“What are you doing here?” Emily said as her expression slid into a frown, alarm bells ringing in her head.
“That’s no way to greet your mother,” Mrs. Henderson said, pushing past Emily. Kayla followed suit, bumping into Emily’s shoulder.
Emily, nursing her shoulder, had no choice but to follow after them.
“I see you have a full house,” Mrs. Henderson commented.
“Michael, meet mom and Sister Kayla.”
Logan walked in to see Julie staring out the window. Michael folded his hands and leaned his back on the bookshelf.Logan walked toward Julie and placed a hand on her shoulder.“Hey, Julie, are you alright?” Logan asked.“Don’t ask me if I am alright and just explain to me, how you can marry the person who crippled me and her family thought they could pay me off,” Julie demanded as she shrugged her shoulder away from his hand.“I am curious too” Michael's eyes tightened at the corner.
After walking round the city for a while, she grew tired, but didn't want to go back to the apartment and face Logan. She remembered she had lost her key in her squabble with Jennifer. And Jennifer still had access to the store. So she called the locksmith.“All done, ma’am,” the locksmith informed Emily as he put his tool back into the toolbox.“Thank you,” Emily said as she handed him some money that was in the wallet Logan handed to her.“Make sure not to lose your keys again.”“I will try my best,” Emily h
“You are late,” Logan said. His voice had a savage edge to it.The light in the living room turned on to reveal Logan sitting on one of the couches with his palm pressed together, glaring at her without blinking.Emily's heart lurched. The tone of his voice made her spine stiffen.“What are you doing brooding in the dark? Is your family not enough to keep you company?” Emily said, mocking him.“Where have you been?” Logan demanded.
Emily walked into the living room, wondering why the house was quiet. She assumed Logan might have gone to work while Julie might have stepped out with Logan or, better yet, was still upstairs asleep. But she was shocked to see Julie in the dinning already having breakfast. She turned to go to her room, But Julie saw her.“Morning, Emily,” Julie greeted in a cool, tempered voice.Emily bit her lip and turned back slowly towards Julie. Pasting a smile on her face “morning, didn’t want to disturb your breakfast”“Oh, you are not
“I think we should build a bigger hotel than the one we have in the city. To commemorate this merger,” Mr. Greg, a staff member suggested.“That would be too risky a project to embark on. Why don’t we focus on what we have right now and improve on it?” Mr. Henderson said, his finger stroking his lips in thought.“I agree with him. Right now we should figure out a way to ensure that the hotel and the airline boost each…” Mr. Miller stopped mid-sentence, distracted by the commotion at the entrance of the boardroom. The door burst open, revealing Logan walking into the room while his bodyguard held the company security at bay. Both Mr. Henderson and Mr.
Emily’s eyebrow furrowed as she paced back and forth. She held her hands to her lips and prayed that everything would be alright with Julie.Just then, Logan joined her in the hall. Worry lined Logan's forehead.“Where is she?” Logan demanded“She is receiving treatment. Just waiting for the doctor to tell us if she is okay.”Logan nodded his head. "What happened?”“Well, she had an allergic reaction to the peanut cookie I gave her,” Emily answered.“Julie would never consciously eat peanut cookies because she knows she is allergic to peanuts.&r
“We will expect the table and chairs by Monday next week, but the clean-up crew will be here tomorrow so we can set up the mixer at the back when they are done. Hopefully, we will be done with fixing up this place before the opening.” Her best friend Jennifer said as she strikes things off the to-do-list. Propping her hands on her hips, she rolled her head between her shoulders to ease the tension.“Hmm… good. Don’t forget to send me the invoice.” Emily replied.Jennifer nodded, satisfied with the progress they were making. She looked at Emily and smiled. “I can’t believe your dad relented about you joining the family business and even gave you a shop.”“I know, right!” Emily said with a wide grin as she paced back and forth. Emily couldn’t believe that she was actually doing this. Especially when her father expected her to join the family hotel business after finishing her degree in business management. But she had always harbored a dream of opening her own bakery with Jennifer. Thi
Emily woke up. Glancing around. Her gaze rested on a metal IV stand with saline bags, and a woman in white trying to connect it to her arm.“Where am I?” Emily frowned.“Oh good, you are awake.” the woman smiled at Emily.“. leave us," a dark masculine voice said .Emily turned towards the voice. He had a hard and handsome face. The nurse turned to leave, but Emily instinctively held the lady's hand.“Don’t worry, you are in good hands,” the lady encouraged her. as she pried her hands from Emily and stepped out.Emily’s face turned white. She tried sitting up and felt pain shooting up her stomach.“Relax, if I wanted to do something vile. I would have done it the night I saved you. But I guess you don’t remember.”“Are you the one that helped me?” Emily said in a shaky voice. He looked at her intently before he answered. “You are lucky I stopped the car. Because I actually thought it was a ploy to rob me. People hardly venture that road at night.”She nodded her head and looked away.
