CHAPTER 14
My heart raced as I watched him approach. I looked around, searching for something I didn't keep, and luckily I sighted a metal pipe lying just a few distances away. I smirked, and his eyes widened; I knew he might be wondering why I was chuckling even though I knew I was in a deep mess. "Stay back! Don't you dare come close!" I yelled but only got a smirk in response. "You haven't learned your lesson, have you?" He grabbed my hands, pinning them to the floor with one of his hands in a way that caged me underneath him. Then he used his second hand to caress my breasts. Don't tell me he plans on making out with me on the floor. No! Not when I still feel a lot of pain down there. Fortunately, he had brought us closer to the metal when he was grabbing me, so I could easily access it. As he lowered his mouth to my breasts, I quickly grabbed the metal pipe, hitting him hard on the head with everything I've got. He whimpered in pain as he fell beside me, holding onto his bleeding head. I quickly got on my feet, dashing into the bathroom. He stood up, coming after me, but I was faster. I quickly banged the door on him. I heard him grunt in frustration as I sat tiredly on the bare floor in the bathroom. I allowed my tears to fall freely as I continued sobbing like a baby. The constant calling from outside woke me from my slumber; I realized I had fallen asleep in the bathroom. "Open the door, are you there, ma'am? Are you okay?" I heard the maid's voice from outside. Ready to accept what happened next, I opened the door and walked out. "Where's the alpha?" I asked, looking around. "The alpha? Aren't you aware? He left this morning and is yet to return." I sighed in relief; at least I was free, not entirely, at least. My stomach made a funny sound. It was then I realized I hadn't eaten anything since morning. "Ma'am, I brought you food. The beta asked me to," she continued. "The beta? He asked you to bring me food?" She nodded positively, smiling. "Do you have any idea of where the Alpha went to?" She narrowed her brow as if I had committed an offense by asking. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but no one is allowed to discuss the Alpha's whereabouts, but from my suspicions, he went to the hospital," she lowered her voice as she said the last part. "How did you know that?" She chuckled. "Enough questions, ma'am; just dress up and eat your food. If you don't mind, I will take my leave now. I'll come back in an hour to pack the plates." She didn't give me any chance to ask any further questions; she just walked out, leaving me to ponder. Darien's POV I walked into the crowded market, running after the man I saw earlier; I could swear the person I saw was my dad. I have been following him for the past thirty minutes. After I left the hospital, I went to visit an old friend who lived on the outskirts of the city. After we discussed it, he took me to his new castle, the reason I came. As he led me out of his house to where I parked my car, I noticed an old man coming in our direction, but immediately he saw me, he turned and began walking away. Even if I were blind, I would recognize him anywhere, anytime. I still had my doubts until he turned again, looking at me, giving me the perfect opportunity to see his face. I quickly rushed after him. It's been thirty minutes now, and I'm still after him. No matter how hard I tried to catch up with him, he never gave me the chance to. Finally, I caught up with him, though he was still backing me. He pushes an older lady down and helps her up. "Dad?" I tapped him. "Do I know you?" He turned, glaring at me. My jaw dropped in disappointment. He's no longer the man I saw earlier. I must have missed him. I spat in anger, knowing I had been following the wrong guy all this while. "I'm sorry; I mistook you for someone else. I'm sorry," I apologized. Though I felt bad he didn't recognize me, he was supposed to tremble before me. On a normal occasion, I would show off, yell at him, or even get him killed for glaring at me, but I have a more pressing concern to attend to. "Be more careful next time. You are too young to be having eye issues." With that, he left. I clenched my fist in anger; how dare he call me blind? I ruffled my hair in frustration, turning to leave when I saw him smirking at me from afar. At this point, I was fully convinced he was my dad, but how come? Isn't he dead? What is he doing here, and why is he playing hide and seek with me? When I finally regained my senses and tried going after him, I noticed he was gone. He had left already. I turned back in frustration and left. *** It was already late before I arrived at the castle. I ignored the greetings from the guards and the maids. I needed to talk to Wren. I should tell him about my encounter with my dad. I headed toward his room. Wren doesn't live in my castle, but he's been staying here for a week now due to the huge load of work in the castle. I almost knocked on his door when suddenly last night's memory flooded back into my head. He's still very mad at me. Even if he listens to me, he won't say anything meaningful. I restrained myself. I needed someone to vent my frustrations on. The breeder—yes, she's the perfect person to vent my anger on. I smirked mischievously, touching my bandaged head. We still have a score to settle, and now is the perfect time to do it.Chapter 15 Alisha's POV:It's been hours since the maid left; she promised to pick up the plate but hasn't.I slipped into the nightwear I saw in the wardrobe. It fit me so perfectly that I almost thought it was made for me.I climbed into bed, forcefully closing my eyes, but no matter how hard I tried, sleep refused to come, so I jumped out of bed and decided to walk around the castle since I'd barely gone anywhere since I arrived. To be sincere, I wasn't doing it because I wanted to. I was scared the devil would come back looking for me; I knew he would surely pay me back for planking his head.As I walked along the corridor that leads out of the castle, I heard his voice; he was talking to a guard. Without a second thought, I pushed the door beside me, barging in regardless of not knowing what was inside.Immediately I turned, what I saw next forced me to shout in horror. An aged woman was seated dejectedly on the floor, saying some strange words. What caught my eye was the human
