"Hello, Dr.Amelia." He spoke with a voice so artificially silky. My name felt too bad coming off from his tongue.
"Seems like The Beasts aren't yet satisfied with the never ending mess they have created, hmm?" I asked with anger fuming inside me.
I was still standing where I was, under the tree, with the fallen fruits on the ground and my knife many feet away from me.
My thoughts were a swirling tempest of regret, fear and rage. Regret of standing there helpless, fear of getting eaten by one of the Creatures who might be on their way with their army ready to feed on us and rage for the members of The Beasts who were looking at me with amusement, as if I was some clown entertaining them while they were watching the show. Gosh, where were the rest of the two hunters? I really needed a hand here.
"Well, you can say so. But anyways, we are here for something or to be exact; someone." He spoke while keeping his eyes on me. Oh no, didn't sound good.
"Langdon, will you cut off the suspense? Look at the poor doctor. She is frightened. Well yes, we are here for you beauty so quietly move your ass from there, get your arms tied up along with that pretty mouth of yours and follow us, if you are keen to keep your people safe."
Said another man who was too fat that his buttoned shirt couldn't fit him well. It felt like the buttons were about to pop out any time.
The first man who had initiated the talk had antique golden hair that were so much greasy. He had charcoal grey colored eyes with a light beard and moustache. Felt like he hadn't shaved since few weeks but unlike the other fat man, he was well built but not tall.
Anyways his figure in front of my petite figure might make one feel like he could easily put me down but no. I was a karate champion since my childhood with enough metabolism to kick him off his feet. However, I couldn't do that right now, yet."If you think that I am a fool who would enter a hell herself than I am sorry to disappoint you." I said while taking a step forward.
This caught their attention and their hands went towards their pockets where they kept their weapons but something stopped them. They looked behind me. I was caught off-gaurd when two strong arms held me from the back. One of his hands held my wrists, knotting them at my back while one was on my neck.
My back was pushed into a tight, hard and well built chest which I could easily feel from this much contact. The arm in front of my neck, making it hard for me to breath had veins that were trying to pop out of the arm.
The complexion was fair and skin was too smooth, just like that of Chinese people or Koreans. I felt hot breath fanning my neck and my breath started to hitch while lungs tried their best to get oxygen.
"Dr.Amelia, things would have been a lot easier if you could just have listened to what Joe said. But you made your own choice so let's get it done a harder way."
The voice was so beautiful. Yes, powerful but yet soft. The accent reminded me of Korean people when they speak English, as this man was trying hard to pronounce 's' as s and not as 'j' or 'g'; so this meant that the owner was either a Chinese or a Korean.
"What do you people want from me?" I squeaked.
My voice was barely audible for the two men who were standing right in front of me, smiling proudly. How much I wanted to wipe out that stupid smile off their faces. Just you people wait.
On hearing my squeaking voice the pressure on my neck was lessened a little which allowed me to catch my breath but at the same time he tightened his grip on my hands at my back causing me to whimper.
"It is time for you to put your profession into practise since we want you to cure our leader. Simple. I don't want to knock you off so it would be better if..." He couldn't complete as he was interrupted by what I was fearing about since the very moment I stepped out of the mall. One of the creatures was here.
Gosh, there were no words to describe it. It's basic structure was like a man who was standing on his feet and hands. But coming onto the other outlines, it had big claws with sharp nails in place of normal hands and feet.
There were bones which could be seen from a very thin layer of skin. It had no eyes and there was just skin at that place. It's mouth was the most terrifying part of all.
It stretched from the normal point and ended near the eyes, at the side as if someone forces ones mouth to open and it gets torn from the sides. There were sharp teeth inside followed by two structures at the top that were like a spider's hands or which ever part it was. The mouth was too red and also the other parts of the body.
I had seen these creatures few times at the beginning of the spreading of the plague but at that time they didn't look like this. They grew stronger over the time.It stood at the ending of the alley from where I came through and entered this place. On bringing it's horrifying face towards us, it opened its mouth and a green sticky saliva could be seen. That was to be avoided at all costs. The growling sound that it generated caused the man who was holding me to lessen his grip on me.
Everyone was staring at him now with their full attention. This gave me my chance. I kicked backwards really hard at the man who was holding me, causing him to lose his grip on me and let out a whimper of pain.
I rolled over to the other side of the tree and gripped my knife tightly. The Beasts were shocked yet surprised to see this. They didn't know what to do; whether to run to save their lives from the creature at front which was slithering slowly towards us, or to catch me. The creature was quite weak as it was far too slow. Okay. That was good.
I turned and looked at The Beasts and my eyes met the man who was holding me. He looked like he was a Korean. He was even more handsome than the members of the Kpop bands like BTS and EXO. Don't get me wrong.
