Chapter 4: Finding a mate

When the bell rang for closing period,Jewel picked her bag and tarted to walk out of the school to the park where she had parked her motorbike. “Can I offer you a ride home?” She heard Asher say and she turned around to see him standing at the top of the stairs with his hand in his pocket. “No thank you. That’s my motorbike parked over there.”” She said and smiled and motioned for him to see her Motorbike parked.He smiled and nodded and ran the stairs and stood in front of her. He bent to her face level,and that made her shift back awkwardly till she almost tripped,when she felt him grip her by the waist.

   Her body leaned into his body and she blinked her eyes hard,her cheeks redden due to the embarrassment. I looked around and noticed that people’s eyes was already on them both. She released herself from his grip and stood straight and cleared her throat. “That would have been a nasty fall,ma’am.” He said and she straightened her skirt and held her bag tightly. “Thank you for holding me.” She said quietly and looked away from his gaze. Asher chuckled at her shyness and brought out his phone and handed it to her. “Well,to repay me,how about you give me your phone number,and I’d give you a call.” He said. She nodded and typed in the number into his phone. She handed him the phone and hurriedly walked down the stairs.

 “Don’t trip and fall! I’ll give you a call!” He yelled loudly as he waved and smiled and went to where his own car. Jewel boarded her bike and drove out of the school’s compound.

Jewel arrived at the palace.  Se parked her car in the garage and entered the Palace.  “Dad,I’m home!” She yelled and waited for a response thinking he’d be in the dining room having his lunch. “4:!2pm” She said aloud,and wondered where he was and started to head towards his study.  She walked and then she saw Maria.

  “Maria,where is my Father?” She asked and Maria bowed her head to answer. ”He had an urgent meeting to attend to with the council members,so he left for it.” She answered. “Without having Lunch?” Jewel asked back and Maria shook her head. “Oh okay.” She said and started to walk away. “But Maria,haven’t I told you to not bow your head when you are talking to me. You are older than I am. Talk tome comfortably.” Jewel said with a smile and walked to her bedroom.  She entered her bedroom and closed the door and started to change into comfortable clothes. Oh I forgot totally to ask If Jana had breakfast or if she had even had lunch. I wonder if she ha even take care of her injury. Could she still be mad? Jewel asked herself as she changed into comfortable clothes. She plugged her phone and arranged her boots in shoe rack.

  She picked her clothes and went to wash her clothes in the laundry room. She was going out to hang them on a dryer in the garden when she heard Jana’s voice. “Well,well Jewel. You have finally decided to come out of your pretentious shell,aye?” Jewel turned and saw her sister smirking at her and wondered what she was talking about. “What are you yabbing about now,Jana?” She asked her sister after rolling her eyes. “Who is this boy holding you in a scandalous position. What would dad say when he sees his precious righteous little angel in a scandalous picture with her fellow student.” Jana said and showed her a picture of Asher holding her waist. Oh shit! How come I didn’t think about pictures? Jewel asked herself,shutting her eyes in horror. Jana smirked.

  “What would dad say when he sees his precious righteous little angel in a scandalous position with her fellow student.I can imagine it.” Jana said with a wide smirk. She smiled evilly as she saw Jewel shut her eyes. “How did you get that picture?” She asked and Jana smiled again. “Oh this picture? Its quite popular on our class group right now,and then it would get viral and then reach the Blogs. What do you think? Do you remember that lecture you gave me about embarrassment? Seems I should be directing that to you. Besides,who is this boy you have charmed so quickly?I heard he is a new student.” She teased and Jewel rolled her eyes again.

     She was considering whether telling Jana that the boy that held her waist so romantically was her mate,but that would be adding fuel to the fire that already existed between them. Finding a mate was a task at their eighteenth birthday was a task that their father had given them,and telling Jana that she had found her Mate first before her would be destroying Jana’s already deflated ego. “I see no reason to tell you who he is. Besides,I’m not a nun or an abnormal girl,so I can have a crush on a boy.” Jewel said and shrugged and walked out to go hang her clothes on the dryer,leaving Jana standing at the door.  That definitely wasn’t the reaction she had hoped for from Jewel. She didn’t even look bothered at the threat of her being reported to Dad,that Jana had made. Jana didn’t feel comfortable,but decided to shrug the nasty feeling that was building in her gut. Se entered her bedroom. She feel on her bed and decided that she would push her plan to tell her Dad about it. She couldn’t wait to see the look on her father’s face.

   Dinner time came,and both Jana and Jewel came out. Their Dad was seated at the dining table so both girls sat across each other.Jana glared at Jewel,but Jewel didn’t even give her a look. “How was school,Jewel?” Alpha Marcus asked his daughter,after dropping his ipad on the table. “It was okay. We had an English test today,and I’m expecting the results tomorrow.” Jewel said and Jana smirked. “Father,Did you know what Jewel was caught on camera doing today?” Jana asked and looked at Jewel’s face. He didn’t get any reaction,so she went ahead to continue her talk.

    “How would you know what Jewel did at school,Jana? You were not in school today,last I checked.” Marcus said with his eye brows raised. “Pictures. Anyway,our innocent sister and daughter,got caught being in a boys arms.” Jana said and showed the picture to her father. Alpha Marcus collected the phone from Jana and his face contorted into a frown. “Care to explain to me,Jewel Thorne?” He said in anger. Jewel sighed.

   This was what Jana wanted,for her father to flare up and be mad at her. “You know what the rules are,Jewel.I prohibited dating until you are eighteen years old,and you still have four months to go. You are required to be chaste till you find a mate. Jana has already broken this rule,more than I can count,now you my most trusted daughter is doing the same thing?” He asked angrily and banged the table. Jana flinched at the sound of the table being hit,but then she relaxed in her chair. She was loving this. Her Father being so angry and furious at the Righteous Jewel made her feel so good and she sat down to enjoy it.  

   Jewel sighed. “Father,First of all. I am not doing anything unchaste yet.” She said and her dad relaxed a bit. “Plus,I didn’t want to announce this yet,but since Jana has decided to ruin his for me,I might as well go ahead to say it.” Jewel said and stared hard at her twin sister.Jana understood that look and knew that a surprise was coming their way.”The boy in that picture. He is my mate,Dad.” Jewel dropped the bombshell and it was her turn to revel in the shocked look on her sister’s face. Jana sat there transfixed. Mate?! I thought we only get our mates on our eighteenth birthday. How is this possible? Jana thought as her mind scattered in shambles at the revelation her sister had just made… This night wasn’t going as planned at all.  “Mate,Jewel? Already? I’m impressed.” Marcus said happily as he gripped Jewel’s hand.
