WENDY'S POV
As the door shut behind me, I immediately turned to Queen Rosina, tears streaming out of my eyes. “You have to go after him! You have to tell him the truth! Tell him what really happened, please! I beg you!” She only smirked. “Come off it, girl. You're not fooling anybody with your drama and antics. Everyone knows who you are now. You can't hide anymore.” Desperate, I turned to Brittany. “Brittany, don't do this, please. You were there—” “Nope,” my step-sister said, shaking her head. “Keep me out of your dramas, Wendy.” “My drama?! Brittany, please. You have to tell the truth! Why are you doing this? Why?! What have I ever done to you?!” “Done to me? Oh, please, shut up! Don't try and pretend as if you're a saint. Your time is up here.” I clutched at the end of her skirt. “Brittany, stop this madness!” “I have no idea what you're talking about! Let go of me!” With that, she jerked herself free and left the room with the queen. Rick sneered at me. “Aren't you a pathetic sight to behold? If you had just lie low, maybe you wouldn'thave gotten in the bad books of the queen. Anyways, enjoy your broken marriage.” With that, he grabbed a pair of jeans and a shirt and left the room. I sank to the floor — disbelief, shock, and fear racing for dominance within me. Was I really going to lose George? Was I really going to let my marriage end like this? No, I wouldn't. I couldn't. He was my everything and I would be ruined if I lost him. I got up from the floor and headed out of the room. I heard voices downstairs and I went for the stairs, to the living room. They were all there. George, Brittany and Queen Rosina, then I saw my suitcases by the side of the door. “Wha - what are my bags doing there? Why did you bring my bags there? What's going on?” Queen Rosina sneered. “What? Oh, so you think an ordinary whore like you gets to stay here? You think a cheap good-for-nothing prostitute like you gets to stay here and lead the pack with George?!” she smirked. “You must be delusional!” I ignored her tirade and turned to the only person that mattered. “George, I swear to you that I never went into that man's room to cheat on you. I have never slept with him or anyone else in my life! I was framed! It was the queen who sent me to drop off the package to him! I didn't know what was inside! I swear to you!” He sneered at me coldly. “You will really say anything to get yourself out of this, won't you? Tell me. Did he fuck you good?” I felt myself burn from the roots of my hair to the soles of my feet. “George!” I said, appalled. “I'm telling you that I was set up!” “Why don't you spare us the angelic act, Wendy?!” Brittany suddenly caught in. “This is really who you are! Stop pretending!” “And what would the queen gain from setting you up, Wendy?” I shook my head, tears glistening in my eyes. “I don't know. I swear I don't know. But you have to believe me!” “Believe you? Believe a woman who threw away everything we've built together for years just for a few minutes of pleasure?” “No, George, please—!” “You can save your tears and your lies. It's over.” “What? What do you mean? What—what do you mean it's over?!” I asked, my voice trembling. For an answer, he threw a set of papers at my feet and I bent and took them with trembling fingers. “Wh-what is it?” I asked, fear gripping me. “Divorce papers,” replied George calmly as if he was talking about the weather as if the world wasn't spinning on its axis and falling apart around me. My breath hitched and as I spoke, my voice sounded different to me; as if it wasn't mine. “What do you mean divorce papers? How did you — When did you—?” “I called my lawyer immediately I left that room,” he said then slammed the papers in front of me with a pen. “Sign them.” “Yes,” echoed the Queen triumphantly, “Sign the papers pack your rags, and leave this house!” But no, I wasn't about to give him up. I wasn't about to give up years of marriage with him because two people hated me. George and I had come a long way for that to happen. No, I wouldn't let them win. “I won't sign it. I won't. I haven't done anything wrong. I will not sign it.” “You shameless good for nothing,” he growled, his face a mass of pure anger and fury. “I am giving you a chance to go freely, a chance to cover up your shame, and yet you still defy me?!” “I'm not defying you, George! I have not done anything wrong!” “So you won't sign it?! Do you think this is all a joke?! It's funny to you?!” “What?! No! George —” “Since you won't sign it, then I have no choice but to reject you. Perhaps you will see the severity of your situation,” he said, his voice calm and cold. The look in his eyes made me shiver in fear and I tried my best to ignore it. I wouldn't let fear win; I wouldn't let them win. “You— you won't do that to me. You can't,” I stammered. “Oh, won't I? Why not try me and see?” I shook my head, not believing. This, this was not my husband. This was not the man that had captured my heart; this was not the man I had fallen irrevocably in love with. This was somebody else entirely. “I, George, the Alpha of Shadow Fangs reject you Wendy Ashton as my—” Seeing how serious he was, I shouted, “I'm pregnant!”WENDY’S POVHe stopped mid-sentence and the silence in the room seemed to swallow us both.“What did you just say?” He asked.I repeated the words, this time, a little bit firmer. “I'm pregnant with your child.”The silence stretched on for a minute more, before,“Lies!” erupted the Queen. “Don't believe her, George! This is another one of her lies to sway things in her favor! Don't listen to her! She's not pregnant!”“It's true, Alpha George,” said my devil of a half-sister. “She isn't pregnant. She's just trying to sway you. Please don't believe her.”“And even if you were pregnant,” added the queen. “We all know it couldn't possibly be for George, you whore.”Her words swung deep, but I gave my husband instead, gazing into his eyes for a glimpse of the man I once knew.I whispered again, gently and with tears this time, “I'm carrying your child, George. I'm pregnant. For you.”For a minute, it seemed it was just George and I in the room, until Queen Rosina broke the silence. “Don
