was the occasion.Shirley hardly sees him he this sweet towards her but it felt good seeing him act that way, she couldn’t
Amelia povI stood up from the floor where I was sitting angrily and then I realized that I cannot sit down and do nothing anymore I have to make her pay whichever way possible, I'll make sure that she feels so much pain that would make her unable to forget me as long as she lives.I felt hurt and the only way I can feel better is if I see her in pain as well, I will make sure that she pays for what she has made me go through.I was in the hospital for hours watching over Yvonne just as he wanted, I went as far as telling a lie for him and the only thing he could use to repay me is to betray me like this dropping such a message for me when he knows that it's something that I can never accept. I decided to start my new plan, there is no point waiting for the right time anymore because clearly no time will ever be right what that girl needs is my wrath.I will never forgive Shirley for what she did to me, I'll never let her live happily after ruining my life like this, she made my husba
Next chapter*****Writer's povSeeing what happened in the hospital Amelia saw it like it came as a blessing to her, Maybe this is the reason why she was meant to stay behind so that she could find a proper way to kill Shirley. After finding out this sweet plan Amelia couldn't stay calm she kept thinking of the doctor she would call and how she is going to plan it all out. She thought about hurting herself but she needed to hurt herself the right way that will make everyone believe that she really was in an accident and desperately needs blood. Shirley and Amelia's blood was a march because they have done it long before which is one of reasons why she was useful in the family. Amelia realizes that her plan is likely to work perfectly because she has changed leads and everyone in the house and testify to her presence change so they won't think she has another mission behind one thing: Shirley's blood. While she was watching over Yvonne she still had it in mind, she kept thinking
Writer's povJackson rushed to the word where his mother was laying he got there and saw her completely unconscious he couldn't believe what Amelia told him about his mother falling from the stairs because she was running downstairs to stop Amelia from leaving the house it's just felt totally unbelievable because in as much as his mom already likes Amelia she can't hurt herself just to stop Amelia from leaving. He stayed in the ward looking at his mother, he knew that both of them don't get along well, but seeing her in such a condition breaks his heart, he doesn't want to see her like this, they could keep nagging at each other, hurling insults at themselves but this is unacceptable.Shelly watched Jackson from the class beauty hospital award and she could see very well that he was worried about his mother. She has never seen him look so worried before as she got closer to him she was beginning to see more vulnerable sides of him.Shelly remember Amelia said and she also couldn't hel
Writer's pov“Grandma, you know exactly what I'm talking about. I know that you were trying to protect your son's marriage, which is why you're doing everything to make sure that Amelia and I get back together so that I don't go after the person that I really love, which is Shirley.” This came as breaking news to Yvonne because she has never thought about such a thing and why would she even think that when it's up to the young ones to make the decision.“I really don't know why you are trying to rob my good will on trying to protect my son's marriage I am only doing this because I seek what time shows in the both of you and as you can see Amelia has been trying really hard to prove that she is a better person now remember how she handled my birthday party and she hardly gets upset this days that's the only thing that is making me feel like she is a change person and you two can start things together again.” Felix loved when he heard what Yvonne said.Yvonne did find what she said funn
Writer's povAmelia was still desperately in touch of something that she could do to hurt Shirley. She thought about killing Shirley several times but she stopped herself from thinking that way because it was only both her in a bad situation and she might have to spend the rest of our life in prison which would mean that uh punishment to Shirley only came back to Haunt her. Amelia wanted something that would hurt slowly until she's unable to fight it anymore and end up dying.Amelia couldn't stop pacing around the pool area with a glass of juice in her hand in the deepest lines even though she was pretending to everyone that she had changed. The only person that knows she hasn't is Shirley and Amelia only confirmed it after the words exchange they had a few hours ago.She remembered that during the conversation Shirley how to talk about giving her a part from her body but Amelia didn't feel grateful about that anymore because it's all in the past now right now all she wants is somethi
Writer’s povAmelia suddenly changed which was disturbing to everyone, she went as far as pretending to be nice to Shirley though Shirley couldn't trust that she was being real, she knew that there was more to the kind gestures. It seemed like things changed overnight because of the way Amelia was behaving. Though they were all happy that Amelia had stopped acting strange. Shirley and Yvonne were still worried about her because she is still Amelia and they know that she has been taking those strange pills. They couldn't let their guards down as she might be up to something evil, something that might ruin things.Felix wasn't talking about divorce as well because Yvonne advised him not to talk about it for now until her birthday and since Amelia is the one planning the birthday and it's just in a few days it would be better he keeps the divorce on hold.“I can't believe that the birthday is finally tomorrow and I will be able to rest. I have been running up and down, always trying to
Writer's povAmelia was still in the sitting room. She was still in shock after the slap that Felix gave to her. And as usual the only person she could blame it on was Shirley. She sat on the couch with her hand on her cheek thinking of how to make Shirley's life miserable worse than what she is going through right now.Amelia could recollect very well how cold his eyes were after slapping her. He didn't look remorseful like he had done something bad, instead she could feel that satisfaction in his face after slapping her.She was wondering why Felix grew to hate her so much, it wasn't this bad earlier because then he tried to hide his feelings for Shirley, and instead of loving her he chose to hate her, he hated even her smiles, he hated practically everything about her but all of a sudden things are now different he now makes it obvious in the presence of everyone that he likes her. He even went as far as telling her husband.Amelia wasn't ready to let Shirley live peacefully when h
