Synopsis

Jason Trujilo employs Cara Thompson as a worker in his exclusive club in order to pay back the money her father owed. Once she paid off the debt, Jason tells Cara that she is free to go. Six months later, Cara is doing well for herself, until Jason comes crashing back into her life, demanding that she leave with him. Cara refuses to leave her new life, and Jason is hell bent on having Cara under his control. So how will this story end? ------------------------------------------------- SNEAK PEEK: Thirty minutes prior to lunchtime, Cara knocked on Jason's office, and after given permission, she entered the office with a stapled packet. Jason looked at Cara swiftly before focusing back on the blank screen of his laptop. She sat on one of the chairs, and stared at him from behind her glasses, waiting to be acknowledged. A princess she was, but Jason didn't care to be her knight in shining armor. No. He would rather be the villain who trapped her in a tower and punished her for being so innocent and yet spoiled and self-centered and confident.

Chapter 1

Narrator- The tick of the clock hands bounced off the wall of the kindergarten classroom, housing fifteen children, and their two teachers. Crayons colored beyond the lines of their drawing, giggles erupted all over the classroom, as the children completed their final tasks of the day. Cara smiled and lifted her eyes from the folders she was organizing to look out onto the innocent children who found the simplest reasons to smile in this world. Her eyes flashed to the ticking clock and she soon started the mental countdown which led to the ringing of the release bell. Upon hearing the bell, the children cheered and dropped their coloring crayons. They hurried to their personal cubbies to retrieve their backpacks and lunchboxes. "Alright, alright, boys and girls, line up against the wall, Miss Thompson will lead you out. See you guys on Monday." Announced Mrs. Whitey, a short middle aged Caucasian woman with greying red hair, tied in a loose high bun atop her round head. "Have a goo...

Chapter 2
Narrator- Cara sat in the wooden armchair placed in the small hospital room her father currently resided in. On the way to the hospital Joe loss consciousness and had to be revived. In the emergency room, he was stabilized, and the doctor ordered a stat CT scan. Cara entered the ER just as they were taking her father away. She was allowed to go to the imaging bay with her father's caretakers, and after the scan was completed, Joe was instantly admitted to the hospital, in the neurology department. Cara now waited for the doctor to come in with the results with a churn of anxiety arousing the pits of her stomach. Her father was sleeping soundly, meanwhile Cara found her heart beating with unexplainable fear. Cara nipped away at the inner lining of her bottom lip and inner cheeks. Her fingers slick with sweat played with one another, meanwhile her right leg bounced uncontrollably. The image of her father's helpless form continued to play in her mind, and as much as she hated it, she c

Chapter 3
Narrator- Cara watched with numbing horror the events that unfolded before her eyes. The nurses and doctors rushed into the room. One the nurses pulled a lever under the bed, and the entire bed with her father's frame snapped into a 180-degree line. His body pulsed, while a respiratory technician removed the nasal cannula from his nostrils then moved aside to allow the doctor room to intubate the patient. The tube was in, and the tip of Joe's pink tongue now slightly stuck out from below the tube and rested on his lower lip. The respiratory technician retook his place as he began manually bagging the patient. A loud beeping sounded from the monitor, and Cara's eyes snapped to the screen. The heart rate had decreased significantly. "Patient is bradycardic." One of the nurses announced."Push one of epi, let's start CPR.""Ma'am." Cara suddenly heard in her left ear. Cara's head snapped in the direction of the sound, her wide, unblinking eyes registering a short nurse of Asian desce

Chapter 4
Narrator- Cara stared blankly at the person who knocked on her door. Jason looked back with a similar, uninterested gaze. His hands were in his pockets. He wore a simple dress shirt and jeans. His dark hair was gelled and yet fell into it's natural curls and part that hung over his right eyebrow. "Good afternoon." Jason greeted casually. Cara didn't respond. She didn't waste time in figuring out how he knew her home address, he himself said he came by yesterday after her father was taken to the hospital. "Can I come in?" Jason asked, then he reached to his back pocket and pulled out a folded packet of four stapled papers. He waved the folded packet next to his head and added, "I'd like to get down to business as soon as possible." "I just buried my father." Cara said with a croaked tone, though she couldn't ignore the disbelief that exploded in her chest. "And my deepest condolences." Jason replied, placing a hand on his chest. Cara kept her face void of any emotion. If Jason