WENDY POV“No...” I whispered, my throat tight, my voice shaking. “No... this can’t be happening,” I shook my head. “This can't be happening. You can't say that,” I said, my voice a calm desperation. “You need to give me my baby. Now!”The nurse shook her head still. “I'm sorry, ma'am.”No. She was lying. I had felt the kicks, the life inside me. How could it just be gone?“No! I don't believe you! Give me my baby!”I tried to sit up, but something pulled me back— the IV drip. I grab at it, yanking, trying to free myself. “Let me go! I need to see my baby!” The words come out in a scream, my hands fumbling desperately. I have to get out of here. I have to hold my baby. They’re wrong. They’re all wrong.“Please calm down,” the nurse rushes towards me, pressing an unseen button that sends other nurses rushing in. Together, they held me down.“Look at me! Look at me! You need to calm down!”“I can’t calm down! I need my baby!” I dissolved into a puddle of tears. “I just want my baby.
WENDY'S POV“Umm,” the lawyer began before pausing to clear his throat. He then continued, “Ma'am, I suggest you just sign these papers and let's get this over with. It won't take you more than a minute.”My voice was firm and strong, so unwilling and unyielding that it felt like someone else was speaking through me. “And I said I do not want to sign these papers. Go back to your Alpha and tell him that. If he has any other thing to say or do, let him come to me directly. Until then, don't approach me again.”He tried one more time. “Please, try to see reason here. Just sign it.”I didn't back down, didn't flinch as I said, “Leave. Now.”The lawyer sighed and gathered the papers together back into his briefcase. “I see you still need sometime to yourself after the traumatic event that has happened. It's understandable. You're not fully in your right state of mind. I'll come back another time.”Bastard, I seethed angrily, I would kill him the next time he sets his foot in this room.As
BRITTANY'S POVI popped the champagne cork, and Queen Rosina let out a delighted squeal. We were alone in the palace, freely sharing our joy and happiness with what had happened. We had achieved what we set out to do – get rid of Wendy.“To us,” Queen Rosina said, raising her glass. “To our perfect plan,”I clinked my glass against hers, taking a sip of the bubbly liquid. It was sweet, just like our victory.“Finally,” I murmured. Queen Rosina’s lips curled into a satisfied smirk. “That Wendy bitch is out of the way, as she should’ve been from the start.” Wendy. The name alone was enough to send a ripple of resentment through me. For years, I had stood by, forced to watch her take everything that should have been mine. And for what? Because George had some stupid attachment to his childhood sweetheart? It was pathetic. “She never belonged here,” I said, my voice sharp and bitter. “The pack didn’t want her, the council didn’t respect her, and George…” I paused, swallowing the b
George’s PovI sat at my desk, staring at the divorce papers in front of me with barely contained anger. The lawyer I had sent to Wendy with the papers had brought them back earlier, saying she refused to sign them. That act of defiance from her pissed me off more than anything. I wanted to move on. I wanted the closure these divorce papers would bring and how dare she deny me that? She was the one who had thrown what we had away to the dogs, so she had no right to deny me my wish. The lawyer said she had been on the verge of signing it before she abruptly changed her mind. Why? What had made her change her mind? Then I thought about the alimony I had offered her. Was it too small? Was that why she was being so stubborn? Because she wanted more?I gritted my teeth in anger. What this meant was that she had only been with me for the money. She had only been acting like a loving wife because of the money she could get from me. There was never any love for me on her part. Every emotio
Chapter 8George’s POV“I have to save her!” I screamed as I renewed my efforts to get to the car. “I have to save my wife!”I threw off my Beta running towards the car. Despite the yelling and screaming coming from the passerby, I paid them deaf ears. I couldn't let her die,she can’t die because it will be on my conscience. She betrayed me and maybe I do hate her, but that doesn't mean she gets to leave me in this world. Tears were already streaming down my face. Few meters away from the car, that’s when I heard a yell. “The car’s fuel is leaking, you can't go near it because it would blow.” I didn't stop, I have to save my woman. I took another step and the car exploded, the explosion throwing me back. I hit my back on the floor hard and I swear I could hear a bone crack. Tears streamed down my face, blurring my vision. I could see the fire department trying to put out the fire, people gathering around me, whispering in hushed voices. “No!” I whispered. Somewhere in my memory,
ALPHA GEORGE’S POVThankfully, my legs weren't damaged pretty badly and I could still use them I just had to go through surgery and I'll be fine. While being prepped, I took out the hair bun from my pockets and slipping it on my wrist.I stared at the ribbon, memories of each time i helped her fix it on her hair. I smiled on remembering one of our moments togetherFLASHBACKI had just returned from a pack meeting, I wasn't the Alpha then. The elders were still testing me to see if I was fit for the role. I came back and tired and I didn't meet her at the door step as usual. I got worried and ran upstairs to our room to look for her, only to hear her grumbling at something.I knocked gently on the door"What!" She answered, sounding frustrated. I smiled, if she knew I was the one, she would freak and apologize which I hated by the way. We were mated to each other, I didn't want her apologizing on every chance she got.I entered and she gasped in shock."I didn't know you were the one."
