66. "Remembering The Stepmother"

Harriet’s Point of View

I had a scary dream.

In my dream, someone was chasing after me.

“No! Leave me alone! I don’t want to follow you again! Don’t control me!” I shouted as I ran as fast as I could until I came before a huge iron door.

The door was wrapped in chains and locked with a lock that had no key.

Desperately, I pounded on it. “Please open this! Open the door for me!”

However, the solid iron would not even budge. My hands were swollen and red as I tried to yank the chain.

Then, abruptly, I heard a voice from the other side of the door.

[“You don’t have the key yet, Harriet.”]

I stiffened. I gasped as I realized that the voice sounded like my own.

[“You have to find the key.”] the voice added.

“Where…” I mumbled. “Where can I find it?”

[“You need to find it before Amelia comes!”]

“Who is Amelia? Who is she?!”

But there was no answer. No matter how many times I asked, the voice continued, [“Amelia will kill him. Amelia will order you to kill him. I will KILL HIM!”]

“Ahh!”
