Chapter Three
Elodie's P.O.V It was now evident that not only was the moon goddess against me but the whole universe. In the span of a week, I was divorced and thrown out of the pack house and to worsen it, my father passed away in a coma. Everything fell apart for me! My brothers coveted everything that my father had, leaving me with nothing! This was just too much for me and I didn’t deserve half of the pain that I received. I lost everything. My marriage, my position, my inheritance, and most importantly my father. Wiping off my tears with the back of my hands, Doctor Patel flashed me a faint smile as he sat before me. “Elodie, I am sorry for your loss….” I hung my head low in despair and the tears that I had been trying so hard to hide cascaded down my cheeks like a free fall. “You said that he was going to get better, Dr Patel” My voice was barely above a whisper as I clutched my chest. Doctor Patel leaned forward with his forearms on the table. “Believe me Elodie, he was showing signs of recovery. I just don’t know how it happened” Sniffling, I raised my head, locking eyes with him and a faint smile spread across my face. “You know that you raised my hopes high, Doctor Patel. Anyways, you tried your best” He muttered. “I am sorry” Wiping off my tears. “It isn’t your fault. You tried your best, thank you for everything, Dr Patel” He nodded. Biting the corner of my lower lips, confusion began swirling in my mind again. “So, Dr Patel, I think that there is a mistake somewhere…..” “How?” He asked. “I mean, the test results that say that I am pregnant. There is in no way that I am pregnant…..” As long as I could remember, except for the one-night stand with Darius, while we were married, we had never been intimate. So if we have never been intimate while we were married, then how was I even pregnant? Dr Patel smiled, heaving a sigh before he slid another test result to me. “This is the third test result that you have asked for in a week, Elodie, and the results are still the same. You are two weeks pregnant” Walking out of the hospital while clutching the results to my chest, different thoughts coursed through my mind. I stopped in my tracks, staring down at my stomach before averting my gaze back to the test results. It didn’t make any sense! How could I be pregnant when I have……. I froze when a memory flashed through my head. Staying rooted in the same spot, the memories occupied my thoughts, rushing through my head like a flood. Just a month ago, Darius had thrown a party which I was forced to attend against my will since I was the Luna and it was my duty to stick by his side. We both got drunk at the party and somehow, we had sex. As the realization dawned on me, I staggered backwards, almost losing balance as my hands flew over my mouth. “No!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. There was in no way that I was pregnant for that monster. Why was the moon goddess doing this to me? I would rather die than birth Darius’s child! This was a nightmare. In frustration, I tore the results, the sound of rippling papers piercing through the air. Without thinking twice, I got into my car, driving to nowhere as different thoughts swirled in my mind. At that moment, the death of my father began to weigh in on me and before I knew it, I broke down in tears. Each breath was a struggle, suffocating me as tears clouded my eyes. With every passing second, it felt like thousands of needles pierced into my heart. Lowering my head as my fingers trembled against the steering wheel, I raised my head but it was too late because in the blink of an eye, I lost control of the car. The screech of tires against the asphalt echoed through the air as my car careened off the road. All of a sudden, the sound of shattered glasses, and twisted metals filled the air as I crashed onto the railing around the bridge. For a moment, everything went still and I felt a sharp pain in my head. With trembling hands, I fumbled with the car's locks, pushing the door open. I drew a ragged breath, staggering towards the edge of the bridge. “It all ends here” A smile that faltered crossed my face, staring at the ocean that loomed below the bridge. Images of my son and my father flashed through my head. “I am coming to meet you, my dear son……” I muttered under my breath. I couldn’t even think straight and the only thing I wanted was to end all my pain. Squeezing my eyes shut, and bracing myself as I got ready to jump into the ocean, a voice that caused the hair on my body to stand to the very end, echoed through the place. With