The wooden grandfather clock on the far wall creaked loudly with each sweep of its pendulum as it prepared to chime three times. I wiped my sweaty hands on my red capri pants and opened the first button of my white button down shirt that was neatly tucked in my pants. The white sneakers that were stripped red complimented my attire way too well.

The silence in the room was as sharp as a knife but all that prevented it from killing me was the ticking of the clock. My frustration level was increasing by every tick. Then I heard the creak of the bedroom door that made me stand up on my feet, away from my marshmallow bed.