Chapter 5
Cara- Disbelief. Pure and utter disbelief. That's where my mind was at right now. I looked over at Jason and tried to understand what exactly he believed in, because right now it was hard for me to believe that he had any common sense. From the moment he walked into my dad's hospital room, I knew he was arrogant. The way he carried himself pretty much expressed that he believed the world revolved around him. Because of this sense of entitlement, I can understand why he thinks everyone should kiss the ground he walks on. Too bad I'm not everyone. I flipped the packet back to the first page, and placed the cap back on my pen. I kept my legs crossed, but assumed a casual position of leaning my spine against the backing of the chair for support. Then, placing my intertwined hands on my higher knee, I settled in my seat and waited for Jason to put together the pieces of my defiance. He looked at me as if I caused a sour distaste to fill his mouth. And I smiled internally, thinking goo

Chapter 6
Narrator-Cara rested her head against the dark tinted window, as the black sedan cruised along the expressway. There was a soft jazz tune playing on the radio, but Jason lowered the volume until the sounds of the rolling tires almost drowned out the musical notes. Cara crossed her arms over her chest, and moved her body as far against the door as possible, maximizing the amount of space between herself and Jason. She felt a bit of mucus lodge in her throat, but only proceeded to clear her throat as soft as possible. Upon hearing the sound, Jason chanced a side glance at Cara, then he focused back on the road. Cara closed her eyes when she felt a warm wave of tears coat her large eyeballs. She blinked multiple times, and her wet eyelashes painted thin streaks of salt water to stain the glass of her eyewear.Cara's nose clogged, and she didn't want Jason to hear her cry. So opening her eyes, she looked out the window and tried to focus on the trees that zoomed by her line of sight. Cara

Chapter 7
Narrator- When Cara and Cindy emerged onto the second floor and began heading down the hallway on the right-hand side of the building, one of the first details Cara noticed about the hall was the choice of Décor. The Hallway itself contained five brown doors in total, with two doors on the right side, and three on the left. In between each door was a large space occupied by grand potted natural plants. The Hallway concluded with a large window, adorned with white sheer curtains that looked out over the East side of the habitation. Nonetheless, of all the beautiful arrangements, the wall decorations are what truly captured Cara. The walls beheld various grayscale portraits of men and women in what Cara found to be very exposing outfits and erotic positions. On one picture frame, there was a woman with darkened lips and a lace mask on her eyes. She was seated in a chair, her legs spread apart, her arms bound behind her back. There was a man standing behind her, and though Cara couldn'

Chapter 8
Narrator-Cindy led Cara towards the center of the main entrance, where Cara first entered the mansion. Cindy turned her back on the front doors and faced the stairs. Cara copied her actions, while pushing up her glasses over her nose bridge, with the back of her right index finger."Now we won't have a chance to explore all the rooms today, but standing here, I think we can cover a fair amount of the space." Cindy began.Cara nodded and said, "okay.""Alright, so when you come in, on your right-hand side of the mansion, you'll find the various sitting and living areas. Further down the hall, there's an indoor gym with a sauna room, and home theater. There's also a small library, but I've never been in there." Cindy pointed to the grand hallway branching off to the right."On your left, is the grand dining hall and kitchen. There's also an outdoor dining area on the west side of the mansion that you can access at the end of the hallway." Cindy then turned her attention to the left-hand

Chapter 9
Narrator- The large, almost empty dining room provided the perfect acoustic for the clinking of Cara's silver fork against the white ceramic plate, as she saw to nibbling away the rest of her food. But that alone proved to be a task, for Cara felt sad and found it hard to swallow due to the ball of unshed tears lodged in her throat. Somewhere along the way of burying her father and being taken from her home, Cara found that with every new face she met today, she hoped to see her father's face in one of them. Except she didn't. Joe's face always brought a smile and a sense of comfort to Cara's spirit. Now that comfort was permanently erased. This realization that she would never see her father again, no matter how hard she looked, caused reality to slam back into Cara's being like a rogue volleyball smacking against a human face. Cara sighed and shook her head. The reality of her father's death turned her world upside down. It seemed that her old world died the moment her father's hea

Chapter 10
Narrator- Cara blinked in astonishment and slight concern as she looked at Jason, who stared back with a calm façade, while his hands rested in his pockets. The excitement and adrenaline began to rise in Cara's veins, her heartbeat accelerating beneath the pressure of the tall man's gaze. She tried to appear calm, and silently thanked her melanin tone which hid the heat that caused her face to flush with blood due to the tension in the large hallway. Otherwise, her shame and slight fear would've painted her cheeks crimson red, and her guilt from being caught for breaking a rule would've been as scarlet as the letter A itself. On the other hand, Jason found this situation to irk him to the bone. He knew that Cara was going to be a challenge. She showed her true colors quite early on, but now that she expressed no care for the boundaries he instilled within the walls of his home, he felt that some action would have to be taken. The thought of reprimanding Cara in a way that would get h