fear gnawing at me, I turned my head in the direction where the voice emanated. A man dressed in a black coat with his hands slipped down his pockets and stood behind me. Darting my eyes to his face, my eyes almost bulged out of its sockets. With a chiseled jawline that accentuated his features, it soon hit me that I knew this face. Staring intently at him, my eyes soon widened in disbelief as my hands flew over my mouth in shock. He was the rogue king— The same king who made life a living hell for Darius by trying to take the pack from him so many times. “Marcel” But, he was declared dead years ago. “Yeah, Marcel” His voice caused chills to run down my spine as I stared at him in disbelief. “Are you just going to end things? What about the vow that you made to Darius about making him grovel at your feet for mercy” Wait! How does he even know? “You know nothing about me” I screamed at him. Tilting his head to the left, he said. “Of course I know you more than you even know yourself. Right now, you carrying Darius’s child!” I froze. How does he know something that Darius doesn’t even know? Taking the full weight of my gaze. “Shouldn’t the people who put you in this position pay for all their sins?” I was stunned into silence. Then he stretched his hands to me. “Take my hands now, Elodie if you really want to make Darius grovel at your feet” “What exactly are you going to do, Marcel?” He stepped forward, his eyes piercing into mine. “Break him!”Chapter Four Darius’s P.O.VAfter Eight Years Exchanging pleasantries with the other Alphas, a bright smile formed on my face as Alpha Damian complimented me. “Very soon, your daughter Amelia will become the top gymnast in the country. Not only is she smart for her age but she is so talented”A smile that depicted my pride crossed my face and I clinked glasses with him. “She takes after me and that is why she is so smart. I was really proud when she came home with a gold medal. She is just seven, yet she makes me so proud”Amelia, my beloved daughter. She was the evidence of the love that I shared with my mate, Susan. Amelia was the child that I had always wanted— Smart, competent, and talented.Alpha Liam, the Alpha of the Blood Moon pack snapped me out of my reverie as he fixed his gaze on me. “The auction would be starting in the next twenty minutes. I hope that you are prepared, Alpha Darius”Forcing out a smile, I moved closer to him, placing a hand on his shoulder while star
Elodie’s P.O.VMy upper lips curled into a smug smile and while some stared at me in shock, others gaped at me in awe but most importantly, they kept staring at Marcel whom everyone thought was dead. I heard Susan gasp from where she sat and honestly, I didn't care because this was the beginning of their misery. I was just getting started. As soon as the auctioneer ruled the land in my name, I stood up, perching my sunglasses while Marcel rose and when he stood up, gasps and murmurs echoed through the entire place.Despite their shock, no one dared to say anything to him nor did they even attempt to lock eyes with him because, in the end, he was the Rogue King, the same person who had terrorized Darius’s pack. Turning to look at Marcel, the frown on his face vanished, replaced by a bright smile as he tucked the strand of hair that fell on my face behind my ear. Marcel said. “You did well, Elodie. I am proud of you”Amidst the palpable tension in the hall, their whispers and murmur
Marcel’s P.O.VThe glint of uncertainty and fear that was in his eyes, flashed through my head and most importantly, all the negative things that were being spoken about him. I was snapped out of my reverie when Elodie leaned over, her eyes brightening as she grinned. “Marcel, be honest with me. Do you think that I did well?”As a smile crossed my face, I nodded. “You did exceedingly well. What we need to do now is focus on the next course of action”“I hope that you are ready,”She bobbed her head and when she turned her eyes away from me, this emptiness surged inside of me. Being around Elodie did things that I never understood and around her, I felt things that I had never experienced. What was that feeling and most importantly, why would my wolf always react excitedly whenever he was around her? To Elodie, we were just business partners who had just one goal and the goal was to bring Darius down. However, would I be able to keep up with the business partner's act around her beca
