Going to school every morning was something that Jewel looked forward to after every weekend. Blinding from the effects of the sun rays coming from her window,Jewel sighed in bliss as she came down from her bed and twirled around in her bedroom. Monday is a very beautiful day. Its school time! She sighed as she entered her bathroom to wash her face. “Your highness, your father wants to know if you are awake.”

Maria,Jewel’s personal maid said from the door of her bathroom. “If you don’t see me on the bed, what should be your answer to that question,Maria?” She said lightly as she wiped her face with a small towel. Maria bowed her head and walked out of the bathroom. Jewel went straight to her phone and looked at the time. 6:45Am.Is it too early to head to school or should I do something else to keep myself busy? She asked herself and decided to go ahead to do the latter. She picked up a sweeping brush that she always kept behind the door. Jewel Thorne was one half of the twin daughters of the Alpha of the DarkBand pack. Her twin Jana was nothing like her. Born as the second twin and known as ‘The favoured princess’, Jewel was one of those princesses that never really cared about her royal blood, but however acts more like a common person. Jewel whistled as she cleaned her bedroom, and then straightened her bedsheets.

The aroma of Meat sauce hit her nose, and she hurriedly changed out of her sleep wears, into a short and shirt. She packed her hair up and smiled at her reflection in the mirror, satisfied with her humble look. She opened the door and walked out of the bedroom. She hopped happily as she headed to the dining table, where she knew her father,Alpha Marcus would have been already seated. “Morning,Princess Jewel.” Two maids greeted as she hopped and whistled happily down the hallway.Jewel acknowledged their greetings, and continued to hop till she reached the dinning hall. There,Her father, was seated already at the head of the table, holding a newspaper and his focus thoroughly on the newspaper. She smiled widely and ran to hug her father over the chair. “Morning Father.” She said happily and her father dropped the newspaper and held her hands, acknowledging her greetings.

“Good morning,Jewel. Did you sleep well?” He asked after raising her hands to his forehead. “I did. I woke up really energetic this morning dad.” She said as she pulled out a seat from behind the dining table. “Mm. Energetic? You had a good dream?” Dad asked and she chuckled. “I hardly have dreams this days,Father. Well,I just have a feeling that something good is about to happen to me.”She said as she picked a freshly washed apple and bit into it. “Something good. Let’s hope for the best. Have you seen your sister Jana?” Alpha Marcus asked and she shook her head.

“I haven’t set eyes on her since lunch hour yesterday.” She replied and Alpha Marcus took off his reading glasses and sighed. “Why? Is anything the matter?” She asked, sitting up,and worried with look of tiredness that rested on her father’s face. “Jewel, can’t you help mould your sister into being like you? Jana was accused of stealing money from the pack’s treasury to go to Lord knows where, with three of her friends.” Her father said and Jewel frowned. “The pack’s treasury? Why on earth would she do that?” Jewel said and folded her hands in anger. No mater what you told Jana,or how you scold her,Jana never listens. “Jana never listens to me. That’s the problem.

She makes me feel like I’m too righteous, and she always tells me how being too good doesn’t let a person have fun.I always tried to overlook her excesses, but stealing from the pack’s treasury? That’s way too much.” Jewel said and stood up from the dining, ready to go find her twin sister in her bedroom, when they suddenly heard a crash in the hallway. “What in the world was that noise?” Alpha Marcus said and exchanged alarmed looks with his Daughter. Jewel wondered if they were being burgled, and both of them walked briskly to the hallway.

One would think that with Jewel’s delicate looks, she would be a wimpy fearful princess, however that was not the case. For Jewel, protecting herself, her sister and the pack had always been a duty that she had ever been willing to engage herself in,so when the time came to learn swordsmanship and archery skills,She excelled in it. Alpha Marcus and Jewel arrived at the hallway, only to meet Jana on the floor, and a broken window among the windows in the hallway. Jana’s leg had a minor cut,but it was bringing out a lot of blood.

Some maids had gathered in the hallway to see what was happening, and gasped at the sight of one of the twin princesses, seated on the floor with a cut on one of her legs.Jewel sighed at the understanding of what had just happened.Jana being a social butterfly, had probably slept out with some o her friends after a crazy club nigh out,and tried to sneak back into the palace to avoid unnecessary suspicions.

