61. "Desperate"

Harriet’s Point of View

"Shall I just kill them all? And bring you back with me?"

I didn't answer immediately as my mind racing as I tried to make sense of the situation. Alpha Lucas’s words hinted at a violent past that he was struggling to leave behind.

As I hesitated, Lucas's expression hardened. "I have strength to do so," he explained, his fingers tracing a gentle path over my flushed cheeks. "But for you, I'm trying to control my anger. I don't want to hurt you, even though I'm so damn angry right now. I can't act on my impulses because I'm afraid it will hurt you too much. Not now, not when you don't even remember me."

Despite the fear that coiled in my stomach, I felt a strange sense of trust in Lucas. I had only met him twice before, but there was something about him that made my believe he wouldn't hurt me.

As I looked into his intense gaze, I knew that I was in for a wild ride. But somehow, I couldn't bring myself to regret it.