He had the rarest coloured eyes; amber. Koreans don't have that coloured eyes but anyways, that was not something I should have been thinking about. That man was staring at me. He was tall like maybe 5'9 or 6'0 feet. Taller than the basic height of Koreans.
What the hell was I thinking? I had so much more to think of and there I was, staring shamelessly at a handsome man. Handsome?! Oh god. I really had to treat myself.
While I was too busy looking at him and he was also too busy looking at me, we got distracted from our staring contest when we heard a shrilling shout. The two men, Langdon and Joe were far away from the creature while that creature jumped on that Korean man.I felt like my heart beat stopped. I couldn't see someone dying in front of me. Those two men ran away without creating any sound while I stood frozen where I was, watching that man fighting with the creature. If there was one then that meant that there were more coming. I could run. I had the chance.
Just when I was about to run, my eyes caught that man who was right now in such a situation where either there was death or...death? There wasn't any chance to win. I was a doctor and what did doctors do? Save the lives, no matter bad or good people they were.
Like I was, a soft hearted and kind person, decided to help that man. The first thing that came into my mind was to hold one of the fruits from the ground and throw at the creature. Definitely they didn't like these as this place was always untouched and the people whom I had treated always got cured with the assistance of these fruits. At that moment they felt the only way. So that is what I did.
I started to throw the fruits one by one on the creature and how childish it looked, the results it brought weren't good either. It let out a very small whimper but did something which I knew might come but still had went against it.
The creature turned it's head to 360 degrees completely and looked at me. Although there weren't any eyes but I could easily get the message from its deafening scream at me that it was not happy with what I did. It jumped off the Korean man who was very surprised when saw what I had just done. The creature started to run towards me.
"Shit!" I cursed under my breath and ran around the other way of the tree.
This place was completely blocked and there was just one way out. That alley. The creature jumped in front of me just when I was about to hurry towards the alley. The green coloured saliva started to drip out of its mouth. Eww.
It slithered towards me and hence I slipped from the middle of it's legs since they were tall enough for me to slip through. I easily slipped through and ran towards the alley as fast as possible. This earned me a deafening growl. Gosh, the creature was always too loud.
Just when I was about to turn into the alley my foot got strangled in an overgrown branch of a nearby tree and fell straight on my face but thank goodness, my face fell side wards, hitting my cheek and side jaw hardly which resulted in a ticking sound. No one hated the trees now as much as I did.
The creature pounced on me. I tried to push it off me but it wouldn't even budge a little. I then gave a side martial kick at its abdomen that made the skin to tear up from that part and bones which laid inside could be easily seen. That seen wasn't hard for me to see as I had seen these things several times during the operations. No big deal.
The creature stumbled backwards and during that it scratched my left arm. It was too deep. My blood began to make its way out of my flesh and it hurt. It set my whole arm on fire. Every muscle started to ache instantly and as the blood was rushing out too quickly, my arm soon started to go numb.
Just when the creature was about to jump again with its mouth wide open, it was pulled back. It was that Korean man. He pulled the creature back and hit the creature with a very strong punch on its neck that resulted in the sound of cracking.
I after looking at that punch decided to break my foot out of the strangled prison of the branch but it was stucked too bad. Hence, I didn't had a choice but to pull my foot out roughly, no matter how much flesh would come off during that. I started to pull out my foot. I began to whimper in pain that brought pools of tears to come out of my eyes. My flesh was ripping open and blood came out to such extent that a whole bucket could be filled with that. After a battle with that branch, it came out and I fell on my back with a loud thud.
I, as fast as possible with little energy left, stood on my feet and hastily pulled out my knife from my belt. I lunged on the creature which was about to bury it's knife like sharp teeth in the shoulder of the Korean man. I digged my knife, holding with both of my hands into its back and with my all power pushed the knife downwards, slicing it's back into two. There was no blood coming out, just flesh tearing away leaving bones.
The creature cried and left the hold of the man. After I was done tearing it's flesh into bits, I landed a martial kick on the creature that legit broke it's bones. This was followed by punches by the man on the face of the creature.
Atlast, our efforts bore fruits and the creature fell on the ground with a loud thud. By that time, I and that Korean man, both were left breathless. After bringing our breathing to a normal rate, we both looked at each other at the same time.
There was something strong in his gaze. Then something flashed in his eyes. Maybe it was guilt or sympathy. I couldn't make it out because all at that time I cold comprehend was that my foot up till the part above the ankles and my left arm had completely drawn out the blood from my body.
The world around me started to swirl and I couldn't focus any longer at my surroundings. My body was left energyless and lifeless causing it to collapse. I was ready to hit the ground but I never did. Instead I was secured in tight and strong arms. As my eyes had grew heavy to such extent that I couldn't keep them open for longer, I couldn't check if I was in the arms of that Korean man or what.
The world around me started to melt away leaving me in those warm arms and the last thing that I could hear or remember were few words, "I am sorry but I have to..." until I completely let the deep slumber pull me in.
