My First Day in London.

My first day in London was cold enough to be forgotten. The weather was horrible, and my legs were shaking like a pair of noodles. Things in London are so different from my hometown. Everyone is from top to bottom and no one stays still, while there are so many lights around the city, that sometimes I am blinded by them. Before this change in my life, I lived in a town called Bunbury, a town where nothing at all ever happens. So I was very lucky to be sent to cold London.

My arrival in this city which seems like a dream was somewhat sad. I didn't have anyone to pick me up from the bus station, but despite being alone, I'm still happy to be in this city and to be able to work in one of the biggest hospitals in London.

But despite having good luck, I realized how difficult it is to take a taxi in this city, because it was crazy, maybe because everyone works and is always busy. I paid £3.5 to stay in a crappy hotel, and even though the hotel room wasn't that expensive, I was immediately out of money.

The hotel was macabre, so I had to sleep in a bed that smelled of humidity, while all night I was hugging my purse tightly, while I had my shoes on, to run if something bad happened.

Luckily nothing happened. The next morning I woke up in a better mood. It's snowing outside, so I bundle up while already wearing my old school uniform. I was so lucky to be one of those chosen to come to London. Although I have to be honest, I was not the best student of my generation, nor was I the most outstanding where I did my service. I was just another student with average grades, but I am very passionate and committed, I would give my best.

My whole life was based on optimism, so I had to do it right.

I didn't have any breakfast in the morning due to lack of money, so I knew I would have to wait until they gave me my payment to be able to try a bite.

After hearing my stomach growl more than once, I headed to the London subway, which was also a crazy in the morning as everyone was going to work. I had to arrive at seven in the morning, not a minute earlier, not a minute later, so I was a little stressed when I saw that the subway was full.

And when I finally arrived at the hospital, all my expectations came true. It was the best hospital in London, everything was luxurious and the technology was quite impressive. As expected, the emergency room was full of sick flu patients, since the weather here is bitterly cold.

From a distance, I can see a woman with dark circles under her eyes, who is working at her reception, so I immediately approach her.

"Hello, I'm Victoria Jefferson." I leaned against the wooden bar at the reception, while the woman seemed to be dying of exhaustion. — I'm looking for Nurse Ross. —I said with encouragement, reading a paper with the instructions they gave me over the phone before arriving in London.

"On the next floor." Mutters the bad-tempered woman, while she is chewing a piece of gum, which keeps her awake. Then she just points her long fingers to the elevator. "Second floor"

"Thank you" I answered gratefully, taking my bag and walking towards the elevator. And when I got on the elevator, I began to feel happy since I had already arrived at my new life. I was full of hopes and dreams that I wanted to realize in this new life, which I have decided to take. But at the same time, I also felt nostalgic about leaving my life behind, including my family and friends.

When I reach the second floor, the elevator doors open slowly, letting me see thousands of nurses walking back and forth with small metal carts, where they carry samples and medicines for the patients. Slowly and timidly, I approach the main room, where the nurses rest, while I try to look for Ross, even without knowing what she looks like.

"Excuse me, am I looking for Ross? " I asked from the rooftops, but no one answered my question. Then I realize that a blonde and blue-eyed girl is passing by in front of me, while she looks less hurried than the other nurses.

"Excuse me...?" I caught her attention and she looked at me immediately.

"Yes?" She answered me while her blue eyes were so warm and picturesque that she didn't hesitate to smile.

"I'm looking for Nurse Ross." Now I smile because I'm comfortable with her attitude.

"It's me." She smiles at me carefreely, while I receive the first smile from me arriving in London. "You must be the new intern, Victoria?" She asks me as she smiles kindly, remembering my name.

"Yes, it's me." I responded immediately, while she smiled knowing that my name was already taken into account in this hospital.

"Good." She takes a list and looks at it for a few seconds. "Your boss hasn't arrived yet, so I'll take you as my assistant. Can you take blood samples from rooms 304 and 305? We have time counted." She checks my uniform, while she is talking to me. "Good presentation, I wish you luck." She tells me with a smile as she gives me some papers, assuming that I would have to do those tasks for her.

"Thank you." I answered gratefully, moving clumsily, but she stopped me before I went flying through the hospital corridors.

"Your car." She points out the metal cart with samples. So I clumsily took my car, while she laughed at my nerves.