Darius’s P.O.VDifferent thoughts about Elodie and the triplets plagued my mind while I steepled my fingers, glancing back and forth between the pictures of the triplets and my childhood picture. The more I stared, the more my brows furrowed in confusion. Those kids looked like me! Was I delusional because Susan claimed that she didn’t see the resemblance but staring at the picture that was taken of them at the event, the only thing that I saw was myself whenever I stared into their eyes? I was confused and didn’t even know what to do. Could there be a high chance that they were mine? Was she pregnant before we divorced? As far as I could recollect, Elodie and I had sex once so it wasn’t possible. At that moment, the door swung open and Susan walked inside, dressed in a cream satin gown while her hair tumbled over her shoulders. The smile on her face faltered when her gaze fell on the pictures that were carefully arranged on the desk. Trying to hide the pictures, she exhaled sharp
Elodie’s P.O.VTaking a final look at the huge gymnastics center, I crouched before Sage, cupping his face. “Here we are Sage, promise me that you will be a good boy and not cause trouble. You would listen to your coach and do as she says if you want to participate in the forthcoming children’s competition”Sage responded. “I have always been a good boy”“I know……I am just saying this as your mum. You have always wanted to participate in the competition and this is the chance for you to seize your dreams”Sage nodded. “Alright, I would do as you…..” Sage had almost completed his words when the sound of stilettos against the hard-marbled floor echoed through the entire place.A scoff filled the air and darting my eyes to whoever it was, my eyes met with that of Susan who had a lopsided smile. Straightening, I urged Sage to go inside while Susan placed her hands on the shoulder of the little girl whom I deciphered to be her daughter. Susan laughed. “I find this funny, Elodie , because
Mae’s P.O.V“No!” Silver said, taking me aback totally and the smile on my face slowly vanished. The urge to slip my fingers through his hair, grab a fistful of it, and pull it off overwhelmed me but what could I do?Forcing out a smile, I asked. “Why?”He said blatantly. “Because you are not my mum”A smile crept at the corner of my lips at that moment even though I was burning in rage. Everything that Elodie had was supposed to be mine, the triplets, and most importantly, Marcel. Clearing my throat, I straightened, swiveling my gaze around the entire closet. “But it wouldn’t be that bad if you address me as your mum or do you still see me as a stranger”“You are my friend,” Silver responded, returning the jewelry. Now that I thought about it, if Marcel and Elodie claimed to be happily married, why did they stay in different rooms? If they loved each other as they claimed, then they should be in the same room. Darting my eyes back to Silver, I asked. “Do your parents fight?”He tu
Elodie’s P.O.VI tilted my head to the left, matching Darius’s gaze as he stared at me dumbfoundedly. He shook his head, squeezing his eyes shut while he muttered under his breath. “No, this can’t be real. What are you doing here, Elodie? Who allowed you inside this place and where is he”With a smile creeping at the corner of my lips, I pointed to the desk nameplate, watching as his eyes widened and he read slowly. “CEO Elodie Martinez Marcel”“That is right and let this be the first and the last time that you would ever address me by name. You should put some respect to my name because you are below me, Darius!”Darius staggered backward and his back almost hit the door as he stared at me incredulously. “How…….is this a dream?”I responded to him blatantly. “This isn’t a dream but it is surely going to be your nightmare. I only have five minutes to spare and you still haven’t answered my question”Darius gulped and while his eyelashes fluttered as his chest heaved slowly, he ran his
Marcel’s P.O.VIn the heart of the courtyard adorned with varieties of flowers, I led Elodie to the dinner table, my hands over her eyes while she chuckled. “I am curious about what you made for you to be this secretive about it”I grinned. “I know. Don’t worry, you will soon find that out”Slowly my hands left her eyes and in a matter of seconds, her lips parted in shock as her hands flew over her mouth. She turned to look at me with those eyes that gleamed ethereally like all the stars gathered inside. I was dazed. How come I had never noticed the beauty that her siren eyes held? “You didn’t have to” She pouted slightly. “I have to” I responded while she sighed before she darted her eyes back to the dinner buffet. She turned to look at me swiftly, giggling while clapping both hands excitedly. “How did you know that I loved seafood? I barely had any in France and you didn’t have any hard time making any of these?”I shrugged, taking her hands while leading her to her seat. “I fo
