George’s Pov

I sat at my desk, staring at the divorce papers in front of me with barely contained anger.

The lawyer I had sent to Wendy with the papers had brought them back earlier, saying she refused to sign them.

That act of defiance from her pissed me off more than anything. I wanted to move on. I wanted the closure these divorce papers would bring and how dare she deny me that? She was the one who had thrown what we had away to the dogs, so she had no right to deny me my wish.

The lawyer said she had been on the verge of signing it before she abruptly changed her mind.

Why? What had made her change her mind?

Then I thought about the alimony I had offered her. Was it too small? Was that why she was being so stubborn? Because she wanted more?

I gritted my teeth in anger.

What this meant was that she had only been with me for the money. She had only been acting like a loving wife because of the money she could get from me. There was never any love for me on her part. Every emotio

Chapter 8George’s POV“I have to save her!” I screamed as I renewed my efforts to get to the car. “I have to save my wife!”I threw off my Beta running towards the car. Despite the yelling and screaming coming from the passerby, I paid them deaf ears. I couldn't let her die,she can’t die because it will be on my conscience. She betrayed me and maybe I do hate her, but that doesn't mean she gets to leave me in this world. Tears were already streaming down my face. Few meters away from the car, that’s when I heard a yell. “The car’s fuel is leaking, you can't go near it because it would blow.” I didn't stop, I have to save my woman. I took another step and the car exploded, the explosion throwing me back. I hit my back on the floor hard and I swear I could hear a bone crack. Tears streamed down my face, blurring my vision. I could see the fire department trying to put out the fire, people gathering around me, whispering in hushed voices. “No!” I whispered. Somewhere in my memory,

While being prepped, I took out the hair bun from my pockets and slipping it on my wrist.I stared at the ribbon, memories of each time i helped her fix it on her hair. I smiled on remembering one of our moments togetherFLASHBACKI had just returned from a pack meeting, I wasn't the Alpha then. The elders were still testing me to see if I was fit for the role. I came back and tired and I didn't meet her at the door step as usual. I got worried and ran upstairs to our room to look for her, only to hear her grumbling at something.I knocked gently on the door"What!" She answered, sounding frustrated. I smiled, if she knew I was the one, she would freak and apologize which I hated by the way. We were mated to each other, I didn't want her apologizing on every chance she got.I entered and she gasped in shock."I didn't know you were the one."

Chapter 10Wendy's POVI watched as the fire burnt through the car I was supposed to be in. Creating a perfect and believable death wasn't an easy thing to do, but I did."That's done," Whitney whispered in my ears and I stared up at the sky. The last few days have been an eye-opener and I don't think my heart will ever heal from the heartaches and pains I went through."Where to now?" I asked."They will still be on the lookout to see if you survived, so lay low a bit," Whitney replied and I nodded. I was about to turn to leave when I heard a scream. I stopped in my tracks."Don't turn back." Whitney's warning voice resounded in my ears. I shut my eyes, wanting to obey her, I just couldn't when I heard the scream again. It sounded so familiar, so I turned just in time to see George running into the car crash."I said not to turn, Wendy," Whitney said, sounding pissed."What is he doing?" I muttered watching them run to the car.I shouldn't have been this worried and concerned about h

I yelled. Edward groaned in pain from where he lay, getting on his feet as he rubbed his arm. I think I kinda broke it as it was a little bit discoloured."I'm not George, Wendy. You know the way to the palace, go there and just take out your anger on him.” Then with a look of mock realization,he continued.“Oh my, you probably won't….. because you will cower when you meet him. You are a coward, Wendy." He said, flexing his broken arm. "You know nothing about me!" I snarled, walking towards him." Oh please, your first attempt to break my neck didn't work, you're going for a second attempt, come on,don't hold back." Edward shrugged, staring at her. She looked beautiful when being feisty and angry. "I don't need your help." I said, walking away. Edward smiled, walking with me. "You know you

George's POV "I've had enough!" I barked, slamming my fist on the desk. "Get out!" My secretary, bless her, knew better than to take it personally. Our family connection spared her the brunt of my temper. Otherwise, she'd have joined the long list of employees who'd fled Armstrong Corp. It unraveled two years ago: The Redstone deal, our ticket to the big leagues, imploded. I couldn't place my finger on exactly where the disaster began. One minute we were poised to make it big, the next our bosses yanked the plug, and I was left bewildered and infuriated. Day in and day out, I battled with the results: talent fled, morale plummeted, and I wrestled with self-doubt. Where had it all gone wrong? I slammed my palm on the table in anger, my eyes red as I stared at the email that popped up on my laptop-new marketing just rejected the proposal I made all night. I sent my hands to my hair as I stood up from the chair. I stared at the city through my windows, a sullen look on. The ringing

George's POV"She's never coming back, you should know that." She said in anger, slamming the door shut as she left. I shook my head, crouching down to pick up what I destroyed out of rage earlier. I hated how things were happening around here, I wished they were better. Believe me, I have tried, and put in effort to see if things will improve, but still nothing, instead, it got worse. I wished I could run for the hills, but this was my father's sweat and hard work here. He didn't leave when things got hard, instead, he stayed and worked hard till things got better, leaving me this empire. The door creaked open and this time, I turned sharply almost aiming the paperweight at whoever it was. "Relax." The person said, closing the door behind her. It was my stepmother, coming in dressed in her regal attire. I looked closely and it was my mom's clothes. I clenched my fist, controlling the anger brewing within. "What are you doing here, Rosina?" I asked, turning back to clearing the m

The person asked, helping me off the floor. Tears blurred my vision and I ended up hugging who it was."Oh..." He gasped, hugging me back. I leaned on him as I cried my frustration out. Why did it have to be her? I was never the option whenever my sister was involved. "Let it out." He muttered, patting my back. My sobbing increased and so did my hatred for Wendy. If she wasn't dead, I would take great pleasure in murdering her over again. It's been a while six years and he's still pining over her. Why couldn't he see I was deeply in love with him? I sobbed hard on the stranger's shoulder until I couldn't cry anymore. My eyes were all red and swollen. I pulled away when I started to feel hot. "I'm sorry." I apologized, wiping my eyes clean. The tears flowed again and I just let it go. "I'm sorry. " I apologize again,

That's what they were and they're taking their punishment.George wasn’t there. He didn’t need to be. Neither did Wendy. They had already won. What will they gain in watching the disgraceful sight?.Elder Mikhail stood there in front of them. His white hair cascading gorgeously on his shoulders. His robe's rope dangled just above the floor. He looked at them with disgust, before he started his judgement.“Gerald. Edward.” His voice was sharp, cutting through the silence like a knife cut through bread. “You have been found guilty of conspiracy against the… Alpha and the pack. You plotted to destabilize our leadership, and in doing so, you endangered not only the pack’s unity but its very survival.
