Now dive in.Love,Krystal GoodNovelEverything around me was moving. I could feel it. Under my head, I could sense something, a little hard along with the softness. My body was although laying but I still felt uncomfortable and whatever was covering me at the top like a blanket was definitely not a blanket as it was too short, covering my arms only.
As soon as I gained a little more consciousness, I was able to smell a soft minty cologne that I assumed was coming from the thing that was covering me. Then I felt a soft brush against my skin, tucking something behind my ear. The touch was so soft but the thing that brushed against me was rough. It made a shiver to travel through my body.
That shiver pulled me into complete consciousness. I opened my eyes slowly and the vision soon became clear enough to see what I was looking at. I blinked once, twice, thrice and the fourth time I started to blink rapidly.
"Did something got into your eyes?" The same powerful and soft voice spoke which was also filled with concern.
These words left the mouth of that Korean man. I was laying on the lap of that man and his brown leather jacket was on top of me, preventing the cold from hitting me. On comprehending the situation, I instantly shoot up which caused our heads to collide.
"What was that for?" He asked while rubbing his forehead.
This caused his silky straight black hair to fall on his forehead. After squinting at the surroundings, I came to the conclusion that I was in a truck which was driving through a very small tunnel, which I never knew existed. It felt under the ground. I was in the back of the truck, alone with the Korean man. Short conclusion; I got kidnapped. I looked at the Korean man with eyes wide open and saw that he was already looking at me with amusing eyes and a ghostly smile flying over his face.
"You...you......you..." I couldn't speak. What was wrong with me? I needed to start to act like a grown up woman which I was.
"Hold old are you?" He asked shocking me. Seriously?
"What?" I asked.
"You heard me Amelia." He said my name with such calmness that one couldn't believe it that he was my kidnapper or as if we were meeting the first time.
"26 years. You?" I couldn't prevent that question from slipping off my tongue.
"27." He replied with a visible smile now. He placed his arms on his lap and placed his face in his hand, supporting his head.
"You look younger than that. If you weren't a doctor I would have thought you were lying." He was starting a chat. What a friendly kidnapper.
"Mr.Kidnapper, stop drifting off the topic. Tell me, why did you kidnap me?" I asked curiously and angrily.
"Jung-hoon."
"What?" I asked.
"Seems like you got some serious hearing problem Dr.Amelia. You need a treatment. Anyways, I said Jung-hoon. That's my name." He said the last part in the tone 'duh'. His name suggested that he was a Korean. I was 100% right.
"Mr.Jung-hoon, I didn't ask for your opinion neither for your name. Just let me go."
I continued while turning my body so that I would completely face him, "I promise I will help you in future like if you ever get bitten by one of the creatures or anything. Just you if you will let me go. Please...." I waited for him to speak but he didn't. Silence followed for about two minutes until he broke it finally, still looking at me.
"I told you that I am taking you so that you can cure our leader. He got bitten by one of the plagued creatures. However, he is still alive because the bite was very small and it was done by a young creature." He simply stated.
"Look," I started with my words rolling slowly off my tongue, "I don't know how to cure him. I just lost one of our men the last week when he got bit by one of your created beings. Adding to this, why don't you people cure him yourself? He got bit by 'your' creation." I said with hate bathing my words. This caused him to sit straight. Did my words hurt him? But that was the truth.
"Look, I am going to give you some advice..."
"I don't want any! Please just let me go!" I shouted at him but he continued with a harsher tone and stare that made me hear him.
"It would be better if you follow what I am going to say. Our leader, Jake is a very powerful, influential person with a very, very short temper. He is not used to hearing the word no. If he says get up, then get up, if he says sit, you sit. One wrong move and believe me he won't even think twice about killing you and before you can say sorry, your soul will already be travelling towards the sky, leaving your body. And..." He continued with the birth of an evil grin slowly appearing on his plump lips, "Let me add something more, I have pointed out that you really care about people so if you care about the other junior doctor and the residents whose lives are in our hands, then I think it would be better if you just do what you have been told to. Get this all fit in your mind as soon as possible. We are almost there." After saying this he turned his gaze away and started to stare outside through the little window.
I kept on looking at him. He didn't felt like how he was at first. Amusement in his eyes, friendly talk and the genuine smile on his lips, all had been squeezed out. He was right. When I risked my own life to save him, he understood that I cared for people. I couldn't let Erin or anyone else get hurt because of me. I just had to cure that leader called Jake. Although my every drop of blood abhorred these demons who had brought an end to the life on the earth, I had to do this. I had protected people in the past so I still will.
I gave Jung-hoon a last glance after which I sat with my back taking the support of the seat, remained at his right side and kept his jacket on me to keep myself warm. His cologne was really good. Wait...I shouldn't be thinking about him. He was also among The Beasts. He might be good looking but no. He didn't even say thanks to me for saving his life and what did I get in return? Got kidnapped. A hand of applause for Dr.Amelia.