Epilogue **After One Year** The setting sun cast a golden glow over the ethereal surroundings as the sound of waves crashing in the distance echoed through my ears. My heart pounded against my chest in anxiety despite the excitement that bubbled deep within me. The air hung heavy with anticipation and on exchanging fleeting glances with the triplets who keep taking pictures of me with their cameras, I shot a wink at them. Silas gesticulated before he mouthed. “Daddy, don't overdo the smile. Smile, like this” I did just as he had said while the guests laughed at the silent conversation between Silas and me. I gave Silas a thumbs-up while Silver gave a gentle applause that was almost inaudible. Sage on the other hand sat next to Aunt Nadia, Leah, and Axel who carried both Elysia and Daisy in his arms while Sage made funny faces to them. Staring at the scene before me, I fiddled with my fingers in anticipation, carefully waiting for my bride. “She is here” Someone murmu
Elodie’s P.O.VThe clouds darkened, thunder rumbling through the sky while I stood rooted to the same spot frozen. The rain first started like a gentle patter but in the next minute, the rain enveloped me totally, soaking my clothes as my hair clung to my face. I was too numb to speak. Too shocked to even wrap my head around what had happened. I could barely move my legs but I mustered the courage and dragged my feet towards the railings, staring down at Darius's lifeless body. His blood that soaked the metal spikes was being washed away by the rain that fell heavily. I should be relieved that he was dead…But the more I stared at his lifeless body, the more dread settled at the pit of my stomach and I saw myself on the metal spikes. My breath came in ragged gasps as I gripped the railings and that was when the images of Ezra spurting out blood flashed through my mind. My shoulders sagged and the more I gripped the railings, the more different emotions crashed over me. I crumbled
Elodie’s P.O.VOh my. The necklace looked pretty on me. I trailed my fingers on the necklace and stared at my reflection in the mirror, that was when the reality hit me that Silver wasn’t back with my phone yet. He didn’t know where he dropped his phone tablet and pleaded with me to give him my phone so he could call his dad. “Could he be playing games on my phone?” I muttered to myself, standing up and that was when it dawned on me that even my hair stylist wasn’t back yet. I glanced at her empty cup of juice and darted my eyes back to mine which was still untouched. “What could she be taking downstairs?” I muttered to myself, opening the door to the room, and stepping out while calling for Silver’s name. But the only response I got was his name which returned as echoes in my ears. Something was wrong. What was going on? Walking down the hallway, relief flooded through me when I saw Aunt Nadia sleeping on the couch next to the vase of flowers. “Aunt Nadia, you should go into
Marcel’s P.O.V*** Baby Shower ***Strings of pink, white, and silver balloons floated gently in the sunlit garden. Tulips, daisies, and peonies decorated every corner while I stood amidst it all, staring around like a proud dad. I had canceled all my schedule just to participate in the decoration after inviting a team of event planners from Thailand. As a smile formed on my face, the only thought that coursed through my mind was how Elodie was going to love this.I could already picture the look that was going to be on her face when she stepped into the garden later in the evening. All of a sudden, I was jolted out of my thoughts when a maid stood before me and on getting my attention, she lowered her head. “Sir, the popular cake corner called concerning how the delivery was going to be late. They claimed that there was a mix-up with the cake decorations”“I would be going alongside the head servant to monitor the progress of the cake. We will ensure that it gets here before the b