Chapter 10Wendy's POVI watched as the fire burnt through the car I was supposed to be in. Creating a perfect and believable death wasn't an easy thing to do, but I did."That's done," Whitney whispered in my ears and I stared up at the sky. The last few days have been an eye-opener and I don't think my heart will ever heal from the heartaches and pains I went through."Where to now?" I asked."They will still be on the lookout to see if you survived, so lay low a bit," Whitney replied and I nodded. I was about to turn to leave when I heard a scream. I stopped in my tracks."Don't turn back." Whitney's warning voice resounded in my ears. I shut my eyes, wanting to obey her, I just couldn't when I heard the scream again. It sounded so familiar, so I turned just in time to see George running into the car crash."I said not to turn, Wendy," Whitney said, sounding pissed."What is he doing?" I muttered watching them run to the car.I shouldn't have been this worried and concerned about h
I had just gotten back to the pack house and was trying to catch my breath when I got a message. There was a loud knock at my door, and before I could say anything, a guard stuck his head in.“Your Highness, Alpha Sirius and his group have just arrived at the gates.” the guard told me with a low bow. His voice was calm, but there was a hidden urgency in the way he spoke.I pushed back my chair, the leather creaking under me. For years, I'd kept a calm face as the Alpha King, but something about Sirius' visit made me feel excited and nervous inside. I grabbed my jacket from the back of my chair and walked towards the door.As I walked up the big steps of the pack house, I heard the loud engines of Sirius' cars. Black SUVs, a typical choice for a visiting leader, stopped on the driveway in front of the house. The dark windows sparkled in the late afternoon sun, and after a moment, the doors opened at the same time. Men in suits got out - Sirius' second-in-command, some bodyguards, and f
Wendy’s POVWhen George angrily left the restaurant, his boots making a loud noise on the ground, I didn’t go after him. I stayed in my seat, holding my wine glass tightly. The anger he felt was still in the air, but I didn’t let it affect me. His angry words kept playing in my mind, hurting me with each one.I shook my head to clear it and took a slow drink. George was acting like a kid - reckless and silly. Didn't he get how bad Queen Rosina and her son Gerald were? Did he think this was just about a small feud or a chance to become popular?“No, George.” I said quietly, putting the glass down. “This isn't about you or your pride. It's about staying safe. About what's fair.”The thought of tonight's dinner made me nervous. I had to be there. It wasn't just a rule to have a big meal for a visiting leader it was a chance to get information, to get closer to Leader Sirius, to find out where Rosina and Gerald were hiding. But George made it clear - I wasn't invited to dinner tonight. No
Wendy's POVAs soon as George answered my call, I could tell something was wrong on the other end. He was breathing slowly, carefully - not calm, but like he was about to blow up. I tried to sound cheerful and friendly, acting like I didn't notice how angry he was and how hard he was trying not to lose his temper.“Hello.” I said to him, trying to sound friendly even though he couldn't see me. “I was hoping to run into you.”His response was brief, almost rude. “Wendy.”No introductions. No small talk. Him using my first name said a lot - it was friendly and mean at the same time, showing how upset he was. I ignored the awkward feeling in the air and kept going.“I'm glad you picked up.” I said, acting like I didn't hear how strained his voice sounded. “I - I wanted to talk to you.”He laughed quietly on the other end, and though it was soft, the mocking in it was clear. “Talk?” he said again, his voice firm. “Isn't that what we're doing now?”I bit back my retort, suppressing the spa
Wendy's POVI came out of the restaurant, my heart racing, my teeth gritted so hard they might break. The sight of Wendy kissing Derek, kept playing in my head over and over. I was furious. I wasn't thinking straight - and I didn't care right then.“Your Highness, the car is ready.” my driver said, standing next to the shiny black car.I waved him away quickly without looking. “Leave it.” I said loudly. My voice sounded harsh, almost like a growl. I couldn't sit in the car, it felt too small. I needed to get out. I needed room. I needed air. Anything but this angry feeling that was getting worse inside me.My feet took me to the edge of the forest without me thinking much. I started unbuttoning my shirt as I walked deeper into the woods. By the time I was surrounded by trees, I was running and taking off my clothes. The change happened easily - almost too easily, like my wolf inside me was waiting for this moment to take over. My bones changed shape, my body transformed. Fur grew on m