Chapter 16Alisha's POV;Next morning:I followed the maid like a lost sheep as she led me along the big corridor leading to the kitchen. The old lady from last night had given me a substance to put in Darien's food. She told me his mind would soften towards me if he consumed the substance, though she didn't specifically tell me to put it in his food. I just concluded that if I put it in his food, it would be more effective. After taking my brush this morning, I heard a faint knock on the door. It turned out to be the maid who brought me food yesterday; she told me she was busy yesterday, which was why she didn't show up. Then I asked her to take me to the kitchen. At first, I thought she'd object to it, but to my greatest surprise, she agreed without delay.I followed her into the kitchen, ignoring the murmurs from the maids."What is the breeder doing here? Isn't she supposed to be in the Alpha's chamber warming his bed? Who brought her here?" I turned to see a maid who looked like
Chapter 17"Where were you last night?" My heart skipped."I... I..." I shuddered, running out of speech. His gaze darkened as he glared at me. His eyes filled with hate and deceit."You should know by now that I don't like repeating myself! Answer me before I lose my cool!" He yelled in an angry tone."I didn't go anywhere. I was inside sleeping. Why do you ask?" A slap followed, sending me to the floor. I tried standing on my feet, but the weight of the slap sent me back to the floor."You dare talk back to me? I see you've grown wings." He grabbed me by my hair, throwing me onto the bed. I hit my head on the bed stand, causing me to bleed. I'd expected him to stop and pay attention to my bleeding head, but he went further to undress. My mind raced as I watched him undress completely. I was losing a lot of blood already. My blood stained the bed sheet, but that didn't seem to be his concern. "Please, my head hurts," I pleaded, hoping he'd pity me, but he only chuckled."That's none
Chapter 18"And where do you think you are going?" I froze, turning back to look at who it was.I was shocked to see Alpha's beta. I had expected him to start yelling at me or something, but he remained calm."I... I..." I tried explaining. He walked towards me, smiling. "It's okay, I won't tell anyone I saw you leave." He patted my shoulder gently.Having him say that kind of gladdened my heart, but how sure am I that he won't play games with me?"Why are you doing this?" I asked slowly, and he chuckled."I'm not doing this because I want to. But I'm doing this to free my conscience from guilt. You know I was the one who suggested the Alpha take you in place of his money; he never consented to it. The truth is I forced him into this, and that's why you are going through all this. It's high time I right the wrong," he explained. So bringing me here was all his plan; no wonder the Alpha treated me like nothing."Thank you. I'm so grateful for this. I will surely repay your favor one da
Chapter 19My mind drifted to Wren. I still don't want to believe he actually betrayed me. No! Wren would never betray me. Never."Quickly go fetch me the beta!" I told the maid, who rushed out immediately.Shortly, Wren walked in wearing a sad expression as usual."Why did you do it, Wren? Why did you betray me?" I could see his expression flicker, but that didn't stop him from chuckling."What do you mean by that?" he asked, pissed by my question."Don't try to play dumb with me, Wren. Why did you let her go?" He glared at me, obviously getting annoyed with my questions, but I wasn't buying any of that. She didn't just escape; someone who knows the castle well enough helped her escape."I don't understand what you mean, Alpha. What have I done this time around?" Is he in the position to ask me that? "Where did you keep her, Wren? Where did you hide the fucking breeder!?" He ruffled his hair tiredly."Are you accusing me of having anything to do with your slave? The last time I chec
Chapter 20Five years laterWriter's POVAn aged woman could be seen seated elegantly in the dimly lit room, a smirk playing on her lips as she watched the young men approach."Thought you'd completely forgotten about me. I'm kinda shocked seeing you here today," she mocked."Don't start, Mom. We both know how busy I've been these days," Henry replied, giggling."Don't give me that story, Henry. We both know that's not the reason you no longer have time for me!" The old lady batted her lids repeatedly like she might break down."Why are you always fond of making fun of me? You better stop it 'cause it won't work on me this time!" Henry ruffled his hair in frustration."Tell me, why are you still keeping the baby despite knowing he's your brother's child? He's your enemy, you fool!" Henry chuckled."Mom, I love Alisha, and I'm willing to do anything for her!" The old lady clenched her fists in anger."Sometimes I wonder if I was the one who gave birth to you! That dude is your brother'