The truck halted to a stop making me jump out of my thoughts. They had built a whole world underground. It was just as historic as the life was back when the world was going fine. There were ample of lightings which felt pleasant to the eyes. Few more trucks were lined up where our truck had parked. There were several tunnels with long window panels, reaching the floor at the right side while huge tall pillars enhanced the beauty. The view outside displayed long grown grass that disabled the ability to see behind them.
It felt like this city within a city was built many years ago as it was a fully planned construction, which indicated that the plan regarding the plague was already created. What were The Beasts up to when they started off with this? At that moment I made up my mind about getting the answers to all of my questions. The questions that made my head hurt since so many years. Finally, they were going to be answered."Come." I saw Jung-hoon standing outside the truck, gesturing me to come out. To
I pushed myself on the seat towards the opening of the truck and suddenly, pain shoot throughout my body, especially my left arm and left foot. I glanced at them and found them covered with white bandage. The scenes of the fight with the creature buzzed into my mind and it felt quite nostalgic.
When I tried to come out of the truck, the pain caused me to wince in an audible voice and I stopped in my mid-tracks when I was greeted by a hand. I followed up the path of the arm and met the owner of the hand, Jung-hoon. I ignored his help and jumped off the truck myself. I knew how to help myself and didn't need anyone. That was what made me strong. He drew his hand back and pushed them into his pockets.
"Listen, don't talk to anyone and ignore what people will say. I am going to take you to Jake's room. Don't call him by his name. Call him sir. And wait." He asked me to stop while I was following him through the tunnel. He came forward and I involuntarily took a step back. He then took another and held my arm.
"Wait I said." He said with his voice a little low.
I looked into his eyes that were searching my face for something. I scrunched my brows together in puzzlement. Then he went the other way around me and stopped at my back. I didn't turn around and froze when he touched my hair. He gathered them all and tied them into a rough bun.
Then he came at the front and pulled out few of the strands of my hair and left them loosely in front of my face; kind of covering it. I tried to pull them back but his rough and warm hand stopped me. His touch was soft. I quickly withdrew my hand away and at this he took a step back.
Then he looked at the ground and started to search for something. He went to a corner and dipped his hand in the mud that was gathered in a corner. After that he came to me. Just when his hand was a little away from my face, he stopped.
"I am going to rub a little on your face. I don't want everyone there to stare at you. Seems like there is no need to do this for the rest of your body as you already got mud there." I had applied the mud to reduce the human smell when we went for hunting. What he said however, made my heart beat race. He didn't want anyone to stare at me.
Saying that, he rubbed his rough fingers softly on my face. The brush was very smooth. When he was done with that, he looked into my eyes and his hand stopped on my cheek, cupping it. His gaze was piercing with so many emotions inside. I averted my gaze away from him and this signified him and he pulled away with an awkward cough. That was really awkward.
"Much better but still you look beaut...anyways." He stopped what he was saying and that made me feel angry. Then he started to walk and I followed him while gripping my left arm with my right hand and forcefully dragging my left foot, thinking of what was ahead of me.
Fate was always unpredictable, even though when one feels that it can be prognosticated, no it couldn't be. This was what I had learnt so far. I was ready to encounter what was laying before me, ready to greet it with a smile in order to bid it a goodbye.
If trouble is waved a goodbye with a smile, it will get jealous of your genuine happiness and will head back from where it came so remember dear, let the leaves of terror fall and then drown but don't let them cover you or you might not be able to get out for they might bring darkness with pain. Always stay strong. The words of my mom rang through my head; words which she had spoken when I was entering the medical college This was the time for me to prove myself and make her proud. I was ready.

We Break, We FallWe Heal, We RiseThis phrase is often trivialized by the people but ones who go through these stages can only enter into the depth of it's connotative power. I along with 93 more people, are among those. Saying that I and they were lucky to be of those felt a little wrong but was the same case with saying that we were unlucky. Both going simultaneously side by side would be better. The world had reached the stage when one could effortlessly prognosticate when we all would die and leave this hell on earth. Few would say it was worse than a hell. The plague had enveloped the whole world and only few with serendipity or maybe with bad luck had survived, living in different corners of the world. Only 93 and including me, 94 were alive on the face of this once alluring place, Charleston, South Carolina. We were the hapless people, leaving no room for any doubt. This historical city was now embedded with the greates
“Amelia!"I heard a shrieking cry which caused the keys from my hand to slip onto the muddy ground. I hastily picked up the keys and on turning back my eyes met with a pair of bright blue eyes. The light brown colored hair were reflecting off the bright light of the sun that was entering through the small holes in the wall."What is it Erin?" I asked with several thoughts buzzing in my mind.