Wendy's POVI still had the crumpled napkin in my hand when I felt bad about acting on instinct. My heart beat fast as Derek sat across from me, his blue eyes wide with confusion and, I think, curiosity. He hadn't stopped looking at me since I kissed him - a kiss that I knew was a big mistake and would cause trouble.Derek said, “Wendy...” His deep voice cut through my jumbled thoughts. He leaned forward, his eyebrows scrunched up in a mix of curiosity and uncertainty. “What... what does that kiss mean?”I sighed and tossed the napkin on the table, rubbing my head. I was so tired of George and his jealousy. And I was tired of letting it get to me. “Prince Derek.” I said calmly. I had to be careful not to make him angry, but also not to bring up old feelings between me and my ex-husband.“Maybe we should talk about this tomorrow. I...” I raised my hands in frustration. “Tonight has been more complicated than I thought it would be.”Derek blinked, his mouth opening like he wanted to dis
George's POVAs soon as I entered the restaurant, I knew I had made a mistake. The flash of the cameras still hurt my eyes, and Brittany's grip on my arm was too tight as she leaned in to say something pointless about choosing the place. But none of that mattered anymore.Because there she was. Wendy. My breath caught. Her laugh sounded out, gentle and sweet, like a memory that stuck with me. She was really smiling. And next to her was a man I didn't know, but he seemed like a big deal. He sat up straight, his suit was perfectly clean, and the smile on his face was a bit too confident as he leaned in close to her, whispering in her ear.I almost froze on the spot. Almost."George?" Brittany's voice woke me up from my trance. Her fake niceness annoyed me as she gave a big smile to the photographers behind us.Then Wendy looked at me. The smile on her face went away for a second, but that was all I needed to see. I knew she was just as surprised as I was. She didn't think I'd be here to
George's POVWendy’s hurt and disappointed face kept flashing in my mind. I kept replaying the date, feeling regret with every mistake. What could I have done better? How could I have reached her heart? These questions circled, with no answers, until the early light of morning started to come through the curtains.I finally fell asleep, but only for a little while. I woke up suddenly, grabbing my phone. The calendar showed Wendy's birthday. I felt a rush of panic and guilt. I had been so focused on feeling sorry for myself that I almost forgot. I threw off the covers, my heart pounding. I needed to fix this, or at least try. I hadn’t forgotten her birthday. I planned everything, and I needed to show her I still care and haven’t given up on us.I wrote a letter, sharing my regret and hope for her happiness. I called my helper and told him to send it with a bunch of her favorite red roses and a box of the fanciest chocolates I could find. I didn’t mind the cost all that mattered was Wen
Wendy's POVThe glass doors opened as I walked into the lobby of my office building. The quiet sound of the air and the gentle typing on computers filled the room like a nice background noise. But today, there was something more - a quiet excitement, a soft murmur of people talking. I didn't need to see them to know they were talking about it, about her. About Queen Rosina, the mean person finally shown for who she really was.I walked past the front desk, the quiet talking fading away, but I heard a few things - “bad person.” “mean plans.” “finally caught.” It seemed everyone knew about Rosina's dishonesty now, and it was ruining her reputation. I let a small smile show on my face. It was a good day, a very good day. I was finally getting my life back to normal.Arriving at my office door, I swiped my card, the lock opening with a nice click. My office was calm and quiet, which soothed me. I went to my desk, the shiny surface reflecting the morning sun, and sat down. I checked the la
George's POVI honked the horn on my car. I knew it was childish, but thinking about Wendy’s reaction made me smile like crazy. I’d spent the whole afternoon adjusting it to be just the right amount. Her door opened, and then she showed up.I couldn't breathe. She walked down the steps like she was floating, wearing a dress. I didn't even notice the color or the fabric, just how it flowed with her, how the light highlighted every curve. The dress was both elegant and incredibly sexy, and she wore it perfectly. It didn't matter what the dress looked like. It was her in the dress that mattered.I quickly turned off the car and jumped out, rushing to her side. I opened the door for her, my heart beating fast. "Wendy," I said, trying to keep my voice steady, "You look… absolutely beautiful."She hesitated before taking my hand, looking at me a bit longer than she had to. "George," she said, her voice polite but not too friendly. "Thanks for the ride." She got into the car. I could feel my