Marcel’s P.O.VIn the doctor’s office, Elodie stared into space, before heaving a sigh while her hands were clasped tightly in mine. A small smile played on my face, amused with the way a strand fell on her face. I was about to remove my hands from her’s in a bid to brush off the strand when she turned to look at me, a glint of worry in her eyes and distress written on her face. She has been like this lately. It worsened since the night she accepted my marriage proposal and the annoying thing was she didn't want to see a doctor and instead stuck to paranoia. I was soon jolted out of my thoughts when she muttered. “Marcel, what if it is a stomach infection or cancer?”Heaving an exasperated sigh, I shook my head. “That is why we are here. I told you that it isn't any of this”Her voice shook. “It is not like you are a doctor. Plus I have never felt this way before and I have been seeing symptoms that relate to stomach cancer and stomach infection”“We should have seen the pack docto
Elodie’s P.O.VImages of Susan’s lifeless body in the creek flashed through my mind and the way Marcel’s strong arms encircled me, pulling my trembling body against his chest in a bid to stop my gaze from lingering on her disfigured face. Darius was a monster. A monster that I never wanted to lay eyes on for the rest of my life. Marcel assured me that he was going to find Darius and finish him off as fast as possible. It has been two months since Susan died and still, that grotesque image of her in the creek kept lingering in my mind. I was so traumatized that the only one who helped me was Marcel and right now, I was pissed at him. Recently, I have been having crazy mood swings that really scared Marcel off at times and right now I was boiling because I had planned a movie night with him just for him to bail out on me at the last minute. My gaze lingered on his message telling me that he wasn't going to be coming because something important suddenly came up. Like I wasn't impor
Elodie’s P.O.V Taking my gaze off the ornate glass chandeliers, adorned with delicate crystal pieces that hung from the intricately designed ceiling, I paused beside Marcel. He glanced at me briefly before turning swiftly, his eyes softening and lighting up as if he had just seen an irreplaceable treasure.Staring into the ethereal green of my eyes, Marcel wrapped his fingers around my waist drawing me closer to him as he buried his face at the side of my neck, nibbling in a way that sent shivers down my spine. It was like he was basking in my scent. He was warm. My haven and my peace. I loved him. A lot. His lips grazed my skin, sending sparks of fire in its wake. “You are like a delicate flower that I want to keep, adorn, cherish, and nurture forever, ensuring you bloom endlessly. To the very end”“You are so beautiful, I feel like I want to end the party, take your clothes off, and show you how much you mean to me”My hand rested on his shoulders, while I muttered under my bre
Darius’s P.O.VMy lips trembled as a searing pain racked through my body while I hung limply from the chains that bound my wrists to the walls, my upper body exposed and covered with cuts which blood dripped from. Another lash landed on my back and a groan left my lips, my vision blurred with a red haze as I gritted my teeth. “Stop!” A husky voice echoed off the walls of Layzal’s dungeon as the whip made a soft thud as it was dropped against the ground. As soon as the doors to the dungeon closed, hot tears streamed down my face and a bitter laughter spiraled from me. It has been two weeks since Marcel eliminated all the council members who were responsible for everything that happened to his family. He had chosen new members of the council, and taken over my pack with my idiotic park members in support of that tyrant. Marcel changed the name of the pack to the moonstone pack. He probably named it after my late son. That bastard!I was soon jolted out of my thoughts when a dark au
Darius’s P.O.VI jolted awake as my eyes flew open and my chest heaved up and down. Staring at the ceiling which a candle chandelier hung while the grotesque image of the nightmare clung to the back of my mind like a dark stubborn shadow that seemed more like it was soon going to close in on me.I sat up slowly, leaning against the headboard while staring into space as memories of the nightmare flashed through my mind. My breath came in short, shallow gasps as I ran my hands through my hair frustratedly. I had seen myself falling off a cliff and I was in my pool of blood. Could it be the lingering fear of Layzal doing something to me that made me have this horrible nightmare? It had to be it. There was no way that I was going to die! I would never allow that. I will do everything to stay alive and get my children back from Marcel. “I won't die! Not now…not now” I muttered to myself while placing a hand on my chest that heaved slowly, sliding off the bed, as I walked to the bathroo