After arranging the catheter of the patient in room 305 and taking a blood test, I walk to room 304. Already there, I find a girl of around ten years old, lying on the bed watching television.

"Hello" I caught the girl's attention when I entered. "I'm Victoria and I'm going to be your nurse" I introduced myself formally since that's what you always have to do when entering a room. "I'll take a blood sample from you." She just stretches her arm without concern, while continuing to watch television very attentively.

For my part, I prepared the instruments and then disinfected her arm with alcohol. "It will hurt a little." I warned her while I knew in advance that most patients get nervous when they see a needle, but she was very calm. I can immediately see that she has quite a few bruises, I guess she has been hospitalized for a long time.

I slowly put a rubber band around his arm, and then tap him a few times in the area of his forearm where the cephalic vein is. While I tap the vein becomes inflamed and gives me good visibility.

I took my needle in hand and slowly inserted it into his arm. Then I squeeze it a little, but I immediately notice that no blood comes out.

Worried, I moved her more than once, causing the girl to instantly be in pain.

"Take out the needle!" She yells at me loudly, while I'm panicking. "Get her out, you fool!" She yells at me once again. I immediately pulled out the needle, fearing for my life.

Afterward, I give her a cotton swab with alcohol so that her blood stops coming out, she takes it and rubs her arm. "Are you a nurse?" She asked me even when I formally introduced myself to her, a few moments ago.

"Yes." I answered her with fear, since she seems to be tough, even when she looks like an innocent girl.

"It hurt me, silly." Believe it or not, a girl was insulting me like no one else has.

"What's going on here?" I heard a male voice coming from the door. I turn around and see a tall man, with fine features, curly hair, and dressed completely in blue. "Hello Liza." Said the handsome man, greeting the little girl, while I looked at the ground sadly.

"Harry!" The girl expresses kindness and sweetness with the young man. I just frown, looking into his bright eyes. Why couldn't she receive me like this?

"What's going on here?" He asked when he saw Liza angry, but I knew that I was the one who had to answer.

"Nothing." It wasn't my best answer, but the girl disagreed with me.

"She stung me and she didn't hit the vein. Im sore." She says looking helpless, although I knew she could defend herself from others.

"I'm sorry." I lowered my gaze while I felt very sorry. Then slowly, I look up and I can see that the man is staring at me, with those big green eyes.

"You must be the intern, Victoria Jefferson." I look at him with a smile, since he knows my name and that is nice.

"Yes." I answered shaking my head and wearing a big smile.

"Liza you should let Nurse Jefferson do her work." He says without further ado, defending me. "Otherwise she won't be able to take the blood tests." He takes the needle and inserts it into her arm, and like magic the blood comes out of her. He fills out the sample book and puts it in my cart.

"Done." He kisses the little girl on the forehead, while she covers her with a white sheet. The dream girl sighs as if she is in love with the young man. I leave the room saddened by what had happened.

"I'm sorry if I bothered you." Now I apologize, while he walks next to me. "It was my job to get the blood out of..." But he doesn't let me continue.

"No, there is no problem." He smiles kindly. "I'm here to help the new inmates"

"Are you a nurse too?" He just makes fun of my question, since I have lowered his level.

"I'm not a nurse, I'm a surgeon." My mouth fell to the ground, and I knew that he could be my boss, so making mistakes didn't give me an advantage over him. My response to that big mistake is that he was wearing a blue uniform, which seemed similar to some nurses' uniforms, with the difference that his name was embroidered on his uniform, along with his specialty.

"How sorry I am, Dr. Steward." I apologize immediately. I read his name on his uniform, while I look at the ground once again, feeling like a complete fool.

"No need to worry darling, you can call me Harry." His red lips stand out in the low light of the place, while his upturned nose makes the difference, making him look even more attractive. "I have to go but tell me if you want me to draw more blood for you." He comments flirtatiously to me, while my stomach fills with butterflies, is he flirting with me?

"Victoria!" I hear my name in the air, so somewhat distracted I turn around and realize that it is Ross who is calling me.

"Your boss has already arrived!" She shouts at me while Dr. Steward disappears from the scene. So he's not my boss? Brilliant! My chest started to rumble more than once, I figured Harry had gotten my attention a lot. So I slowly walk towards Ross, unable to get that handsome surgeon out of my mind.