Chapter 21Writer's POVMr. Alex walked in looking frustrated. His life hasn't been easy since Alisha left; doing the house chores, like cooking and washing, hasn't been easy. Three years ago, he remarried, hoping to get relief from the workload, but things didn't go as expected. At first, the woman tolerated his nonchalant behavior. But at some point, she got pissed off. She's the one doing everything since Mr. Alex is the lazy type. She got tired and left, and since then, he's been single until recently. He got himself another wife. The previous one turned out to be better than the current one, and he's regretting it."And where do you think you are going?" The middle-aged woman blocked his path, preventing him from entering the kitchen."What's the meaning of this nonsense? You better behave yourself, woman! Don't get on my nerves!" He tried pushing her out, but she stood her ground."And what the hell do you think you want to do in the kitchen? Wait? Do you want to go and eat? Oh
Chapter 22"You again? What are you doing here?" Mr. Alex yelled, pointing a finger at me."How dare you yell at the alpha? I'm sorry, my lord, he forced his way in here claiming he's your father-in-law. Please forgive me," the guard in charge of the gate pleaded."It's okay, you can let him in," I turned to face Mr. Alex. "Come in," but he scoffed."Come inside? To do what? Not after what you did to me the other day. You nearly caused me a panic attack! You kept following me like you'd seen me before. Forget about what I came here for. I should get going now," he started walking away.I felt bad hearing him say those words. My father couldn't even recognize me. I'm not wondering why the guards couldn't recognize him. I changed the previous guards because they were all working for my brother."Wait!" I ordered. He slowly turned, his leg shaking. It was obvious he was scared, but why? How come he no longer recognized me? "What do you want?" he asked angrily."Please follow me inside, I
Chapter 26"Do I look like my husband's keeper? Didn't you book an appointment with him before coming? If you know him so well you should have known that he's barely home by this time of the day!" Her voice sounded angry."Calm down ma'am. I only asked a question" I shunned her. There's no way anyone would lie that she doesn't know am the alpha. She's only choosing to be disrespectful to me. But I wasn't gonna take it from her. For the fact that she's replacing my mom, I hated her already."Being the alpha doesn't give you the right to just knock on my door and tell me nonsense. Leave if I am!" She snapped, making me wonder if she was truly okay."Tell him I came looking for him" She hissed. I've never been this tolerant before. But since the breeder left I've noticed I'm no longer as mean as I used to be."If he's of great importance to you then come back and check on him. Don't stress me" she bangs the door in my face. Why's today being mean? Or is this the way the moon goddess has
Chapter 25 All attention turned to the boy's mother. She bent her face in embarrassment. Who would have thought that her four-year-old kid was eavesdropping on her late conversation with her husband?"Selena! What have you done?" Elena yelled in anger.Selena, the boy's mother, went to her knees immediately."I'm so sorry, my lord. I never mentioned those words to him. I swear I didn't know where he heard it from," Selena pleaded.Darien's head remained bent. Not because he didn't know what to do, but because he felt guilty. The child was right to call him a wicked man."It's fine. I don't blame you. I know each and every one of you has your own opinion about this. I know you are all eager to voice it out but dare not. Hearing him say this reminds me of my past mistakes. It's okay, boy. I like your courage. You can still have the gift," he forced the small box into the boy's hand and then turned to face Wren."You should have told me this was your plan? Bringing me here for your kid
Chapter 24 Three hours laterI was done with the maid, and she was now sitting at the edge of the bed, panting like a lizard. She didn't faint like the rest, but it was obvious she was exhausted. The next time, she'll surely think twice before thinking of seducing me."Why are you still here? Get up and get out!" I snapped. Seeing her pants only increased my anger and frustration; I wasn't satisfied.I wouldn't have stopped, but she was screaming so hard that she nearly echoed throughout the entire building.I know she's pained she'll get nothing after enduring all the torture she went through. She must have been very stupid to have thought I would give her the chance to carry my unborn child. Joker. She attempted to get up but ended up falling back onto the bed."I'm sorry, my lord, but I can't move my legs; I can't even close them," she shamelessly muttered. She's wrong to have thought I cared or that I would pity her."And how's that my business? You brought yourself in here, reme
Chapter 23 "Mom, is it true that he's not my dad?" My eyes widened as I looked down to see Daniel standing behind me, his face covered with tears."No, dear. Dad didn't say that. You might have heard wrongly." Henry cupped him in his arms, smiling widely."But I heard you telling Mom that you've been taking care of us. I'm sure that's what I heard," Daniel insisted."You didn't hear right, Daniel. And what were you doing here? How many times have I warned you not to eavesdrop on people's conversations?" I scolded him. I shouldn't give him any chance to suspect anything. I would never let him know about his father."I'm sorry, Mom," he climbed down from Henry's arms."I'm so sorry, Mom. I didn't mean to. I was coming to show you my assignment when I heard Daddy's voice, so I decided to stand by the door and listen to your conversation. Please, Mommy, don't get mad at me," he began crying, getting me more and more confused.I was happy seeing him this way. At least he's not as hard-hea