Alpha Marcus glared at Jana angrily, and Jana gulped. She knew that she was in deep trouble with her father, and looked away. Her two goody butt sister, and she’d have to bear the pain of being compared to Jewel again. She sighed and staggered up. “Mind to tell me where you are coming from,Young lady? Palace rules. Nobody sleeps outside the palace, especially the Princesses. Why do you keep flouting my instructions,Jana?” Alpha Marcus thundered angrily, caring less about the cut that sat on his daughter’s leg.

He was tired of this child of his that always went against his instructions. Jana sighed angrily and faced her father.”Does that really matter to you?  You do not care about my injured leg,you only care about why I went ahead your instructions.” She said. “Yes that is what I care about. Why do you always go against the laid own rules? You always want to embarrass me every chance you have Why can’t you be like your sister,Jewel for once. You totally forgot that today was Monday, and then you decided to sleep out of the house, because what? You have grown up so much that you decide to now out-rightly disobey me?  Yesterday,I was called for an emergency meeting. It had to do with the theft of money from the pack’s treasury.”

Alpha Marcus said and Jana’s heart began to thump. She knew where this was going.  Dear God,how did he find out that I was the one. I wore a mask. She thought frantically. Jewel watched her sister’s body language that it was one mixed with fear and worry. She sighed and folded her hands. Her father had reached his limit with Jana, and frankly speaking, everyone could understand him. Jana had done a lot of things, and had constantly put the royal family to shame. One time when they had the annual Moon goddess festival,Jana got drunk and hit one of the elders. Father had to apologise so many times,to avoid her being thrown into the dungeon. Another time,Jana was reported for bullying and Father also had to make a donation and another sincere apology. Many times,Jana had done so many wrong things, but this particular incident was the icing on the cake. She couldn’t rescue Jana from this one.

“We decided to do an investigation using the CCTV camera, and guess who I saw on the camera. You,Jana Thorne. You. I have never stopped you from doing as you so pleased. All I ever asked of you was that you brig me good grades at the end of the term at least once,Just like Jewel your sister. All I asked is you do not bring shame o the royal family,to your late mother and to me. All I asked is that you follow the laid down rules made for your own safety. How hard can that be,Jana? How hard. Now you have broken one of the windows in the palace, just because you wanted to cover up your sneaky night out. What exactly is your problem” Alpha Marcus said tiredly. “Must you always compare me to Jewel?Jewel lives her life, and I live mine. That she and I were born together, doesn’t mean that she and I would act alike.” Jana said, spitting her statements with Venom and Jewel sighed. Jewel knew that her sister resented her so much, even though she couldn’t tell the reason. She wondered what she had ever done to receive so much resentment from one person, hat she loved and respected so much. All Jewel ever wanted was for her sister to love her,but instead Jana never filed to say to her face how she hated her. Jewel sighed again,as her father looked at Jana. “From here on out,Jana Thorne, you will not leave this palace walls except to school. Do you understand me?” He said and Jana didn’t say anything. She glared at her father and then at her sister walked out of the hallway and entered into her room. “I’ll go talk to her,Dad.Leave her to me.” Jewel said and beckoned on a maid. She asked her to bring her the First aid box,as  she was going to treat Jana’s wound, even though she knew that she was the last person Jana wanted to set her eyes on. The maid brought the first aid box,and with that Jewel set off for Jana’s room. Whatever it is that Jana feels,I don’t care. I have to give her a piece of my mind before she gets worse.Jewel thought to herself as she braced herself and then she knocked on the bedroom door.

How is it my fault that she turned out to be a mischievous child. Gosh. I’m so mad right now. She thought to herself as she reached the dining hall. She didn’t see her father seated, but realised that he had eaten his breakfast. She sighed and helped the maid to clear her father’s plates from the table. She entered into the kitchen and scooped some meat sauce into her a bowl, and scooped some rice into a flat plate. She arranged both plates in a tray and took it out to the dining. She sat on the dining table and started to eat. She wondered in sadness what she could do to make Jana understand that she wasn’t in any competition with her. She sighed again and focused on her food. She finished eating and gulped down a cup of orange Juice, and then took the empty plates and cup to the kitchen. And washed the dishes herself,

When the bell rang for closing period,Jewel picked her bag and tarted to walk out of the school to the park where she had parked her motorbike. “Can I offer you a ride home?” She heard Asher say and she turned around to see him standing at the top of the stairs with his hand in his pocket. “No thank you. That’s my motorbike parked over there.”” She said and smiled and motioned for him to see her Motorbike parked. He smiled and nodded and ran the stairs and stood in front of her. He bent to her face level, and that made her shift back awkwardly till she almost tripped, when she felt him grip her by the waist.
