87. I think Dorian is in trouble

April's POV

The next morning, I jumped out of bed, and without even having a bath or at least, washing my face, I dashed up to Dorian's room. I had left the door unlocked, and I flung it open.

His room was empty, and the atmosphere felt cold and gloomy like no one had slept there last night. I walked to his bed and placed the back of my palm on the sheets. I was right; they were icy cold. Dorian didn't come back home last night.

I began to panic all over again, but I calmed myself down enough to rush back downstairs. I passed the kitchen and saw Susan making breakfast, and she was humming a tune. I knew that she could sense my presence, but she chose to ignore me, and I ignored her, too and hurried to the front door.

I flung it open and saw that the parking lot was empty; Dorian hadn't come back at all last night. Why was he still out so late?

I went back inside and headed straight to the kitchen to talk to Susan. I hated that I had to look at her face, but I had no other choice.
